Don Lemon expressed his shock that Meghan Markle passed as a mixed woman until she began dating Britain's Prince Harry.

In an interview with Mariah Carey on her Spotify podcast, Meghan said she passed as "mixed" until she started dating her future husband.

"And I think, for us it's so different because we're light-skinned," she told Mariah.

"You're not treated as a Black woman. You're not treated as a white woman, you sort of fit in between. I mean, if there's any time in my life that it's been more focused on my race, it's only once I started dating my husband. Then I started to understand what it was like to be treated like a Black woman. Because up until then, I had been treated like a mixed woman. And things really shifted."

Meghan said her mixed race privilege meant she "did not have to deal with racism" until she married Prince Harry.

Lemon was shocked that Meghan didn't understand the Black experience until she married a white man.

"I commend Meghan Markle for going there, even though it is a bit shocking that at 30-some years of age, she is just understanding what it's like to be a black woman in America," Lemon told his fellow co-anchors on Wednesday morning.

Meghan Markle says she was not treated as a Black woman in America until she began dating Britain's Prince Harry.

The Duchess of Sussex interviewed American pop singer Mariah Carey in the latest episode of her No. 1 ranked Spotify podcast "Archetypes."

Archetypes shot to number 1 two days after it dropped, replacing "The Joe Rogan Experience" as the top podcast on Spotify in America on Thursday.

Meghan, 41, and Mariah, 53, spoke about their shared experiences as biracial women growing up in America.

"I didn't fit in. I didn't fit in," said Mariah, who moved with her family over a dozen times as a child. She is pictured with rapper Jay Z in a photo dated January 27, 2018.

"You know, it would be more of the Black area of town or then you could be where my mom chose to live, were the more, the white neighborhoods. And I didn't fit in anywhere at all," Mariah said.

Pool/Getty Images

"Yeah, I understand that," Meghan said, adding that she looked forward to welcoming Mariah on her podcast because they looked like each other.

"You were so formative for me. Representation matters so much," Meghan said.

"But when you are a woman and you don't see a woman who looks like you somewhere in a position of power or influence, or even just on the screen — because we know how influential media is — you came onto the scene, I was like 'Oh, my gosh. Someone kind of looks like me.'"

Meghan said she was also inspired by biracial Oscar-winning actress Halle Berry, who couldn't easily pass as white because her skin was dark.

BACKGRID

"I had read this article about Halle Berry, and they were asking her how she felt being treated as a mixed-race woman in the world. And her response was her saying, 'Well, your experience through the world is how people view you.' So she said because she was darker in color, she was being treated as a Black woman, not as a mixed woman."

"And I think for us, it's very different because we're light-skinned," Meghan added. "You're not treated as a Black woman. You're not treated as a white woman. You sort of fit in between."

Meghan enjoyed her privilege as a white woman in America, until she began dating Prince Harry.

"I mean, if there's any time in my life that it's been more focused on my race, it's only once I started dating my husband. Then I started to understand what it was like to be treated like a Black woman. Because up until then, I had been treated like a mixed woman. And things really shifted."

Sandy Springs Police Department said the three male suspects are linked to a plethora of home invasions in Sandy Springs, an affluent suburb north of Atlanta.

Police flew to Miami, Florida to interview the three suspects, 24-year-old Jeremy Caldwell, Terryion Anderson and Jalen Huff.

Law enforcement sources tell TMZ the three suspects were arrested in Miami in connection with the burglary of Mariah's home and several other home invasions in the Atlanta area.

The suspects were part of a larger burglary ring of thieves who targeted the homes of celebrities and pro athletes when they were out of town.

Mariah Carey is happy for her ex-husband Nick Cannon after the news broke that he is expecting his 8th child.

Nick and his 5th baby mama, Bre Tiesi, held a gender reveal party with blue and pink balloons in Malibu, California last weekend. The couple is expecting a boy.

A source said Mariah is "supportive" of her ex-husband who left their marriage on good terms with an agreement to co-parent their twins, Moroccan and Monroe.

