Local rap legends Tip "T.I." Harris and Killer Mike have plans to reopen the once popular Bankhead Seafood restaurant.

The duo purchased the seafood eatery in January 2020, but their plans to reopen the restaurant was derailed by the pandemic.

Now those plans are back on, according to the Atlanta Business Chronicle.

They plan to rebuild and reopen Bankhead Seafood on Donald Lee Hollowell Parkway on Atlanta's Westside.

Rebuilding Bankhead Seafood is estimated to cost $1.8 million, and an additional $185,000 to update the parking lot.

The venture will be expensive, but Killer Mike recently secured financing to launch his own Black-owned bank online.

Both men have had some success with retail in Atlanta. T.I. owns a clothing line, and he once employed a dozen people in his restaurant on Ivan Allen Jr. Boulevard.

A 9-year-old boy and his mom launched a company to sell affirming and inspiring dolls for boys called "Our Brown Boy Joy."

Demetrius Maurice Davis, Jr., aka "Lil Dee", is the CEO of Our Brown Boy Joy, a plush doll line for young Black boys.

Lil Dee started the company at age 8 with his mom, Luciana Gilmore, to change the narrative about Black youth in the United States.

The Our Brown Boy Joy website states the ultimate goal of the toy line is "Building Confident Brown Boys through visual, play, and educational representation."

"It is important to me because I want the world to think good things about Brown boys," Lil Dee tells PEOPLE. "We aren't bad, or mean, or trouble; we are smart, fun, and creative."

Gilmore said she came up with the idea for the plush dolls because her son loves toys but he couldn't find any boy dolls in toy stores.

"My son loves toys and we would go to many stores and not see anything in the aisles that look like my son."

"My mother had a mentoring business for girls, and I felt like there wasn't anything for me," Lil Dee tells PEOPLE. "I begged my mother to focus on boys."

"Our boys are often depicted negatively in the media," Gilmore said.

"On store shelves, the representation is minimal. And within the toys category, there is almost none for our boys. We must have opportunities for our boys to see themselves positively everywhere. Representation matters."

Gilmore, a former school principal in Cleveland, said she dressed the "My Friend" doll in a hoodie to "bring attention to the things that are going on in our community," such as the Trayvon Martin murder in Florida.

The doll, which retails for $49 to $59 each, recites inspiring messages when it is squeezed.

"We wanna make sure that they constantly hear messages and affirmations of how wonderful they are. That they're smart," Gilmore said. "Because there's a narrative that is out worldwide that we wanna make sure that we are changing."

She said her son has subscription boxes that comes out monthly and is filled affirming toys for boys.

"The response has been awesome!" Lil Dee tells PEOPLE.

"Having people send pictures, email me, or walk up to me and say thank you has made me so happy. I think people really like the affirmations the dolls say, and they are in my voice."

Rapper and social justice activist Killer Mike was forced to delay the planned reopening of his Atlanta barbershop after it was hit by stray bullets over the weekend.

The streets of Atlanta have been turned into a war zone by out-of-towners fleeing their locked down blue states. Gang bangers are drawn to the area by the wide open atmosphere and packed nightclubs and restaurants.

The "Run The Jewels" rap star had been preparing to welcome customers back to his SWAG barbershop, but he had to rethink his plans after the property was riddled with bullets following a nearby shootout between a group of men.

The store has since had its windows boarded up and the broken glass cleared away until they can be repaired. Killer Mike, real name Michael Render, took to Instagram to share his outrage over the incident.

"It was not a personal attack but it was black men who cud not shoot for s**t shooting at one another," he wrote.

Mike went on to admit he is more frustrated about the senseless violence that continues to take place on the streets of his native city. He used his post to send a message to those involved.

"Please consider what would have happened if one of y'all actually hit one another," he continued. "The jail, the lawyer fees, the funeral cost and two black families loss. I'm glad y'all cud not hit the side of a barn with a shot gun cuz this am y'all all are alive [sic]."

He also expressed his thanks to local community members and police for helping with the clean up effort, and promised to reopen the SWAG Shop as soon as possible.

Authorities have yet to identify any suspects in the shooting, according to TMZ.

Wendy Williams' ex-husband, Kevin Hunter, is giving Kenya Moore's ex, Marc Daly, some competition.

Daly, who recently filed for divorce from Moore, owns and operates a restaurant in Brooklyn.

Now comes word, that Hunter is opening an Italian restaurant in downtown Brooklyn named Loreto.

"Time to work on MY LEGACY!!" he wrote in the caption of a video of the restaurant's exterior on Twitter.com. "For a kid from Brownsville Brooklyn this is a dream come true. To be apart [sic] of an amazing team to create something so extraordinary."

"I look forward to nothing but success," Hunter added. "Continue to thank God for the blessings."

Sources say the seed money for the new restaurant came from his ex-wife and silent partner, Wendy, 56. The two were spotted having lunch together after he attended Wendy's mother's funeral.

Hunter, 48, described Loreto as "exquisite high end Italian cuisine" and said he will host a soft opening on Valentine's Day, Feb. 14.

Hunter's announcement comes days after Williams' documentary, "Wendy Williams: What a Mess!," premiered to high ratings on Lifetime Television.

The former child star debuted his first single, "I Like It" at age 12. Now 33, Sammie is focused on living healthy and using natural skin and hair products.

"I've done some campaigns with Mielle, so I keep my beard and hair moisturized with [their] organic products," the crooner said of his grooming regimen. "Soap and water does not do any harm to me, so I just add on coconut oil and prayer. Just staying at peace ... I really don't be tripping about nothing, so I think that's what helps my skin and hair grow the way it does, no filter."

Added Sammie, "I use rosemary mint oil by Mielle for my beard. I just pick it out every morning, use some olive oil in there and I go out flourishing in the world."

Sammie's fifth studio album, Such is Life, is out now and he's writing a book titled "Good to Know" to "let women know the mindset of a man."
