Caitlin Clark announced she will not return to the Indiana Fever lineup for the remainder of the 2025 WNBA season.
Clark, 23, announced the devastating news on her social media accounts on Thursday night.
“I had hoped to share a better update, but I will not be returning to play this season,” she wrote. “Disappointed isn’t a big enough word.”
Clark’s second year was plagued with injuries. The WNBA’s 2024 Rookie of the Year has not played since July 15.
She averaged 16.5 points, 8.8 assists and 5 rebounds in 13 games this season.

Fans expressed their disappointment on X (Twitter) on Thursday. Many directed their frustration at the WNBA for not protecting their golden goose.
Clark took the WNBA by storm in 2024. She brought unprecedented growth to the league and provided financial opportunities for WNBA players.
She became the first rookie in league history to score a triple-double, and she led all rookies in assists and scoring in 2024.
There wouldn’t be an Unrivaled women’s basketball league without Clark’s influence.
She deserves more than just 2 hearts from the WNBA.

Imagine carrying a league (WNBA) on your back further than they have dared to dream in 28 seasons only to meet a wall of hate from idiots. Even while injured Caitlin Clark controlled the crowds in every arena she graced with her presence. Make no mistake.. she's the one! pic.twitter.com/n2AIXXL5Ez
