Katie Couric is speaking out about skyrocketing colorectal cancer rates in America. The former TV host was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2022. She is now an advocate for early cancer screening.
Doctors report an unprecedented explosion of pancreatic and colorectal cancer cases among young people under age 50.
“What the f**k is going on?” Couric asked during a recent episode of Kara Swisher’s podcast. She mentioned a 21-year-old college student with no family history of cancer who was diagnosed with stage 4 colorectal cancer.
“I am hearing more and more about people in their early forties, thirties, even twenties, being diagnosed with this disease at an advanced stage, often metatastic colorectal cancer. I can’t even tell you guys how crushing it is… There is something going in our environment. It’s not just obesity or sedentary lifestyle.”
Couric suggested the increase in colorectal cancer rates may be caused by ultra-processed food, microplastics, forever chemicals, and over-prescription of antibiotics.”

In one article, Couric and Dr. Nina Shapiro discussed the safety of Covid-19 mRNA vaccines for pregnant women.
One year later, Couric was diagnosed with breast cancer.