FayesVision/WENN.com

"Mariah and Nick are really great co-parents and have a good relationship [and] friendship now so any time Nick has exciting news to share, she's just happy for him," a source told Us Weekly exclusively.

The source said Mariah, 52, is happy about Nick and Bre Tiesi's baby news. "They're in a good place and they're supportive of each other no matter what."

Mariah Carey is "still mad" at Nick Cannon for the birthday gifts he bought their twins, Moroccan and Monroe.

Nick and Mariah, who divorced in 2016, had agreed not to buy Moroccan and Monroe cell phones when they first asked for the risky devices at age 8.

However, the media mogul went back on their "deal" to give the twins cell phones when they were older.

NGRE / BACKGRID

"The Masked Singer" host asked Mariah if he could give the twins cell phones at age 10. But Mariah said no.

So Nick decided to give Roc and Roe the phones anyway when they turned 10 in April.

Speaking in a preview clip from his eponymous talk show, Nick - who has seven kids with four women - said:

"My oldest twins Roc and Roe wanted a cell phone at eight.

"I was all for it but Mariah was like, 'Uh-huh they aren't going to be Googling us, learning about all their new brothers and sisters, no we aren't playing.'

"I respected it at eight, but then we made a deal and said at 10 then they can have it, (but) Mariah still said no.

"So at 10, I snuck and I still got them the cell phones for their birthday."

The star said he left the gift amongst other presents at the twins' "amazing" birthday party, knowing his ex-wife wouldn't be happy.

He laughingly continued:

"We had this amazing party with jump jumps, their friends came, it was so amazing. Then (when) it was time to open the gifts, I was like 'I'm going to leave these right here and tell your mama I'll be back.'

"Mariah is still mad at me till this day."

Mariah Carey departed Jay Z's Roc Nation management because she was looking to downsize to a smaller boutique management firm, TMZ reports.

According to earlier reports, Mariah left Roc Nation after an "explosive" argument with Jay Z during a meeting about her future with the company.

Jemal Countess/WireImage

However, Mariah took to Instagram on Monday to deny reports that she had an explosive argument with her former boss.

Sources close to the situation tell TMZ that Mariah prefers to work with a smaller team that can devote more time to her. Unfortunately, Jay's powerhouse agency has too many cooks in the kitchen.

At Roc Nation, artists like Mariah could have 20 or more people working on marketing, social media, music, merchandise, etc. -- which created an impersonal environment and she simply wanted a more intimate team.

Jeff Kravitz/FilmMagic

TMZ's sources say Mariah and Jay Z actually decided a couple months ago to part ways amicably after working together since 2017.

Mariah reportedly signed with Range Media Partners, which also signed her manager Melissa Ruderman. Ruderman left Roc in early 2021 to become a partner in the music division at Range, and she will be working closely with Mariah.

The report prompted speculation that Ruderman lured Mariah away from Roc Nation to join her at Range.

Some of Range's other clients include big name actors Bradley Cooper, Jonny Depp, Michael Fassbender, Tom Hardy and Keira Knightley.

Mariah will be Range's first bold name music artist.

Mariah Carey says rumors of an "explosive argument" with Jay Z is not why she allegedly left Roc Nation.

Mariah signed a management deal with Roc Nation after dumping her longtime manager last year. But she is reportedly not pleased with the direction that Jay Z has taken her career.

The mom-of-two took to Instagram on Monday morning to deny reports that she had an "explosive" argument with the father of 5.

KMazur/WireImage

"The only "explosive" situation I'd ever "get into" with Hov is a creative tangent, such as our #1 song "Heartbreaker"!! To the people who make up these lies I say "Poof! —Vamoose, sonofa*****"!"

According to The Sun, Mariah abruptly departed Roc Nation after a "heated discussion" with the rap mogul about her future with the company.

An insider said that Carey and Jay-Z's meeting was "explosive" and she stormed out of the meeting. Carey signed with Roc Nation in 2017.

The insider said Mariah "wants nothing more to do with him and has called it quits with Roc Nation."

