Houston attorney Tony Buzbee denies Shannon Sharpe‘s claim that he’s targeting Black celebrities and athletes.
Buzbee has sued rich Black men such as NFL quarterback Deshaun Watson, rap mogul Sean Combs, and rappers Jay-Z and Travis Scott.
The New York Times referred to Buzbee as “one of the most successful trial lawyers in Texas.” But Shannon disagrees, after Buzbee filed a $50 million xesual assault lawsuit against him earlier this year.

Shannon called the lawsuit a “shakedown” and he accused Buzbee of “targeting black men” like him.
Shannon recently settled the lawsuit for a reported $23 million, with both sides acknowledging “a long-term consensual and tumultuous relationship” existed between him and former OF model Gabby Zuniga.
But Buzbee pushed back against the accusation that he targets Black, high-value men like Shannon.
“I didn’t wake up one morning and say, ‘I want to sue Shannon Sharpe.’ He has no relevance in my life,” said Buzbee. “I actually think he’s very entertaining when he yells and screams and talks about sports that he’s not involved in. But if I think it’s a legitimate case, then I pursue it. And I think this is worth my time.”
Buzbee noted that he has sued multiple “old white men” and pointed out his 2010 lawsuit against BP following for an oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico.
“I guess a bunch of old white men could say I’m targeting them, and a bunch of multinational corporations could say I’m targeting them as well,” Buzbee added. “I guess you could say I was targeting BP.”
