Are we going to remain slaves to America’s archaic way of thinking on race? If America says they’re purple should we go along with that? Shouldn’t we denounce the centuries old racist rule and give these children their own identity?

If a person looks black I call them black. That’s the bottom line on that. On job documents and census forms they are more than welcome to call themselves biracial. I’m talking about what I see. Garcelle’s babies are light skinned. Almost all babies are lighter at birth than they will eventually become. Even with white babies, many have blond hair until they get their real hair color. There was a contestant on ANTM who, like Rasheeda Jones, was biracial but looked white. I call her white. It goes both ways.

Those babies are hella white.With technology as it is and Garcelle being over 40 they can give her eggs from another woman and implant them in her, or use any other combination of factors,those babies hair should atleast be a little curly or they should have some more color to them. Garcelle is a brown skin woman and no-way should his genes have taken over that much. You are crazy lol. I took my son who happens to be light skinned to the doctor yesterday and the receptionist asked me if he was hispanic. I said no and he said are you sure. People are crazy when it comes to race. Just call me by my name. If I am African-American what do you call the white person that moves to the US from Africa?

My coworker and I had a discussion about race also and about Mariah and Nicole Richie considering themselves black. How the discussion started is that he made that old statement, “If you got a little black in ya, well you black.” I dont agree. There nothing wrong with Mariah saying she’s white, because she looks it to me and same the same for Nicole, but I dont what’s her race. There alot white people got white in them and dont look it and it would be absolutely STUPID for them to say there black.

Black people just want people to be on there team. There’s nothing wrong with people claiming there white if it obvious. But in the case of Tiger Woods, he makes himself look kinda stupid. But whatever makes him feels good.

I wasn’t born in africa neither was my mother, grandma, or great-grandma…therefore I am just an American, now Charlize Theron is African American because she was born in Africa and lives in America and I know people are gonna say well your ancestors are from Africa…how do you know that, what if they are from the Bahamas? so I think people really need to get it together when it comes to the race issue!! Anyway just because those twins are white doesn’t mean they didn’t get pregnant the natural way. When me and my twin sister were born we were near white(my mom is mixed).Its all about your genes and his is stronger than hers so what they look cute and they are probably going to get a little darker as they get older .

I think its crazy that people who are not mixed want to tell me what I should call myself. My dad is white and my mom is black. I will be whatever I choose to be. By society standards if you have a certain percentage of black in you your considered black any way.

If you did not grow up bi-racial then dont comment on it. Some of us had it harder than blacks who are not mixed. even though alot of blacks are mixed with something.

I was watching College Hill Atlanta and they were having the African American conversation and the girl from Africa got upset because I believe it was one of the Ashley’s said she was not African American. I know plenty of foreign exchange students that come to the US from Africa and do not understand how we are African Americans.

I consider myself to be African American m ancestors are from Africa b/c the birth of civilization started in AfricA 9remember Lucy)So regardless if some of my ancestors ome from the Bahamas at some point at sometime they came from Africa.I never Italian Americans or Mexican Americans say I’m not from Mexico or Italy I’ve never been there. I seriously believe Black ppl are ashamed to be from Africa b/c of how Africa is portrayed and it’s damn shame.It’s bad enough we los most of our heritage, we don’t have a language(and ebonics is not a language ppl)

anyway race is a fake concept if anyone has every studied Anthropology, basically we classify people based on their physical features and not their genetic background, did you know that there are Australians with dark dark brown skin, bigger noses, but blonde hair? BASICALLY AMERICA DOESNT WANT TO SHOW THAT SO WE ALL THINK AUSIES HAVE WHITE PHYSICAL FEATURES, but thats not true!

Look at Gisele , she’s Brazilian, but not all Brazilians are claro like that (light or fair), think about it there were African slaves in Brazil so there is a large population of Afro Brazilians but the media does not show you that, they make you think all Brazilians are either claro or mulatto and even the title moreno is sometimes referred to dark hair and dark eyes and a tan but not neccessarily black….

What i find so hilarious is that a innocent post about children turns around into a race issue so quickly . This world is in for a rude awakening because these children will have to face people who will judge them and criticize them when they find out that there parents are of different races and they look nothing like there mother or vice versa i know the world will never get past the skin color but we can all just try and be a little more educated about things before we judge.

I don’t care what folks call themselves either, but when you say I’m not from Africa therefore I’m not an African…I’m just American it does sort of seem like some one trying to denounce who/what they are. Now if you say Black American then cool, but there are folks who don’t even like that title. Why cant I just be an American? Why do I have to be a Black American,,,,Well why can’t I just be a billionaire? Why do I have to take my ass to work every day.lol. Because it is what it is. I’m just saying. Especially when it seems we are the only ones who have this argument. I know plenty of Mexican men and women who were born in the U.S. but have no problem with the term Mexican. They don’t look like identical twins to me.

far as I’m concerned I’m black. I’ve never been to Africa and I wasn’t born in America so I don’t consider myself to be African American.

When I was young we were colored, then James Brown said, “I’m black and I’m proud,” so we became black. Then Jesse Jackson said, no, we’re African American. So that’s what we became. we have to be the only race that can’t make up our minds what we want to classify ourselves as.

Reminds me of Naima who won one season of Top Model. She was 1/4 black or something but looked Spanish. She ain’t never called herself Black the whole show till she stepped foot in Africa. I am of mixed heritage my mother is Mexican and white and my father is African American. I have six brothers and sisters and we range in all shades and eye color. I have cousins with blue, hazel eyes my brother has blond hair. I claim both of my heritage’s I love being who I am when we visit my grandfather for the 1st time in Mexico I loved it I was tripping I really have Mexican cousins it was beautiful. They have REAL geneticist test peoples dna for african blood. The results were interesting. Why should anyone care how others classify them anyway?

Well to all the people who have a problem with me saying that I’m not African American…yall can kick rocks…and no EVERYBODY thats black ancestors are from AFRICA…try doing some research, first of all who the hell gonna go trace that shit back to the begining of time??? so if your people came from AFRICA and live in america, then they are African American, then so be it this is my opinion not a debate. and technically I’m brown if you wanna get technical, if i pull out a box of crayons, and put the black to my skin it doesn’t match. I have a little sister thats 6 years old and if you tell her shes black, she will say no, I’m brown, and we didn’t teach her that she learned about that when she started learning colors. so there you have it!!!

Actually bob marley is also biracial. Being black in is a lot more about expirience than skin tone. Its food, music, language family neighborhoods church etc. thats why I agree with tiger woods not saying he was just black. he grew up with an asian mother(food music couisins etc) How could he just dismiss that from his sense of self? My problem with the term biracial is a child half asian half say latin is grouped together with a half white half black child?
