Jay Z responds to Glastonbury criticism
When Jay z performs at the Glastonbury festival in England this weekend, he will have a lot more on his mind than The Today Show mistaking him for Joe Budden. Jay’s appearance in the Glastonbury festival lineup has drawn heavy criticism from locals and artists alike.
According to festival organizers, this year’s festival has not sold out for the first time in its history. Noel Gallagher — guitarist and chief songwriter for Oasis - thinks the reason is clear: Jay Z.
“If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it,” Gallagher complained back in April. “If you start to break it, then people aren’t going to go. I’m sorry, but Jay-Z? No chance.”
Jay Z responded in an interview with U.K. radio host Tim Westwood on Wednesday, saying, “At the end of the day, these barriers that they have are only put up to separate us. There is only good music and bad music.”
“The world should be all about mixing culture,” Jay-Z said. “Hip-hop is music in its art form. It should be accepted and respected. It’s all the same thing, it’s just coming from a different perspective.”
But critics insist rap fans would not approve of rock bands appearing at Hip Hop festivals.

I read an article that most of those people that attend the Glastonbury Festival are NOT into Hip-Hop at all they mostly listen to underground rock,grunge rock etc.,
So basically the Camel isnt selling out sold out arena’’s. I guess Father Time is UP!

I’m sure of that. These kids may wanna party like rockstars, but I’m sure they dont even know what that means. Jay-Z is stickin out like a sore thumb at this event
true true.. I sure don’t want to go to a rap concert and rock bands start performing between sets.. no way.
I guess he thought making friends with Coldplay would give him a pass.

He could do his Encore remix with Linkin Park, his song with Coldplay, 99 problems with some bad azz white rock guitar player. I’m sure J will change their minds
The man is right — If the lineup has traditionally been rock bands, throwing a rap act in there is like mixing oil and water — it just doesn’t go together.
Jay-z should just pull out and respect the fans and the tradition of the festival.
Well, as sepratist as it may sound….I think the guy in the article has a point. If Thrice, System of A Down, or Weezer played Hot’s Birthday bash, negroes would be like, “Snack Break!!” and all roll out of the arena.
Now, overseas audiences may be somewhat different - but if that festival has always been a rock festival, it needs to stay that way. I have no problem with that.
I don’t understand cause he had to have been invited or asked to perform Im sure he didn’t just place himself in the lineup?? so if that being the case whats the problem?? If they asked him to perform in the festival why are they acting funny about it now? cause he is a rap artist? whatever, Jay will shut that ish down & they know it if you have rap artist that can go to all these foriegn countries & perform then what makes England so different?

I don’t think that’s true…..Lollapalooza has all types of music bands featured, including hip hop (Kanye, Lupe Fiasco, and another act–I forget–) are performing this year. They usually have big crowds…I don’t know if you can sell out a park though…Lollapalooza is held in Grant Park.