"She will formally depart in the next few weeks. It is a shame because they had done some great work in the last few years. But this meeting couldn’t have gone much worse."

They say there's a kernel of truth in every rumor.

Mariah Carey is still upset after being called "ni**erish" by comedian Sandra Bernhard during a 1998 comedy routine.

The pop singer told Naomi Campbell about the controversial moment from Sandra's standup comedy special I'm Still Here... Damn It!, when the comedienne accused Mariah of exploiting her biracial ethnicity to further her career.

"She's trying to backtrack on our asses by acting real ni**erish there at the Royalton Hotel suite with Puff Daddy and all the greasy, chain-wearing Black men," Bernhard said during her TV special.

Mariah told Naomi: "I wish I would have called you back when it happened because I was so upset and nobody came to my rescue at that point. But whatever, I can't – it's ignorance."

Naomi called Bernhard's insult "rude and disrespectful" as well as being "completely racist".

"People can be very hurtful," Naomi said, "but one of the things that hurt me, because I care about you and I care about the past, was what Sandra said. I was just like, 'Are you for real?' How did that even slide by?" she continued.

Gesturing at Mariah, who is biracial, Naomi added: "You are Black. You have every right. You are working also, in a professional capacity. I just felt like, now, I wanted to clear that up because I was p**sed."

Mariah is the daughter of former opera singer Patricia, of Irish descent, and Alfred, an aeronautical engineer of Black and Afro-Venezuelan descent.

Mariah Carey didn't have sex with her billionaire fiancé James Packer, according to her new book.

The "Touch My Body" singer and James got engaged in January 2016 after a whirlwind romance - but they called off their wedding that October without explanation.

Mariah never mentioned her relationship with the Australian media mogul in her new memoir, and the star says that's because their engagement has no significance to her, as they never had a "physical relationship".

Jen Lowery / Splash News

"If it was a relationship that mattered, it's in the book. If not, it didn't occur," she tells The Guardian. "We didn't have a physical relationship, to be honest with you."

This may explain why James packed up his things and left Mariah standing at the altar. A man can only hold his horses for so long.

The 50-year-old Aries previously claimed she only slept with five people in her life. She was married twice - to Tommy Mottola and Nick Cannon - and shares 2 kids with Nick. She is currently in a relationship with her back-up dancer and choreographer Bryan Tanaka, 37.

Asked if she agrees with claims that she's "high-maintenance," Mariah snapped, "You know what? I don't give a s**t. I f**king am high-maintenance because I deserve to be at this point. That may sound arrogant, but I hope you frame it within the context of coming from nothing."

She added: "If I can't be high-maintenance after working my a** off my entire life, oh, I'm sorry – I didn't realize we all had to be low-maintenance. Hell, no! I was always high-maintenance, it's just I didn't have anyone to do the maintenance when I was growing up!"

Mariah's memoir, The Meaning of Mariah Carey, is in stores now.

A fling with baseball great Derek Jeter served as the "catalyst" for Mariah Carey's divorce from her ex-husband Tommy Mottola.

The superstar and the music mogul separated in 1998 after Carey was caught creeping with the promiscuous NY Yankees superstar. Carey confesses her romance with the sportsman made her realize she wanted out of her loveless marriage.

Carey, best known for her 5-octave vocal range, was married to Mottola from June 1993 until March 1998. Mottola was 12 years her senior.

Promoting her upcoming memoir, The Meaning of Mariah Carey, on The Oprah Conversation, the singer said, "[Jeter] was a catalyst that helped me get out of that relationship because I believed that there was somebody else [for me]."

Carey, pictured with then-husband Mottola in 1996, stopped short of calling Jeter the love of her life: "I didn't think I would ever meet anybody who wouldn't... feel superior to me... But he was a catalyst. And I think that it was beautiful."

Mariah, 50, recently revealed her romance with the former New York Yankees star inspired two of her songs - "The Roof" and "My All."

She and ex-husband Nick Cannon share twins - son Moroccan and daughter Monroe. They separated in 2014.

