This is a cautionary tale for anyone who takes their vehicle to a car dealership for service or leaves their car with a valet.

A man whose Jeep was involved in a freak accident at a car dealership in Michigan is being sued for wrongful death.

According to FOX 2 News, the customer took his Jeep for an oil change at the Rochester Hills Chrysler Dodge dealership in Mount Clemens on March 13, 2020.

After handing his keys over to a 19-year-old employee at the dealership, a freak accident occurred that left a 42-year-old lifelong mechanic dead.

"He starts the car, removes his foot from the clutch, and you know what happens? The Jeep jumps and kills my client," attorney David Femminineo told FOX 2.

According to Femminineo, his client, Jeffrey Hawkins, a father of four, would still be alive if the customer hadn't taken his Jeep to the dealership for an oil change that day.

Femminineo says the customer should be held accountable because the dealership can't be sued under Michigan law.

Femminineo described Hawkins as "an excellent man" whose 2-year-old son was only 1 at the time of his death.

"He'll never know his father," he said.

The attorney told FOX 2 that the 19-year-old employee didnt know how to drive a stick, and he had no license.

When asked why the dealership hired him without a valid driver's license, the attorney replied, "That's what I'd like to know."

Femminineo told FOX 2 he sued the customer because of a "legal standard" that prohibits him from suing the dealership when a fatal accident involves two employees.

Femminineo said the responsible party is the car owner who wasn't even involved in the accident.

"I have to do that," Femminineo said, before explaining the car owner should have verified that the 19-year-old employee had a valid license and could drive a stick before handing over his car key.

"When you hand your car over to anybody including the valet or the person at the service desk at your local dealership, you better be able to trust that person," he said.

FOX 2 reached out to the car owner's attorney - who had no comment on pending litigation, but he said he plans to fight the case in a trial in May.

The shooter was Doug Williams, a longtime assembly line worker at Lockheed, who made no secret about his hatred for Black people.

As Williams stalked his victims at the Lockheed plant in Meridian, Mississippi, on July 8, 2003, he targeted only Black co-workers.

Williams, who is white, opened fire on 14 of his co-workers with a shotgun, killing six of them, before committing suicide.

Survivors say Williams had a long history of making racist comments toward Black people.

According to reports, Judge Ketanji Jackson Brown refused to approve a $22.8 million settlement for the Black workers.

She also denied them the opportunity to gather evidence in a Race Bias Class Action lawsuit against Lockheed.

In her ruling in Washington, DC on Jan. 10, 2019, Judge Jackson agreed with Lockheed's attorneys that the Black workers shouldn't be allowed to pursue their claims as a class since the court previously denied class certification for Black people in July 2017.

Jackson is currently facing questions on Day 3 of Senate hearings to confirm her nomination to the U.S. Supreme Court. If confirmed, she would become the first Black woman to be a justice on the Supreme Court.

Milwaukee authorities say a robbery that left a 16-year-old Burger King employee dead was staged, and she was in on it.

Niesha Harris-Brazell was working the drive-thru window on the night of January 2, when a black Chevy Impala drove up and the driver demanded cash.

The driver leaned through the restaurant window, pointed a gun at Niesha and ordered her to hurry up.

As Niesha turned to get the money from the cash register, she signaled to her co-workers for help.

One of those employees, Derrick D. Ellis, 34, produced a handgun and fired twice at the robber who slid down into the driver's seat and sped off empty handed.

Niesha fell to the floor and told her co-workers she was shot. She was rushed to a hospital and later pronounced dead.

Police say she was shot by her co-worker, Ellis, a convicted felon who is now in the wind.

Surveillance video shows Ellis scrambling to pick up the spent shell casings off the floor after accidentally shooting his co-worker. He then handed the weapon to a store manager who hid it in the restaurant's safe.

Prosecutors filed a murder charge and felony gun possession charge against Ellis last week, Yahoo News reported. He is still on the run.

Police later arrested the driver of the Impala, Antoine Edwards (pictured), and charged him with felony murder, intentionally contributing to the delinquency of a child with death as a consequence, and possession of a firearm by a felon.

Meanwhile, Niesha's family created a GoFundMe account to raise $5,000 for her funeral expenses. The account collected over $40,000 before it was shut down by GoFundMe after the case took a bizarre twist.

According to court documents, investigators say Edwards is the father of Burger King employee Mariah Edwards who was working with Niesha at the time of the robbery.

Mariah told investigators that the botched robbery was staged with the help of her father and Niesha. She said Ellis was not in on the robbery.

Mariah confessed that the robbery was planned for a time when the Burger King register was expected to be full of cash.

However, Antoine Edwards told police his daughter was not involved, and that Niesha was his only accomplice. He is being held on $100,000 bail.

Niesha's mother, Liceal Brazell, denied the allegations that her daughter was involved in staging the robbery.

She told FOX6, "It's really making me mad, it's making me angry. You told so many different lies, now you're going to tell more lies. That's not going to help you. That's not going to help your father."

GoFundMe has frozen the more than $40,592 collected for Niesha's funeral expenses.

A message on the account reads:

"This fundraiser is no longer accepting donations. If you are the organizer, beneficiary, team member, or donor, sign in to see additional information."

GoFundMe prohibits raising funds for people involved in criminal activity. If it is determined that Niesha was an accomplice in the robbery, the money will be refunded to donors.

A liquid nitrogen leak killed 6 people and injured 9 others at a Georgia food packing plant at 10:12 a.m. on Thursday.

Emergency medical personnel responded to a 911 call about people suffering from burns at Prime-Pak Foods, Inc. in Gainesville, about 60 miles northeast of Atlanta.

Hall County Fire and Rescue spokesman Zachary Brackett said a hazardous materials team also responded to the poultry packing plant, MSN reported.

A large number of employees were evacuated from the plant and multiple people were transported to hospitals.

Roads around the facility were shut down by police until the leak was contained.

A school bus took 130 employees to a nearby church to be evaluated by medical personnel.

Nitrogen is often used as a coolant in refrigeration systems to store food at extremely low temperatures.

Liquid nitrogen is a colorless, odorless, tasteless viscous gas that can't be detected by humans. Liquid nitrogen evaporates when exposed to warm air and it displaces the oxygen content in the air because nitrogen molecules are larger than oxygen molecules.

Humans die by asphyxiation as the nitrogen robs the body of oxygen. Inhaling pure nitrogen causes death in 40 seconds.
