Materialistic Celebrities

Loyal reader Tasheena emailed her thoughts on my post about materialistic celebrities.

Tasheena writes:

I agree with you 100% about these celebrities flaunting their wealth and not giving back to their people. I refuse to buy an album of someone who constantly brags on their record about how many chicks, cars, jewels, and how much money they have. I am not gonna use my hard earned money that I had to work my lil 9-5 for to buy ya CD only to hear you brag about how much money you have when I am barely making it in this economy. Shame on her and the others who brag about their wealth to their fans and their are even some who can't even stop to sign an autograph for the same people who support their brand.

    Lately, celebrities have begun leaving messages for me in my Direct Message inbox on Twitter.com. Normally I don't share my DMs with the public, but in this case I will because singer Keri Hilson thinks she's slick.

    Yesterday morning Keri tweeted this on her Twitter timeline: "It's nice when your hard work affords you the luxury of doing whatever you want, whenever you want. That's the goal, right?"

    I responded by tweeting: "Wrong. The goal is to enrich the lives of others, not your own."
