But now Chaquilla wants Oklahoma DHS to restore custody of Dekoda to her.
Chaquilla wrote in a Facebook post, “My apologies to [Facebook] this morning but I need evidence if anything happens to my son while he’s under DHS. This is what my daughter and I woke up to so can anybody tell me what I need to do to immediately get my oldest out of this foster home.”

She added: “For the past three years, my family has been involved with the Oklahoma City DHS system. What was supposed to be support and protection has instead caused ongoing harm to my family and most importantly to my child.”
Chaquilla created a GoFundMe account to raise funds for legal fees and court expenses, as she battles DHS for custody of her son.
Chaquilla said if she wins custody of Dekoda, they plan to return to their hometown in Minnesota, where she has family support, stability, and resources that promote healing and safety.
According to reports, DHS has made it extremely difficult for Chaquilla to get her son back.
The state believes Dekoda is better off in the foster care system, where he can’t run the streets and get into trouble.
“No child should be harmed in foster care, and no parent should have to beg a system to do what is right,” writes Ashish Maharjan, author at Players Bio.
He argues that the foster care system is no place for boys from broken homes.
