Popular content creator Yolanda “Pinky” Gourdet asked her followers to help save her family home amid family drama.
Gourdet, best known online as “Miss Classy Beauty,” launched a GoFundMe page for donations to save her family home. Gourdet’s half-brother Daniel Gourdet filed a lawsuit in Florida against her.
In an emotional video, Gourdet said she is in a dispute with Daniel that could end in the sale of the home that she has maintained since her mother’s death. Gourdet was born and raised in Florida to Haitian immigrant parents. She said she helped care for her half-brother from a young age.
Problems began when her brother met a woman and fathered a child with her. Gourdet said his finances changed and she struggled to support his household while dealing with her own medical issues.
Court records shows Gourdet listed a home for rent in Palm Beach County. The address of the home is the same one in the lawsuit. Gourdet owns several properties in Florida. In 2021, she filed an eviction notice to remove a renter named R. Rashiem from the house.
She appealed to her followers for help on GoFundMe.
“I am currently in urgent need of securing an attorney so I can properly defend myself in a legal matter involving my half-brother and the potential sale of our family home,” she wrote in the summary. “Unfortunately, I am facing a very difficult situation where misinformation and outside influence are affecting decisions that could result in me losing my home. Since the passing of our mother, I have carried the responsibility of maintaining the home on my own, while also trying to keep everything stable.”
She continued: “The funds raised will go directly toward legal fees and court costs so I can secure proper representation and protect my home. This support will give me a fighting chance to keep the place that holds so many memories and has been my safe haven through difficult times. I am doing everything I can, but I cannot do this alone.”
