Yesterday I had a spirited discussion with a friend about the ancient one drop rule and why most blacks in the post-slavery era refuse to let go of it. I’m so tired of hearing the excuse “because the white man says.”
Hopefully, Harlow will grow up to claim her entire heritage – not just the one drop part.

Rapper T.I. appeared on BET last night where he told host Touré (in so many words) that he was a changed man. “I guess it’s fair to say I’m humble as well as Blessed. I’m not bitter in any way,” T.I. told Touré. “I feel like in life you gotta accept the responsibility for the part you played.”

The trouble with the music industry today is when a really good wholesome song comes along that the entire family can enjoy – the music industry won’t promote it. If the song isn’t glorifying gang violence or degrading women, radio ignores it.
So please call up the radio stations in your area and ask them to play Good Day!

I’m not a big fan of reality TV shows, but I will watch Monica‘s reality show which is currently taping in Atlanta. Monica sent text messages to her fans letting them in on all the details. Listen to the message below.
Four days after a Philadelphia policeman was gunned down by brazen bank robbers, 15 officers dragged 3 black shooting suspects out of their vehicle and beat them with their fists, feet and batons after a slow speed chase. The incident was caught on tape by a FOX news helicopter.
The beatings drew a firestorm of protests from the mothers of the 3 suspects and city officials including the Mayor. “I burst out and cried. I was appalled,” said the mother of one of the suspects after viewing the video.
In the media’s rush for ratings following the incident, very few reporters mentioned the fact that police officers witnessed these guys shoot three men.
In the wake of the acquittal of 3 NYC police officers who fired 50 shots into a car killing Sean Bell on his wedding day, the Rev. Al Sharpton promised to shut the city down.
Sharpton made good on his promise by organizing a peaceful pray-in at the spot where Bell lost his life.
The protests were part of a coordinated campaign to urge federal authorities to investigate the November 2006 shooting of Sean Bell. Three officers were acquitted of state charges last month.
Sharpton, shooting survivors Trent Benefield and Joseph Guzman, and Bell’s fiancee, Nicole Paultre Bell, lined up and peacefully put their hands behind their backs as police put plastic handcuffs on them. Sharpton and Bell were placed in a police vehicle.
The civil rights leader is seeking a federal civil rights probe into Bell’s shooting outside a Queens nightclub. The case raised questions about police use of deadly force in minority neighborhoods.

Star Jones responded to Barbara Walters allegations about her in her new book. In the book, Walters said she and her other View cohosts were forced to lie about Jones’ gastric bypass surgery which made Walters uncomfortable.
But Jones responded by questioning Walters’ character. Walters admitted in her book and on Oprah yesterday that she had a three-year affair with a married man who happened to be black. Well I Googled the man that Barbara had the affair with and it turns out he’s biracial.
Not that it matters, but he looks more white than black to me, so why not call him what he is which is mixed or biracial?
In an interview with USmagazine.com, Star Jones said of Barbara:
“It is a sad day when an icon like Barbara Walters, in the sunset of her life, is reduced to publicly branding herself as an adulterer, humiliating an innocent family with accounts of her illicit affair and speaking negatively against me all for the sake of selling a book,” Jones told Us. “It speaks to her true character.” (Source)

UPDATE:
The search has ended for the 7-year-old Paulding County boy reported missing from his home this morning. Volunteers found Amani Cousin apparently unharmed, around 2:20 p.m., authorities said.
Amani was found close to his home in the Proctor Place subdivision off Proctor Road, southwest of Dallas.
Amani’s father called 911 shortly after 8 a.m. to report his son missing, Paulding sheriff’s Cpl. Brandon Gurley said.
Gurley said Amani was last seen about 2:40 a.m. at his father’s residence.
Amani’s mother had been notified and was assisting in the search, Gurley said. (Source)

NFL star Michael Strahan and Eddie Murphy‘s ex Nicole Murphy were spotted out last night at the Sport Musem of America gala in NY.
Is it just my imagination or does Nicole Murphys’ features look softer and more feminine since she escaped split from Eddie Murphy?
