The bodies of newborn twin girls were found in a trash bag in a bathroom inside a Chicago daycare center on Thursday.

Police and medics responded to a 911 child endangerment call at a child care center located in the Streeterville neighborhood, Fox News reports.

“Chicago police are conducting death investigations after two newborn girls were found dead inside a childcare center bathroom in Streeterville,” police said in a statement Thursday evening. “Dispatchers told responding officers that the babies were in a trash bag. The children were not breathing when first responders arrived.”

The babies were transported to a local hospital, where they were pronounced deceased.

A daycare center employee was transported to a different hospital, where she was treated for unspecified injuries.

“An emergency medical situation involving a daycare employee occurred this evening at the daycare facility on the Northwestern Memorial Hospital campus,” a spokesperson with Northwestern Medicine told FOX 32.

Police have no suspects in the case. No children were in the daycare center when the bodies were found.
