Former President Barack Obama opened up about President Donald Trump’s controversial video that portrayed Obama and his wife, Michelle Obama as apes.
During a podcast appearance, Obama said a majority of the American people find Trump’s behavior “deeply troubling”.
He said Americans still believe in “decency, courtesy, kindness, and there’s this sort of clown show that’s happening in social media and television.”
Obama added, “There doesn’t seem to be any shame about this among people who used to feel like you had to have some sort of decorum and the sense of propriety and respect for the office.”
Trump refused to apologize after the video went viral earlier this month.
A staffer shared the shocking video on Trump’s Truth Social app on Feb. 5, but Trump said the staffer didn’t know the offensive clip was at the end of the video. “Nobody knew that that was in the end.”
The video clip discussed a suspicious spike in votes for former President Joe Biden after the vote count stopped in 2020.
Trump lost to Biden, but he argued that the race was stolen from him during the night.

After the video was taken down, Press secretary Karoline Leavitt said, “This is from an internet meme video depicting President Trump as the King of the Jungle and Democrats as characters from The Lion King.”
The Obama Monkey video was auto-played during a screen recording of an election fraud video which is the video Trump actually shared.
