The evening will also include musical performances from Alice Smith and Maimouna 'Mumu Fresh' Youssef, Grammy Award-winning gospel singer Tasha Cobbs Leonard and DJ Aktive.

Actor Wood Harris ("The Wire") and Grammy Award-winning singer Estelle will also make appearances during the 15th anniversary gala.

The gala will be hosted by actress Tatyana Ali ("Fresh Prince") and rap icon MC Lyte (pictured below).

The virtual gala will stream live on the newly-launched BGR!TV network.

"It is an honor to support (Black Girls Rock! founder and CEO) Beverly Bond (pictured) and this amazing organization and movement that she has built," said Chaka, whose boyfriend, comedian Paul Mooney died this week.

"I am so excited to headline Black Girls Rock!'s 15-year anniversary fundraising gala during the launch of BGR!TV, which will continue to be an inspiration to all generations, lifting legends, and making sure that black women's enormous contributions to society are acknowledged."

Tickets for the gala can be purchased online at www.blackgirlsrock.com.

British songstress Estelle was spotted out & about in Covent Garden, London outside Bungalow 8 early this morning wearing an unsightly rag on her head. Maybe she threw the rag on her head hoping the paps wouldn't spot her. The young singer often dresses like an old woman, and she will regret that when she gets older.

We here at Sandrarose.com are happy to see the industry finally giving recognition and respect to our talented Nubian sistahs. British singer Estelle was in the states last week promoting her new single "American Boy" featuring Kanye West. This new emphasis on non-conventional artists signals a new direction for the music industry which is in the midst of its worst sales slump in history. Obviously something is broken and needs fixing.
