Halle Berry defended 'The Little Mermaid' star Halle Bailey who is still under attack by 'Mermaid' fans.

The Oscar-winning actress was mistaken for Bailey on Twitter. One person tweeted to Berry, "Can't wait to see you under da sea!"

Berry snapped back "Wrong Halle lol. I can't wait to see her too though!"

Other Twitter users confused 56-year-old Berry for Bailey, who is 22.

One person tweeted "Halle Berry is nearly 60 playing the role of a 16-year-old girl. This is what happens when you upset a fandom."

The Little Mermaid, written by Hans Christian Andersen in 1837, is a fairy tale about a fish who dreams of being human.

Disney released its fully animated film The Little Mermaid in 1989, featuring Jodi Benson voicing Ariel, a fish who falls in love with a human prince named Eric.

Disney flipped the script for its 2023 live-action 'Mermaid' film by casting Bailey, a Black actress, to play the part of Ariel, who falls in love with Eric, played by a white actor.

However, the movie is being marketed to white audiences, who strongly disapprove.

Disney debuted the 'Mermaid' trailer on Sept. 9 on its YouTube channel.

Over 1.5 million YouTube users disliked the Disney trailer and voiced their opinions in over 200,000 comments.

YouTube previously disabled the downvote feature, but a Chrome browser extension restored the function.

Meghan Markle says she was not treated as a Black woman in America until she began dating Britain's Prince Harry.

The Duchess of Sussex interviewed American pop singer Mariah Carey in the latest episode of her No. 1 ranked Spotify podcast "Archetypes."

Archetypes shot to number 1 two days after it dropped, replacing "The Joe Rogan Experience" as the top podcast on Spotify in America on Thursday.

Meghan, 41, and Mariah, 53, spoke about their shared experiences as biracial women growing up in America.

"I didn't fit in. I didn't fit in," said Mariah, who moved with her family over a dozen times as a child. She is pictured with rapper Jay Z in a photo dated January 27, 2018.

"You know, it would be more of the Black area of town or then you could be where my mom chose to live, were the more, the white neighborhoods. And I didn't fit in anywhere at all," Mariah said.

Pool/Getty Images

"Yeah, I understand that," Meghan said, adding that she looked forward to welcoming Mariah on her podcast because they looked like each other.

"You were so formative for me. Representation matters so much," Meghan said.

"But when you are a woman and you don't see a woman who looks like you somewhere in a position of power or influence, or even just on the screen — because we know how influential media is — you came onto the scene, I was like 'Oh, my gosh. Someone kind of looks like me.'"

Meghan said she was also inspired by biracial Oscar-winning actress Halle Berry, who couldn't easily pass as white because her skin was dark.

BACKGRID

"I had read this article about Halle Berry, and they were asking her how she felt being treated as a mixed-race woman in the world. And her response was her saying, 'Well, your experience through the world is how people view you.' So she said because she was darker in color, she was being treated as a Black woman, not as a mixed woman."

"And I think for us, it's very different because we're light-skinned," Meghan added. "You're not treated as a Black woman. You're not treated as a white woman. You sort of fit in between."

Meghan enjoyed her privilege as a white woman in America, until she began dating Prince Harry.

"I mean, if there's any time in my life that it's been more focused on my race, it's only once I started dating my husband. Then I started to understand what it was like to be treated like a Black woman. Because up until then, I had been treated like a mixed woman. And things really shifted."

As we close this chapter, we ask that in your remembrance of him, you remember to love your neighbor as yourself, because that is what Coronji did for his entire community."

Young M.A. went viral in July after saying she wanted to have a baby, according to Vlad TV.

"I want a boy first, then a girl. That's it. I'd rather a boy first," she said.

"I told my girl this. I'd rather a boy first, because he'd be the one taking care of his little sister and he got to hold it down. That's how it was with me and my brother."

Young M.A.'s comments prompted speculation that she was pregnant. She later clarified that her girlfriend would carry the child, since she - Young M.A. - identifies as a male.

Halle Berry won a major victory in child support court -- her monthly child support payments to her ex, Gabriel Aubry, have been slashed in half.

The Oscar winner was ordered to pay Aubry $16,000-a-month following the couple's split, so he could cover expenses for their 13-year-old daughter Nahla, but due to Covid-19, revenues for movie stars are down across the board.

Thanks to a new settlement, Halle is now ordered to pay her ex $8,000-a-month for their daughter.

As part of the deal, obtained by The Blast, Halle has agreed to pay "retroactive" support to Gabriel and cover Nahla's private school tuition and health insurance.

The Monster's Ball star has also agreed to pay Gabriel additional child support if her income exceeds $1.95 million in any given year, and she must also contribute $5,000 to Gabriel's attorney's fees and costs.

The former lovers have also agreed to exchange annual income information and tax returns, as well as other documents.

Halle Berry has finally found her perfect match in Van Hunt. The Oscar-winning actress celebrated Van's 51st birthday with a tribute post on Instagram.

"A real woman can do it all by herself, but a real MAN won't let her," she wrote in on Monday, March 8. "I Only Wish I'd Known You Sooner," she added.

Halle, 54, endured a long history of failed relationships before she met the right man who has the patience and fortitude to handle a woman like Halle.

