T.I. to take plea deal

Photo by Freddyo Exclusively for Sandrarose.com

According to two sources close to rapper T.I. who spoke to the media on condition of anonymity, T.I., real name Clifford Harris, will change his plea to guilty and serve 1500 hours of community service speaking to youth groups around the country – followed by 12 months in jail. (Source) What does that mean? Will he go on a speaking tour and then go to jail?

This is great news for T.I. and his very supportive family and friends who have suffered throughout this ordeal. The good news explains why T.I. appeared so happy at his recent family outing to Easter services at the Georgia Dome last Sunday.

It also very much explains why an inside source indicated to me a few days ago that T.I. might possibly attend his fiancee Tiny‘s baby shower next month.

She indicated that T.I. was very much involved in the planning phase of the party, which led me to ask if he would be attending. The source was very vague in her response, and I assumed she meant T.I. would ask for a reprieve from house arrest again.

Thank God that T.I. will be free to attend the birth of his son. A name is already picked out for the baby, but the name is a well-guarded secret.

Does Tameka know about this b*tch?

42

After getting the cold shoulder from his wife Tameka Foster-Raymond on the set of his new video, you would think Usher wouldn’t be caught dead walking with another b*tch. Oh, wait that’s a dog.

According to the NY Post, witnesses reported that the couple barely spoke to one another when they were spotted at the Beverly Hills Hotel recently. It seems Meka is still mad that he hand picked the gorgeous Keri Hilson to be his leading lady in the video. How much do you want to bet Tameka asked him, “do you think she’s prettier than me?”

Mary J. Blige sues bootleggers BEFORE they get a chance to bootleg

In a move that is completely legal, superstar Mary J. Blige filed a lawsuit in a Manhattan courtroom against street vendors who plan to sell bootlegged t-shirts and other tour memorabilia outside her concert tomorrow.

She can do that because of a law allowing people to sue “Jane Does” and “John Does” who will be named at a later date. Mary and Jay Z are set to perform a sold out show at NY’s Coliseum tomorrow night.

Bootleggers beware!

“She is suing John Does and Jane Does numbered 1 though 100, so law enforcement can confiscate the bogus stuff as they are selling it. They are sued under fictitious names because their true names are unknown at this time.” (Source)

Laila Ali expecting a baby

Champion boxer Laila Ali and her husband, former NFL star Curtis Conway, are expecting a baby according to an exclusive story in Essence magazine. Sports excellency will run through that baby’s veins: Laila is the daughter of former World boxing champ Muhammad Ali:

“I don’t know yet if we are having a boy or a girl, but I’m excited that I have a life inside me that my husband and I created,” Ali says in the May issue, which hits newsstands April 11.

The boxing champ, who co-hosts American Gladiators, and Conway married last July in the rose garden of the Ritz-Carlton in Marina del Rey, Calif.

Among the 200 guests were Laila’s parents, Muhammad Ali and Veronica Porsche Anderson, along with her sister Hana Ali, who was a bridesmaid.

This is the first child for Ali and the fourth for Conway, who has twin sons, Kelton and Cameron, 13, and a daughter Leilani, 9.

“I am 100 percent undeniably happy,” Ali tells ESSENCE. “I’ve never been able to say that before.”

Ali, 30, and Conway, 37, met at his house, when he hosted a small get-together, which Ali attended with a friend. The pair became engaged on Thanksgiving 2006.

Shortly after their wedding, Ali told PEOPLE that married life was “excellent.”

“My husband and I are best friends,” she said. “We have great communication and we respect each other.” (Source)

Celebrity Seed: 3/26

a baby is never too young to have their own cell phone! On Monday, model Heidi Klum, 34, spent the day at the park with her children Leni, 3 ½, Henry, 2, and Johan, 16 months. Dad is hunky singer Seal.

Actress Garcelle Beauvais-Nilon, 41, covers JET magazine with her fraternal twin sons, Jaid Thomas (l) and Jax Joseph (r), 5 months. The twins got ALL their genes from dad Michael Nilon. This photo makes an excellent case for those who insist on calling biracial children black.

Are we going to remain slaves to America’s archaic way of thinking on race? If America says they’re purple should we go along with that? Shouldn’t we denounce the centuries old racist rule and give these children their own identity?

Video: Tony Yayo interviews Rocko Da Don

Edited to reflect the fact that Rocko wasn’t involved in the scuffle with a NY Times reporter.

Thanks to Shawn Smith at Wiredset.com for sending this video of the bitch made Tony Yayo interviewing Rocko Da Don during his visit to the G Unit camp.

If you recall, Yayo was recently sentenced to 10 days community service for “harassing” the 14-year-old son of Jimmy “Henchmen” Rosemond. In the interest of fairness, a member of a street team linked to Def Jam was involved in a scuffle with a NY Post blogger recently.

Why Madonna has Mariah beat

According to Perez Hilton, Madonna just might come out on top in the battle of the singles between herself and Mariah Carey. Try to follow this expert analysis if you can:

“You cannot really compare Madonna’s song with Mariah’s because….

-If you look at the complete iTunes singles chart, Madonna is in there 3 times with the same song. All together, she would be much higher than #10. Mariah is only on there once.

-Madonna’s was available Tuesday while Mariah’s Monday.

– Madonna’s song is #1 on Amazon downloads.

– Also, look at the complete album chart on iTunes, Madonna is also there twice (#3, #22) with the same album, which counted as one, would probably take her higher than #3.”

Got that?

Did Tameka Foster cut up on the set of Usher’s video?

29

According to Page Six, Usher‘s wife Tameka Foster-Raymond pitched a fit when she learned Usher “hand picked” singer/producer/songwriter Keri Hilson to play his leading lady in the video for his #1 single “Love in This Club”.

As you read the following, please remember that Page Six is allegedly one of the main recipients of bogus stories “leaked” by highly paid publicists.

USHER’S wife, Tameka Foster, isn’t going to let any woman make moves on her man – even if that’s her job.

Foster was “domineering” and displayed her trademark “Tameka wrath” during a video shoot for Usher’s new song, “Love in the Club,” the weekend of March 15 in LA.

Soundscan Scam: something in the milk ain’t clean

Eyebrows were raised when Rick Ross sold 200,000 units of his 2nd studio CD Trilla. His feat led many in the industry to ask, how could Rick Ross sell more units than Janet Jackson or Snoop Dogg?

Does the problem lie with Soundscan’s tracking system or is the problem within the labels? Are the labels unfairly inflating sales figures by buying and selling back CDs to record distributors?

This is a practice that labels such as Def Jam have been accused of for years. For instance, it’s common knowledge that some mainstream labels have been paying off record stores to double and triple scan CDs in order to inflate sales.

According to this online report:

A few years ago, some record labels paid third-party firms to ship boxes of free CDs to independent retailers, who then scanned the CDs as bogus sales. Because it was a weighted store, each scan counted as a multiple “sale.” The labels did not profit financially from the scam, but they got to boast of their artists’ hefty weekly sales.

The writer goes on to say when an artist does an instore, the CDs purchased there are usually double and triple scanned. But why isn’t there a safeguard in place to prevent this type of widespread cheating in the first place?

Critics argue that Soundscan has placed an emphasis on “new” artists with “instant hits” like Souljah Boy. Most of these new artists don’t have chart longevity. “The weekly numbers allow labels to see which artists are showing strong sales, and thus, which artists are worth promoting for the long-term.” Established artists who don’t show strong weekly numbers see less support from their labels.

Because of this, artists such as Bobby Valentino, are turning to online distributors like iTunes to promote their own CDs. Did Def Jam kill the radio star?