Following the announcement, a host of famous faces took to social media to pay tribute to the late star, with Frozen actor Josh Gad among the first.

"I'm in absolute shock. What a beautiful and amazing actress and person. So sad to hear of her passing at such a young age," he wrote. "My heart goes out to John Travolta and the entire family. What a loss.”

"Sending so much love to you and your family in this heartbreaking moment," Mariah wrote, while Dae Kim, a former co-star of Kelly's, added in his own tribute: "I was lucky enough to work with her on one of my very first films, For Love of the Game. We were shooting on cold days in Colorado, but she couldn’t have been warmer or kinder to a young, nervous actor trying to make good. I'll never forget that. Thank you Kelly."

Back to the Future star Lea Thompson was another of Kelly's former castmates to remember the actress, sharing pictures from the set of their 1986 movie Space Camp and writing: "I am so very sad to hear of my old friend @therealkellypreston passing. We had so much fun making #spacecamp all those many years ago. She was always full of love and light and Hawaiian breeziness.

"Kelly was so beautiful inside and out. Went way too young. #heartbroken for her whole family #breastcancerawareness is so important. Hold each other close and let's keep fighting for a cure."

Kanye West has backed out of pastor Joel Osteen's virtual Easter concert over safety concerns for his Sunday Service choir.

The 42-year-old rapper had been slated to join actor/director Tyler Perry and singer Mariah Carey for Osteen's remote holiday Easter worship service, which will be livestreamed from his Lakewood megachurch in Houston, Texas on Easter Sunday, April 12.

The original plan called for the choir to wear face masks and maintain social distancing while recording songs with Kanye for the gig, but the "Jesus Walks" rapper decided that he could not satisfy his artistic expectations and safety concerns with these arrangements, so he called off the appearance, TMZ reports.

TMZ adds discussions were ongoing up until Good Friday, but the "Jesus is King" star ultimately couldn't make his plan work to his satisfaction.

The Easter Sunday service will be broadcast live over Osteen's megachurch feed at Joelosteen.com at both 9.30am EST and 12pm EST.

Eminem responded to Nick Cannon's diss track that implies a sex tape exists that shows him in a compromising position with another man.

On Monday, Nick dropped his diss track, titled "The Invitation". The track was in response to Eminem calling out Nick's ex-wife, pop star Mariah Carey, in a verse on Fat Joe's new track "Lord Above".

Eminem also called the entertainment mogul "whipped" and "neutered" among other insults.

"I know me and Mariah didn't end on a high note/But that other dude's whipped, that pussy got him neutered/Tried to tell him this chick's a nut job before he got his jewels clipped/Almost got my caboose kicked, fool, quit, you not gon' do shit/I let her chop my balls off too, 'fore I lost to you, Nick."

On T.I.'s podcast ExpediTIously, Nick said he responded to Eminem's insults to prove to his ex-wife that he's a man. The 39-year-old Libra said he went to Detroit looking for the Slim Shady rap star.

"I called managers," Nick said. "I gotta show my wife I'm a man. I said, 'I know I'm not gonna be able to out rap you but I will whoop your ass.' Those were the exact words at the time. Cooler heads prevailed."

"The Invitation" features an intro from imprisoned Death Row Records founder Suge Knight calling out Eminem before Nick raps:

"I heard your chauffeur got a video of you suckin' a c**k
You paid him off, then laid him off, now who really the opp?
Suge called me the new 'Pac, I ain't no killer but don't push me
How the f**k y'all got me battlin' Elvis Pussly?"

In response to a tweet by HotNewHipHop.com, Nick said Eminem unleashed his lawyers.

"FACTS! His lawyers didn't want that one out! They already on my line," Nick tweeted.

Eminem waited until Monday night to respond to Nick's diss. The 47-year-old Libra demanded an apology from Nick.

Eminem tweeted: "U mad bro? Stop lying on my d**k. I never even had a chauffeur, you bougie f**k."

He later added: "I demand an apology Nicholas, you've made my gardener so jealous!"
