Chris Brown’s R&B concept album landed in the top 10 on the Billboard Hot 200 albums chart. The 27-track album, titled Brown, sold 65,000 copies in the first week.
The album features a diverse mix of artists, including Leon Thomas, Tank, Vybez Kartel, Bryson Tiller, NBA YoungBoy, GloRilla, Fridayy, Sexyy Red and Lucky Daye.
Critics did not hold back on their reviews of the new album.
Pitchfork rated Chris’ album a 1.3 out of 10 and called the project a “piece of sh*t.”
Chris was upset by the numbers and the response to his album. But no one hurt more than Chris’ fans and close friends.
R&B singer Tank, who appears on the album, rushed to defend his pal in a post on Instagram.
“The problem is most of you offer destructive criticism. You disguise hate for ‘opinion’… You expect us, human beings, to just accept that and keep it moving! While I respect his humility in this moment he doesn’t owe you that! Love it or hate have some fkn respect! Have some sense of morality or just be a decent human being while having an opinion! That’s all we artists ask.”
“Pitch who?” Tank wrote on X.com with laughing emojis.
One X.com user called tank Chris Brown’s “fanboy.”
Another person criticized Tank and argued that Brown’s music lacks inspiration.
“If you not my fan, I don’t want you to listen to my sh*t. Go listen to motherf*cking Zara Larsson or somebody.”
