Why should we give ‘Gravy’ a chance?
Quick! What’s the name of the actor playing The Notorious BIG in the new movie Notorious? Don’t worry, I couldn’t guess his name either. According to Wooohah!, the producers of Notorious are reeling from the criticism heaped on them for their choice to play the legendary rapper.
Biggie’s former manager Wayne Barrow - who is also one of the film’s producers - dismissed fan favorite Guerilla Black, saying he chose Jamal “Gravy” Woolard to play the part because he was unknown.
“Sometimes you have an individual who comes into a room and creates a presence,” Barrow said. “You can make a star into a superstar but you can’t make a star. Gravy has that. He has that in him.”
Where? I don’t see it? The dude looks like a down low butterball turkey covered in, well, gravy. Lol, maybe it’s just me, but how can a movie producer NOT listen to the people he is trying to get into the theaters? If Barrow can’t see that this film is a flop in the making, maybe he needs to give up producing movies and go into another field. He would make a great car salesman.

I don’t think it will be a flop. Although I was never a Biggie fan, I know tons of people who are and off that alone will be going to see this movie. Now, it might get horrible reviews post-viewing, but the topic alone will be enough to garner some pretty big profits…
I will give it a chance, looks can be deceiving.

This will be a highly bootlegged movie like Soul Plane. I’m not interested in it, but I’m sure my boyfriend will force me to see it. It may not be that bad, but its not on my list of must - see movies. The only thing I’m confused with is the producer’s quote:

I think Gravy deserves a chance. Guerilla Black may have the look but he may not have the skill. Many times producers have a “vision” that lay people (the fans) don’t have. I mean, do you think fans of Iron Man would have ever casted Robert Downey Jr. to play the part? I doubt it.
Y’all bootlegging is the reason we can’t do our films but then folks know that and Sandra don’t know why you are hatin’ so hard on a young man trying to do his thing you have not seen his work in the film, chill for a minute, you are like a bully about this topic, really is there something you know abut him? Did he offend you in some way? Dang…
Biggie still has a wide enough audience that the film will do okay. People back in that era want to see it. Even if it went straight to DVD…it would be sold out…i promise u.

I’m not bootlegging this movie. I discourage everyone I know from watching “high quality” bootlegs. I always stress that we can never be taken seriously or as successful as Brad Pitt & Sarah Jessica Parker, because we’re always looking for the cheap route. If you are really interested in this movie, pay the 10 bucks (6 at a matinee) & sit thru it.
I said I didnt want to see it, which means that my boyfriend will be treating me. I, for one, am not interested in seeing another black man getting shot or dealing drugs in a movie (whether its based on a true story or not) I’m more interested in seeing our men being fathers & real men.

Its a whole lot websites dedicated to bootleg movies, and I watch it whenever Im in the mood! The movies that have been coming out lately SUCK/WACK and all of the above. I dont pay for bootlegs movies, and Im not going to pay to see this Biggie movie and Im not a fan of Biggs but I like some of his music!
On a side-note: The Chronicles Of Narnia: Prince Caspian comes out today I will go to my local theater to watch this movie the first one was GOOD!!!!
I am still a little skeptical about the whole cast but hey they are the producers so its there money!! I will admit that I would like to see how they will depict his life & the situation with Kim, Faith, & Charlie that will be interesting on film (lol) & I also want to see how Derek Luke will play Diddy’s role that will be classic(lol)!!!

Remember on the Mo’ Money Mo’ Problem video when he was that seems like (inhale/exhale) the more money (inhale/exhale) we me make, (inhale/exhale) the more problems (inhale/exhale)

Give brotha man a chance, he may amaze us all. Just becasue Gureilla (sp) black HELL OF looked like him, doesnt mean he was an actor.

Producers look for “unknown” talent because they don’t have to PAY them ALOT-of-Money and their “Perk-free”. This film is just a Quick-Money-Grab for the producers that are involved and I’m a Biggie Fan!!!
And NO I will not be going to see this CRAP

i’m sorry $10 is alot these days..the way the economy is going and these d*mn gas prices…so if i can see it on bootleg..than that’s what i’m going to do!!
I think Gravy looks more like Geurilla Black than anything however Shine had Biggies voice down pack!! the only thing Gravy has going for him is that he is from NY & he’s big other than that?? wasn’t he the one that got shot in front of a studio or something?? I think Angela Bassett will do good in this movie she is the only A lister out of the whole cast & I don’t even think they consider her an A lister(lol)!!!

Sound’s like HATE to me. What does what he look like have to do with it ? Let’s be REAL the fan’s DID NOT WANT TO SEE Guerilla Black play B.I.G. We didn’t even want to hear him try to sound like B.I.G., when he had a song & video out. The film producer is smart. Guerilla Black is TRASH just like Sandra Rose.
Pac was my babydaddy..Biggie was cool but i’m not even TRYING to see this..I’m just mad they got my favorite actress playing his mama..I mean damn Angela first Meet the Browns now this?
First, Biggup to Bed Stuy!!! I am not really sure about this movie yet.To be honest what is the point of the movie. They could of did a documentary just like 2Pac(RIP) and call it a day. I guess Diddy is still trying to live in those glory days!! Love me some Biggie but the jury is still out on this movie!!
I can’t wait to see this movie..
