Music tycoon Kanye West bailed on Nike following a dispute over royalties. In a recent interview with New York’s HOT 97, Kanye explained:
“So [Nike] said, ok cool, we’re gonna give you a bigger sandbox to play in. We’re gonna give you this amount right here to design, and two collections a year, and 30 SKU — that’s the amount of items that you have. Would that make you happy, Kanye?” And rightfully so, Kanye replied: “I need royalties.”
In that same interview Kanye announced his partnership deal with Nike’s rival, Adidas. Well, it seems Nike had a surplus of Air Yeezy 2 “Red October” shoes left over from Kanye’s contract.
And to make sure no one takes the doors off the hinges to be first in line to cop the new Yeezys, Foot Locker announced the not-so-anticipated sneakers will be released online only on December 27th.
UPDATE: The Red Nike Air Yeezy 2 will be available ONLINE ONLY on December 27th at 8am EST.