How do we know she found the right one? Because their body language is perfect together and he doesn’t look stressed like her other men.

Van is a R&B producer and singer who won the 2007 Best R&B Performance by a Duo Or Group Grammy Award for his song "Family Affair".

They began dating after she dumped 38-year-old music producer Alexander Grant in 2018.

Halle was married to former baseball star David Justice from 1993 to 1997. She divorced singer Eric Benet in 2005; and finalized her divorce from French actor Olivier Martinez in 2015.

The title of the post is "Spending Valentine's Day Solo." The subtitle reads: "We're never alone when we're connecting with ourselves."

Halle urged her readers to love themselves and avoid the pressure of being in a relationship on Valentine's Day.

As Michael Reid, also known as the poet JustMike, said, "You're single because you know your worth and won't take anything less than what you deserve."

Make Valentine's Day the day you put yourself and your needs first. Self-love is one of the most powerful tools we have. It isn’t just a simple state of mind when you’re feeling good, but rather a feeling of appreciation for yourself that grows over time. While self-care is one aspect of self-love, it also stems from living intentionally, protecting your energy, and setting boundaries, both in your platonic and romantic relationships.

Last week, Halle, who has been divorced three times, responded to Instagram users who insisted she can't keep a man.

When an Instagram user suggested she "had some trouble with men", she fired back: "Nope, they had trouble with me".

Halle Berry doesn't care what anyone thinks about her history of failed relationships with emotionally unavailable men.

The mom-of-two clapped back at internet trolls who insisted she relied on men to take care of her.

Halle, who has been divorced three times, responded to Instagram users who left negative comments on a recent meme she shared which said "women don't owe you sh*t".

After a follower replied that isn't "what most wives tell their husbands who pay for everything", Halle said: "Well i'm not one of them. no man has ever taken care of me... EVER!"

When another user suggested she "had some trouble with men", she fired back: "Nope, they had trouble with me".

The former X-Men star - who has previously been married to baseball player David Justice, musician Eric Benet and French actor Oliver Martinez - insisted she is focused on living her "best life" and learning from past mistakes.

The 54-year-old tough-as-nails Leo had a message for one person who said she "can't keep a man". She replied brilliantly: "Who said i wanted to keep them? i'm all about living your best life. if you make a wrong move, course correct and re-spin and start again!"

Halle is representing herself in her ongoing divorce from Olivier that was filed in 2015.

Halle broke up with 38-year-old music producer Alexander Grant in 2017. She hasn't dated a man since the breakup.

Halle Berry has finally confirmed she is dating singer Van Hunt after posting a photo of herself wearing a T-shirt with the singer's logo on it on Instagram.

The 54-year-old Oscar winner has dropped hints about a new boyfriend for months, but she refused to name him - until now.

On Thursday she posted the photo and captioned it: "now ya know...", adding a black heart and brown foot emoji, seemingly referencing all the snaps she has shared of her and the mystery man's feet in bed.

Halle's new post comes two weeks after Van shared a selfie, in which the Monster's Ball star is kissing his cheek.

"kisses land softly," the 50-year-old singer captioned the shot.

One of Berry's mystery feet photos was posted on Instagram in July along with a red heart emoji.

It came weeks after the actress shared why she has been single for so long since her divorce from French actor Olivier Martinez during an Instagram Live chat with pal Lena Waithe.

"I've learned a lot being with my children," Berry said. "They are the best company for me right now, and when I divorced Maceo's dad I've been pretty alone by myself going on three years now. Decidedly so, for sure.

"I have decided to take time. I'm very much a relationship-oriented person; I always want to be with someone. But I decided, 'No I'm going to slow my roll, I'm going to take a minute and I'm going to spend time with me'. And it's been so great that I think I might stay like this!"

Halle Berry shared a message of self-love with her followers on Instagram.com. She shared a beautiful topless photo that shows the actress embracing herself. She captioned the image: "Self-love is never selfish."

The 54-year-old mom-of-two shared the artsy photo a day after it was reported that she plans to represent herself in her divorce from her third husband Olivier Martinez.

She filed for divorce in 2015 after two years of marriage. The couple share a 6-year-old son, Maceo.

Hollywood insiders whisper that Berry is representing herself because the case has dragged on for 5 years and she can no longer afford to pay a divorce lawyer.

According to BET, her former attorney, Marina Zakiyan Beck, withdrew from the case on July 30.

Martinez, 54, is being represented by celebrity divorce attorney Laura Wasser.

Berry has a 7-year-old daughter, Nahla Ariela, with former model Gabriel Aubry.

Halle Berry shared a rare peek into her personal life at home with her 2 children during the novel coronavirus outbreak in California.

The 53-year-old Oscar winner shared video footage of her son Maceo Martinez wearing a pair of her white high-heeled boots. In the video he is seen attempting to climb up the hardwood stairs while wearing his mother's boots.

Halle captioned the video: "#Quarantine Day 12."

The video raised eyebrows amid concerned social media users who are still trying to process the news that Dwyane Wade's son, Zaya Wade, thinks he's a girl.

Child advocates shamed Halle for allowing the boy to play on the stairs in her boots. They say navigating stairs in high heels is risky even for women who have mastered the art of walking in heels.
