It has been an eventful week in the WNBA. The week began with a player snatching Kahleah Copper’s wig at a Phoenix Mercury vs Washington Mystics game on July 27.
Then on Tuesday, someone threw a lime green d*ldo on the court during the Atlanta Dream vs Golden State Valkyries game at the Gateway Center in College Park, Georgia.
The incident happened with a minute left in the game and the score tied 75-75. Luckily, the d*ldo didn’t hit anyone. The game was delayed until a police officer picked up the xes toy with a piece of cloth.

During the break, an official got on the arena’s PA system and warned fans not to throw objects on the court. The game continued and the Valkyries ended up winning 77-75.
The person who threw the object on the court was never found. The incident created a buzz on social media.
Most social media users were astonished that the cameraman panned to the object on the floor and everyone at home saw what it was – including children watching.
One X (Twitter) user wrote: “D*ldo thrown on the WNBA court. WE ARE SO BACK!”
Another person wrote: “To be fair, the players just asked for more green.” The comment was in reference to the players asking for more money during the WNBA’s Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA) negotiations.
A third person wrote: “Yesterday it was wig. Today it is a d*ldo. What is dropping tomorrow?”
Some fans blamed the incident on the pronounced LGBTQ+ promotion during the recent WNBA All-Star game in Indiana. The WNBA is 50% openly lesbian. At least 4 teams have openly lesbian couples playing together.
The Dream take on Paige Bueckers and the Dallas Wings tonight (July 30) at the College Park Center in Arlington, Texas.
