TBS orders up new series “Tyler Perry’s Meet the Brown’s”
According to Rodney Ho of the AJC, TBS has placed an order for episodes of Tyler Perry’s new TV series “Meet The Brown’s”.
TBS was apparently impressed by the success of the 100 episode run of “House of Pain” - which got off to a rocky start because it simply wasn’t funny.
For that reason, TBS has ordered only 10 episodes of “Brown” with an option to kill the rest of the contract if the show doesn’t garner good ratings out the gate. As with “House” Perry introduces unfamiliar faces in the new sitcom.

“Meet the Browns” stars David Mann as Leroy Brown, a character who earlier this year was featured in Perry’s hit film of the same name. He has also appeared in several episodes of “House of Payne” on TBS. Perry’s new series begins after Brown inherits a dilapidated house from his deceased father.
Angela Bassett, who was in the original film, won’t be joining the new crew. (Source)

I pray this one is funny. I couldn’t get into the House of Pain for nothing. Either way, Perry is still filthy, stanking, just right dirty, rich.
I hope this one is better than House of Pain because that sh!t was wack as all hell!
i just saw the movie :meet the browns, and it wasnt as funny or good as the other mopvies i have seen.
Wow .. I thought I was the only one who found the House of Payne Un-Funny … I tried watching it .. and just didn’t even chuckle .. I can’t STAND that lil girl’s character and yall KNOW if a crackhead burned down your house .. spouse or not .. that relationship would have gone up in flames as well. . . .
I loved the movie Meet the Brown’s .. all tho Angela Basset was TOO good an actress for the roll .. the suppporting actors didn’t have what he took to make her character seem realistic … IMO .. *shrugs*
I hope this is good too, although I make a point to catch House of Pain, which wasnt too funny in the beginning but has gradually gotten better. But with Mr Brown… its bound to be funny as heck
I’m glad that I’m not the only one too that didn’t find that show funny. I really did give it a try but it was torture watching it. I don’t think I ever saw a complete episode.
I’m cracking up already! Brown is a fool! House of Payne did get better as it progressed. I dont really watch it very often but it’s cool
FTR: I DO NOT WATCH House of Payne, either. However, Sandra no matter what you say, it is still the highest rated cable series on TV after The Closer and just got picked up in syndication. Do your research.
I’m sorry, that movie sucked…and so is House of Pain. They are pretty bad.
I’m not expecting much. That movie was supposed to be funny, but it wasn’t. Tyler has been given too much too fast. The writing and directing on his movies and House of Payne is horrible. He needs to hire some real professionals instead of trying to pocket all the money by doing everything himself. Black people need to stop settling for his garbage and then Hollywood will stop giving him money to feed us sub-par work.
I am going to give it a try. I watched House of Payne and then stopped because I could not believe that it was not funny. Started watching again when they added Pookie, Peanut and the barbershop people. It is much better.

No iyonah you are not the only one. TBS is known for its crap original shows. Anyone remember the Catlins, as well as the cop show that’s suppose to be like Reno 911?
now house of payne progressed a whole hell of a lot from the first 20 episodes or so until the later ones the writing camera work everything got muchhhhhhhhhhhh better still not one of my favorite shows but the show got much better as it progressed. now meet the browns movie was wack to me so i dont know about a television show with it
that show is horrible. tbs must getting off dirt cheap with the cost of the production, cuz i dont get it. the browns looks bafoonish. time out for this nonsense black people.
I love Tyler Perry most of his films have a profound message and even though they make you laugh there is also usually a deeper message. However I went to see Meet The Browns the opening weekend and I didn’t find it funny at all. It was rather whack and so is House of Payne. I wish him the best though and I hope this show is much better than the movie!!
House of Payne isn’t funny to me at all, but I do give Tyler props for having the highest rated original cable series in history. I am looking forward to seeing “The Family That Preys” though!! Looks good!! Except for Tyler wearing that retarded looking wig slash Chia Pet on his head….sighhhh. Is it a running joke that every movie he does has to have some man with an f-ed up hairdo/hairpeice/wig?! Do you think it’s on purpose?? LOL!!
Congrats to TP, but I dont know if I can stomach anymore dry humor and unfunny foolishness. I’ve never understood why House of Payne was so dry. I do like the storyline between CJ and Janine, but the others are so no.
I’m w/ Iyonah. Tyler Perry is WAY overrated. Everything he has ever done has been predictable. The only movie he had that I found remotely entertaining was “Why did I get married?” I will NOT be tuning in to his new train wreck..oops I mean show
