Following the chain snatching incident involving rapper 50 Cent at a concert in Angola last week, singer Akon will leave his bling at home when he travels to Africa tomorrow night.
Speaking via teleconference from his home in Atlanta, Akon confirmed that he had recovered from a sore throat that forced him to cancel a show last week. He will fly to Africa on a private jet chartered by the concert organizer.
Meanwhile, the African youth who snatched Fiddy’s bling was turned in to police by his own parents who recognized their crumb snatcher on a grainy video.
Actually they did shoot someone.
About 15 cops set on 3 black shooting suspects in Philly and stomped them senseless after a slow speed chase. Like Eddie Murphy suggested in the movie “Trading Places” – they used their nightsticks on ’em.
Let me be clear: I don’t like criminals and I have no sympathy for them when they are injured or maimed in the process of committing a crime.

Jay Z wasn’t at his wife’s side at the Costume Institute Gala the other night. But before tongues could start wagging, Beyoncé made sure she attended the Heart of the City Tour celebration at Jay Z’s 40/40 Club last night.

Atlanta rapper Yung Joc joins the ranks of rappers who try their hand at running record labels. He launched his own label called Swagg Team Entertainment to be distributed by Jive Records. The first artists to be released on the label is a Chicago rap group named Hotstylez. Joc said he heard about the group from DJ Hershey who downloaded their demo single “Lookin’ Boy” from the Internet.
Yung Joc reworked the track and will release a video for the song on May 12. Meanwhile Yung Joc has other business ventures lined up. In addition to the new label, he also plans to launch his own line of sunglasses with his dad called Claudio St. James.
That’s right Joc, keep the new money in the family!

Mildred Loving, a woman of color whose challenge to Virginia’s ban on interracial marriage led to a landmark decision by the Supreme Court, has died. Mildred passed away on Monday May 2, 2008 at her home in rural Milford, her daughter said Monday. She was 68.
Loving and her white husband, Richard, changed history in 1967 when the Supreme Court upheld their right to marry lifting the race mixing ban in 17 states.
Loving and her husband’s courageous action gave rise to a proliferation in mixed marriages that forever changed the racial composition of black people in America.
“It wasn’t my doing,” Loving said. “It was God’s work.”
“I want (people) to remember her as being strong and brave yet humble — and believed in love,” Peggy Fortune told The Associated Press.

I don’t for one second believe that Ne-Yo and Nicole with the last name that I can’t spell – are a couple. But some people do think they are based on the fact that Nicole and Ne-Yo tried to slip past waiting paparazzi after lunching at the Ivy in West Hollywood yesterday.
