A British news anchor apologized for saying Meghan Markle‘s mom served time in prison while Meghan was raised by her father.
On December 4, British news anchor Carole Malone, with GB News, falsely claimed that Meghan was raised by her father, Thomas Markle, while her mother, Doria Ragland, was in prison.
Carole issued a public apology to Meghan and her mom the next day.
“I apologize sincerely to Ms. Ragland and her family for any pain my comments may have caused,” Carole said. She added that she saw the “misinformation” online and she initially believed it to be true.
“On Thursday, December the 4th, 2025, I stated that Thomas Markle, the Duchess of Sussex’s father, brought Meghan up while her mother, Doria Ragland, was in prison,” Carole said on December 15.
“I believed this to be the case based on what I now understand to be misinformation I had seen online. I was questioned about the validity of this claim during the broadcast and I repeated this belief, which I now understand to be false.”
She added, “This was a genuine error. I accept what I have been told on behalf of Ms. Ragland — that she raised her daughter and that she has never been in prison or jail. I apologize sincerely to Ms. Ragland and her family for any pain my comments may have caused.”

Meanwhile, Meghan has no plans to visit her father in an ICU after he had his leg amputated.
According to the UK Express, Meghan has not heard back from Thomas after contacting him and she has no plans to visit with him.
The 81-year-old underwent surgery to amputate his left leg below the knee. He suffered from poor circulation in his leg due to a blood clot.
Dr. Neil Sanico explained they had “no option” but to amputate Thomas’ leg.
“There was a danger of gangrene setting in,” Sanico added, while also praising Thomas for being a “strong and brave man.”
Thomas has been estranged from Meghan since 2018 when he was caught staging paparazzi photos for money ahead of her wedding to England’s Prince Harry.
Thomas suffered a heart attack just six days before the wedding ceremony in May 2018.
