Video: Dad Beats Suspected Child Molestor With Hammer on Subway Train

The motive isn’t made clear during the video, but a loyal reader who emailed this to me said the victim of the attack made inappropriate advances to the little boy on the train. The boy’s father then beat the man with a hammer and dragged him off the train.

The victim, a 20-year-old college student, reported the incident to police after he got home.

I don’t think the boy made sexual advances…then again I don’t know…but the man did way to much now his azz going to jail for attempted murder cause you know thats what they charged him with………without any justification as to why he did this….if he made sexual advances at the boy where is that part of the tape…like come on…they said the victim and suspect didn’t know eachother so the advances had to happen on the train…where is that part of the tape

The reports in philly are not saying that the victim is a suspected molestor. The police in philly are making this out to be a random act of violence.

you would think he would be setting next to the boy.
he sitting to far away and no parent would let there boy set next to a strange man way across the isle.

the problem is that you would think its the guy sitting next to him, the big burly guy who even with a hammer might kick the dads ass.

instead he jumps on this kids who looks kinda soft. sitting on the other side of the exist door listening to his ipod. i would need to see the video where he advances the little boy because he he certainly isnt near him to make advancements.

wow! i can’t believe he beat that young guy w/ a hammer…i wonder if someone broke it up on the platform…i was shocked to see the young guy re-enter the train for his ipod…

I’m sorry but something is wrong here! I thought the man talking to the boy, all in his face, and appearing to even kiss him on the cheek was the suspected molester, then my first thought was but where is his father and how is this man all in his face,,,,but no that is his father! So where is the clip of the unwanted advances he was making? This ish don’t look right. Looks like that man beat this young man just for the bleep of it. I hope that’s not the case, and I hope the hammer is a part of the tools he uses at work, otherwise…Wow. I’m going to try to follow this case. Unless more surveillance is produced that shows the college student making advances then I hope this guy gets the book thrown at him. Hell I can’t even imagine the college student would have reported it if he knew he was in the wrong. But I don’t know.

Your source must have inside information because the attacker has not been caught yet so the motive is not known. When did the sexual advance take place? The video captured the whole train ride and the attacker and the victim never say two words to each other. Anyway, according to philly.com an arrest could be as soon as tonight and maybe then we will get the whole story.

Since there is no clear reason, my assumption is that the victim is gay and maybe the attacker could tell. Attacker thinks that all gay men are child molesters and THINKS the victim is making eyes at the boy and goes off.

I’m from Philly so hopefully I can shed some light on the story because your caption is completely wrong Sandra. The young guy was not suspected of doing anything to the child. Clearly he was sleeping on the train minding his business when the attacker started his ambush. It was a completely random act of violence. The suspect was just captured last night after his family saw the story on the news and turned him in. Turns out, that after the incident, the suspect went to a relatives house and tried to hurt himself with the same hammer. They immediately committed him to a mental hospital. Supposedly he’s been in desperate need of help for a while now. They are testing the hammer for DNA evidence first before they proceed. I just want everyone to know that the young man did nothing wrong. He’s not a pervert. He did not “need a beat down.” He was just a guy coming home from work at the wrong time… It has all SEPTA riders in Philly shook up because it could have been any one of us…

I live in Philly and what really happened is that this guy is mentally challenged and he just started hitting the guy sitting down for no apparent reason. He was arrested last night turned in by his family when they recognized his face on the video. The victim is doing okay but had to get his head stapled in two places. The victim was coming home from work and was actually sleeping when the attack began.
