Former Fox 2 News anchor Angelynn Mock is charged with first-degree murder in the death of her 80-year-old mother Anita Avers.
Police responding to a 911 call before 8 a.m. on Friday, Oct. 31, found Mock standing outside their Wichita, Kansas home. Her mother was found in a bedroom suffering from multiple stab wounds. She died at a local hospital.

Mock (in an undated photo) claimed she stabbed her elderly mother (right) in self-defense.
“Calling party stabbed the mother to save herself,” dispatchers reportedly told responding officers.
A neighbor said Mock ran up to her boyfriend’s car with blood on her hands and clothing.
“There was a woman who approached our vehicle with like blood (on her hands and body) asking to call 911,” Alyssa Castro told KAKE News.
Mock begged Castro’s boyfriend for his phone to call 911. When he gave it to her, she ran back inside the home, Castro said.
She was booked into the Sedgwick County Jail on $1 million bond after being treated at a hospital for cuts on her hands.
Mock, 47, worked as a news anchor at Fox News affiliate station Fox 2 in St. Louis, Missouri from March 2011 to February 2015, according to LinkedIn.
Mock’s mugshot photo sparked debates on Facebook over the possible use of AI to generate the mugshot.
