Dondria Nicole aka Phatfffat - The Big Push is on
The big marketing push is on to make an Internet singer a worldwide Phenom.
Island/Def Jam Records has fired up the marketing machine and put 21-year-old Dondria Nicole aka Phatfffat, on the front burner.
According to a press release from the tireless Amina Elshahawi over at ThinkTank Marketing, Dondria’s YouTube fanbase is north of 27,000 subscribers, with more than 1.3 million channel views under her belt.
No doubt Island Urban president Jermaine Dupri is a proven Star maker, but can he work his magic with Dondria? “I have never witnessed an Internet-driven phenomenon that even comes close to this in my entire career,” said Mr. Dupri, who discovered Dondria online. “We are on the threshold of exposing a naturally gifted singer to the world as a result of YouTube’s penetration into every corner of society – and that is a genuinely exciting prospect for the future.”
That’s all well and good but, personally, Dondria’s music does nothing for me. She can sing but, again, she’s no Monica whose dramatic melodies and sultry restraint stirs emotions in her fans.
It’s one thing to belt out covers of other people’s music while you sit in front of a computer, but does Dondria’s talent translate to success on a stage grander than the acoustics of her small bedroom?

That’s all well and good but, personally, Dondria’s music does nothing for me. She can sing but, again, she’s no Monica whose dramatic melodies and sultry restraint stirs emotions in her fans.

I think she can sing…and I think with the right styling she’d be hot. She’s clearly young and hasn’t figured out her style yet. However, she REALLY REALLY needs to change her name. Even her real name Dondria Nicole is nicer than Phatffat. That name has no crossover appeal and white people would not even give her music a second glance much less without snickering about it when they hear it. That’s my opinion.

AND i’m not impressed with the music either. I mean, she sounds alright but I’ve heard better from the alto section in my church choir that I sing in every sunday.

I don’t know her and never met her but after listening to the mess that is Ashanti this week, i’m willing to give somebody else a try.
She can actually sing…she has a following…she has had some styling (new hair,etc)
Why Sandra references Monica who hasn’t had a hit in forever and is spending up Rocko’s sigining bonus (apparent by her step up in style) is beyond me. They need to be saving, with his flop and her absence from the game!
