Did Janet swagger jack Ciara’s style?

We all know the entertainment biz lacks creativity and originality. Celebrities jack each other’s style like there’s no tomorrow. And producers jack other producers’ beats which have already been recycled endlessly.

So it comes as no surprise that Ciara‘s fans have taken to the Internets to protest Janet Jackson for jacking Ciara’s style in her new video.

People are still talking about Janet’s banishment from MTV and how that will affect her record sales when her album drops this Spring. Janet’s last album came in a distant second to Ludacris‘s CD. Many believe her next CD will suffer the same fate. MTV refuses to acknowledge any of Janet’s projects. And let’s face it: without TRL exposure, celebs don’t fare well on the charts.

MTV’s TRL is a major stop on any celeb’s pre-album release promo tour. But as far as MTV is concerned, Janet doesn’t exist.

I’m sorry, but Janet didn’t swagger jack Ciara. Remember, all of these young talented ladies have grown up watching Janet just as I have. Janet has had this current video style in the past in some form. Look at the video with Busta Rhymes. I agree that celebrities and non-celebs alike swagger jack all the time. However, this isn’t one of those times.

Ciara fans are stupid!!! I remember Janet’s dancers wearing black catsuits on her RN tour. Britney wore a black catsuit while on one of her tours (I don’t like Britney anyway). What Ciara was wearing seems a little Rhythm Nation-esque anyway. Fergie is rocking the same thing in Clumsy!!!! No one invented catsuits, sorry.

sorry, janet may not be able to sing, but ciara owes much of what she does to her. janet reinvented the music video in terms of choreography.

Uhmmm…i’m lost. why is MTV dissin’ Janet? what happened? anyway i HATE when ppl assume or get mad at other celebs just cuz they may wear the same dress or hair style as another. i think if u like what u like then wear it. isn’t is possible for ppl to like the same things? and if it works for them then let them do it without being being accused of stealing style. this is a big world and bound to happen. i’m sure ciara’s stylist is not the only one in the planet who had some of those wardrobe ideas okay. if i like that green dress and long waves that miss celebrity such n such rocked 3 weeks ago then i like it! dang! why do fans cause undue drama for no reason. ciar probably doesn’t care. not to mention ciara is not on the same plane as janet so it won’t matter…they are very far apart in age. this seems so immature…and boring to even care about. dumb.

As long as there are gay men in the world Janet will have a following. I think Ciara is the one who is jacking styles, as she’s much younger than Janet. For a miinute she was being compared to Aaliyah whilst being groomed my Mister (Missy Elliot) – But hey, neither one of them can sing, IMO. I guess all they have to look forward to is dancing.

Anyone suggesting that Janet jacked Ciara would have to be a very young person unfamiliar with Janet’s early music. EVERYONE is jacking her. She is the pioneer.

As for this MTV thing, it pisses me off to no end. It is blantantly racist and I don’t know why “we” have not tried to do anything about it. Justin Timberlake was involved in the performance and he gets MTV play all day, but Janet gets banned for life. If that isn’t racist what is? Thanks for Janet, MTV doesn’t rule the music world anymore and barely shows videos anymore anyway. Blogs are keeping her in the forefront right now.

Damn near all of ciara fans were born in 1991 & later… They have no clue about the rhythm nation or control era. Thats when Janet changed the video game. My little cousin told me that nelly & jay-z were better than run dmc & krs 1…. These young’uns dont know jack about real music & the history of it. Ciara fans are primarily YOUNGINS. What they fail to realize is that if there no Janet, there never would’ve been Ciara. Screw them. Ridiculous. They say imitation is a great form of flattery….Ciara, congrats, ‘coz she’s been imitating Ms. Jackson since day one NOT vice versa.

i agree with what bird said about the mtv situation. tow people were involved in that nipplegate situation and only one person is getting punished for it . hopefully even without mtv janet’s album will do better than the last two. the internet has been giving her good buzz so maybe that will help .

Congratulations to MTV for showing us exactly why you’re viewing figures are slipping. No sense of loyalty or has Virgin pulled strings to make sure Janet doesn’t do another Mariah.

Like everyone said Janet is an originator, from Britney, Beyonce to Ciara they got it from Janet, a lot of them copy Madonna as well, they are legends. MTV was the one that hyped the superbowl, they knew what was going to happen and when it didn’t go their way they dissed Janet hard! But not Justin. I hope Janet comes back hard and make it rain on all the haters! Please add to the equation that Janet’s former choreographer (Tina Landon) has been working with Ciara for a minute. So,the Janet/Ciara comparisons can be validated. Plus we know that Tina has some lingering issues with Janet. (just my opinion)

It has nothing to do with requesting. It is a well known fact that Janet is blacklisted by the FCC/mtv radio since the Superbowl, no matter how much requesting you do.

It seems recently the ban has been lifted though, I see a lot of Janet on MTV and mtv.com too.
