A U.S. Postal Service worker died in a 2-car accident while delivering mail. Her mail truck collided with a passenger vehicle and she was pinned under the overturned truck.

The accident happened on Monday, April 27, in DeKalb County, Ga. 40-year-old Tinisha Cade, a mother-of-4, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Witnesses say a USPS truck collided with a passenger vehicle and rolled on its side at Larkspur Terrace and Iris Lane on Monday night.

Residents rushed to the scene after hearing a loud boom. A neighbor said she saw the mail truck lying on its side and heard someone screaming from a nearby car.

The other driver, a male, was transported to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Cade was remembered as a friendly face in the neighborhood. One neighbor told Atlanta News First: “She has a lot of kids. Four children.”

The neighbor said Cade’s family members rushed to the scene. “And they were very sad, the family filled the block up with their cars.”

“She was very nice. Any time she delivered mail here she spoke to everybody. She was real friendly and this is not her route often, but she would a lot of times sub for other drivers.”

Antoine Fortson, who shared a child with Cade, told 11Alive‘s Gilat Melamed she had three other children, a grandchild and another grandchild on the way.

“Her energy she brought to the crowd, she was just a good person, like I said she’ll take the clothes off her back and give them to you to make sure you’re alright,” Fortson said.

“I never imagined being a single father, let alone, you know, four kids, instead of one, I gotta be there for all of them,” Fortson added.

In a statement, the U.S. Postal Service said they were “deeply saddened by the tragic loss of a postal family member in a fatal incident on April 27.”

The statement continued: “Our thoughts are with their family, friends, and colleagues during this difficult time. We will be providing counseling services to our employees at the Decatur Main Post Office as the investigation into the incident continues.”
