Nick was arrested hours later near the University of Southern California, about 14 miles away from the crime scene.

Sources say Rob and Nick had a “very loud argument” at Conan O’Brien’s Christmas party on Saturday evening. Hours later, Nick attacked his parents.

Nick struggled with drug addiction and homelessness for years.

“We’ve tried everything,” Michele Reiner previously confided in a friend.

The insider told TMZ that Michele and Rob were at their “wits’ end” with Nick and his drug problems.

Nick was staying in a hotel after his parents threw him out of their home.

Police completed a search of his blood-soaked hotel room. Detectives were searching for a weapon. They believe Nick disposed of the weapon after leaving his parents’ home.

A housekeeper told TMZ the hotel room shower was “full of blood” and she also found blood on the bed. She said the windows were covered with a bed sheet.

A detective said Nick “cleaned up” and “disposed of evidence” after the murders.

Surveillance video showed Nick walking to his parents’ home early Sunday, December 14, before the murders.

A separate video showed him purchasing Gatorade at a convenience store after the murders.

Rob Reiner was worth an estimated $200 million when he died.
