The White House appealed to Supreme Court Justice Ketanji Brown Jackson after a judge ordered the Trump administration to pay full SNAP payments by Friday.

Jackson’s ruling on Friday pauses the payments until the U.S. Court of Appeals for the First Circuit can decide whether to block the order pending an appeal.

“Given the First Circuit’s representations, an administrative stay is required to facilitate the First Circuit’s expeditious resolution of the pending stay motion,” Jackson wrote late Friday.

The White House filed an appeal with Justice Jackson because she handles emergency appeals arising from the First Circuit by default.

“Our attorneys will not stop fighting, day and night, to defend and advance President Trump’s agenda,” Attorney General Pam Bondi wrote on X (Twitter).

Earlier Friday, the Court of Appeals denied Trump’s request to stay the lower court’s order.

The Trump administration responded by asking the Supreme Court to intervene.

Jackson’s ruling is stunning because she previously slammed the Supreme Court for siding with Trump in an unrelated ruling.
