The trailer for Michael Jackson’s biopic, titled “Michael,” was released on Thursday.

The upcoming biopic is directed by Antoine Fuqua and stars Michael’s nephew, Jaafar Jackson (Jermaine Jackson’s son), in the lead role.

The 2-hour film will cover Michael’s career from his childhood with the Jackson 5 to his death in 2009.

The film will not cover the allegations that plagued Michael for most of his adult life.

The trailer features scenes from The Jackson 5’s early childhood and Michael’s solo tour in the 1980s. Actor Colman Domingo, who plays Joe Jackson, narrates the short clip.

“Michael” also stars Nia Long as Michael’s mom Katherine Jackson, Larenz Tate as Motown founder Berry Gordy, Derek Luke as attorney Johnnie Cochran, Laura Harrier as Suzanne de Passe (who discovered the Jackson 5), and Kat Graham as Michael’s mentor Diana Ross.

The movie was delayed twice from its original October 2025 release date due to controversy surrounding scenes with Michael and children,

A source close to the production told People, “The Michael Jackson biopic is not in total chaos. The inflammatory headlines about the movie halting are simply not true. The film is moving forward, and reshoots are happening in March.”

“Michael” is scheduled for release in theaters on April 24, 2026.
