An insider says former NFL quarterback Mark Sanchez’s arrest in Indianapolis will cost him his job at Fox Sports.

Sanchez was stabbed multiple times during an altercation with a 69-year-old man in an alleyway in Indianapolis early Sunday.

He was in town to provide color commentary for Fox Sports during the Colts home game against the Las Vegas Raiders on Sunday.

The insider told the Daily Mail the violent altercation was a “career-ending event” for the NFL announcer.

“He’s already been told that he won’t be on camera again, and we’ve made the moves to replace him,” the source told the Daily Mail.

“He has a morals clause in his contract, like everyone else. This arrest violates that clause.”

According to reports, Sanchez got into an argument with a truck driver in an alley behind a hotel.

The man was backing his truck up to the hotel’s loading dock when Sanchez became irate and told him to move his truck. Surveillance video from the hotel shows Sanchez climb into the man’s truck.

Sanchez, who had alcohol on his breath, got out of the truck, picked up the elderly man and slammed him to the ground.

The victim tried to pepper spray Sanchez. “This guy is trying to kill me,” he later told police.

The victim produced a knife and stabbed the Fox Sports analyst in self-defense. Media outlets published gruesome photos of the victim’s injuries. He is still in intensive care at a local hospital with serious injuries to his face, head and neck.

Sanchez fled to a nearby pub. He was transported to a local hospital in serious condition with multiple stab wounds.

Sanchez’s Fox Sports colleagues faced backlash for sending their “thoughts and prayers” to him.

After reviewing surveillance videos, police arrested Sanchez at the hospital and handcuffed him to a gurney.

The Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department stated: “Sanchez was arrested at the hospital for battery with injury, unlawful entry of a motor vehicle and public intoxication, all of which are misdemeanors. All involved parties have been identified, and no further individuals are being sought by detectives.”

The statement continued: “Sanchez is still in the hospital and has not been booked into the Adult Detention Center… An arrest is merely an accusation, and Sanchez should be considered innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.”

The Marion County Prosecutor’s Office has since added a felony assault charge to his list of charges.

The prosecutor said in a statement:

“What began as a disagreement between a 38-year-old former professional athlete and a 69-year-old man should not have escalated into violence or left anyone seriously injured. As with any case, we will follow the facts and the law wherever they lead.”

The former NY Jets quarterback posted $300 bond on Monday. He is scheduled to appear in court Tuesday morning.

Sanchez joined Fox Sports 1 after leaving ESPN in 2021. He retired from the NFL in 2018.

“We are talking to lawyers first,” the victim’s family told TMZ when asked for a comment.
