Beyonce, just one of the folks?
According to gossip columnist Roger Friedman of FOX 411, Beyonce’s label is attempting to “strip away her glamour and glitz” to prove that she is just like you.
In the stark black & white photo posted on the Z100 website, Beyonce stares blankly, her bare face showing no emotion. Her usual over-the-top image muted. Her lacefront wig dull and lifeless.
Another part of the marketing ploy was for her label to release two singles simultaneously yesterday.
Friedman theorizes that Bey’s label purposefully held back the release of her two singles so that Bey would miss the “Grammy deadline by eight days” in a move that would favor Alicia Keys who is in the same label conglomerate as Bey.
The label feels the public is growing wary of Beyonce and it’s time for Alicia Keys, Leona Lewis and Jennifer Hudson to shine.
I almost feel sorry for her. But she’s going to be alright. She needs to take a few years off to have her babies and work with a voice coach, then come back on the scene after we’ve had a chance to miss her.

Some woman don’t need make-up. If she needed it this would not even be considered. Not sure I believe the push back of the 2 singles because A. Keys is on the same record label. They don’t have the same style therefore would not cancel each other out.
That’s good she is stepping down for a while.
But the just like us, is not working.
We starve, and live in dangerous places!
Her reality isn’t ours. She should just be her, cause we don’t even know the true her. She never shows much personality being her damn self!
Trust and believe, she’s got PLENTY of make-up on! That’s not a fresh washed face!
Bey and Alicia are on different labels.Can’t deny Bey’s talent though, but those songs are not that great.People will swallow anything.I love Bey though, I had to take a listen back to her in the older days when she first came out with DC.
Sharonda, actually they are on the same label, because their lables merged or one bought out the other. How ever you want to say it! Remember when record companies started to do this in an effort to stay afloat after everyone decided to just start downloading.
The only singer that could pull off the “just like us” was Keyshia Cole. But Bey, NO. Emotionally, everyone can relate to each other, but life-style wise she can’t.

I think bey needs to revamp and come back with a new do, and new attitude and substance, she is so predictable it’s pathetic, I knew this would happen, she heard the public and now they want to go they way they should have in the beginning, she was to fake and scripted. their are stars that have longevity and still come back with the fire , mariah, mary, and i do think keyshia cole is going to be added to the list, the songs that were released by beyonce are not doing it. she needs to go to the drawing board againg. but her days of being the hot girl and far gone.
Bey is one of my fav.. But that whole deny my wedding I want my privacy until my album drops ploy seems to be back firing in her face.
For an artist to be as established as she is it seems she has to try and get her name out there like she just came out.
Make up or not I will never feel she is just like me bc she lives a lifestyle that I will never know. & by her being so closed off and only wanting us to know her music that’s all I can compare.
On the other hand. MJB is rich but I can identify with her bc she lets her fans in. She gives you enough but not too much.

you know someone made a comment on another blog, about her essence interview and all that privacy stuff she was talking about really seemed like they were jay’s word. I mean she compared herself to prince and michael jackson. I think more of that was jay just like he made that statement about larry johnson when he starred in that fantasia video. I know no female would really enjoy the secret life.
I agree with you 100% Ms Sandra Rose.. The Beyonce saturation was quite tiresome. I know she wants to be an “icon” and all… But she has mostly just been on my nerves. Especially since there are so many other genuinelt TALENTED artists out there. Bey puts on a great show, but to me, she isn’t much without the “BIG” show.
It is TOO LATE for Beyonce to introduce herself.
She only wanted sales, and that’s we gave her. Now that she slowing down she wants us to know her. That’s not cool……..

I think that’s what bey don’t get, like mjb, yes she’s rich but she lets us in where we can relate to her and her feelings and her states of mind. we all women and human, when i’m listening to keyshia i can feel her, and i don’t be thinking oh she rich i be like i feel you or it hits a nerve or something, beyonce lacks that. and i know i have said that for years that’s why i couln’t dig her like that. and i know some of the younger people don’t understand that, but music is the soul and those artist back then gave you something you can feel. music is suppose to be a healer for the soul.

I read about her pushing back her singles until after the grammy deadline, also. I agree with all of you who feel like she does a BIG show, but little else. I think people hyped her up so much and in the end her music doesn’t live up to the hype.

I love when you write a seemingly innocent article and then throw a jab in at the end.
But those singles suck and Beyonce has been in this industry like 10 years and has been doing the same shallow music. If you want to go from shallow to serious you got to do it early part of your career like Pink and Christina Aguilera did. I know this is only her third solo album but it seems like she has been around forever. And however she likes to put it a Destiny’s Child album is the same thing as a Beyonce album so she basically has had a least 5 or 6 albums out. Not to mention people seem to think she is an airhead (which I don’t believe) and cannot speak properly (which I do believe). So this transition, like the Solange transition seems forced and fake. Lets see if can strip down enough to take that lace front off.

The privacy thing as people are calling it has nothing to do with Jay he dind’t put those words in her mouth. Actually, when she began dating Jay, Oprah advised B not to discuss her relationship and she followed Lady O’s advice. Beyonce’ said that on Oprah’s show. If she wants her relationship to be private what’s the big f’kin deal? I t’s not liek you don’t knwo they were dating, or that they got married. Has the public become so ignorant that we can’t figure out what is staring us in the face. Do we really need a confirmation of their marriage? I understand what your saying but I feel that artists should grow with their fans. I think part of the problem is how fast because are making albums back to back. It doesn’t allow for that much artistic creativity or growth. I don’t want Beyonce to make up things about her life that don’t apply to her but I do want her to bring something fresh to the table. And for someone who wants to be an Icon and a Legend, that’s the least she should be able to do.

I totally agree, some people really only know mainstream Bey - she is talented and has been. Whether people agree or disagree on her on this blog she will continue to shine. The woman recorded 70 songs for 1 album … did a video for each song on the last album, some people can never give credit where credit is due. I guess it’s a good thing we all have our own opinions. I think music is about what the individual feels when they hear it, and Bey has a lot of fans so obviously people feel something when they hear her music. I have no problem giving her credit for that. But personally, I don’t care for either song. I did realize that Like a Boy was a different type of song for her, but when it got to the chorus the yelling started. I can’t take Bee with the yelling, sorry. The other song, I just didn’t care for either. It reminded me of everything I didn’t like about BDay. Maybe out of the 70 songs she recorded, she will pick the best 10 for the album (cuz I hear only 10 made the cut).

toosexy have you listened to any of her songs? I think you really have, the things you mentioned she has sung about. What is it, you want her to continuosly sing about them? What was ring the alarm about? Me, Myself and I is a prime example of a woman hurt by a cheating man, she realises she still have herself in the end to live for. That physically abusive thing, well that’s a new one on me. The cheating I know nothing about either. Or you want her to sing about the rumors of what you have heard? I never said she didn’t have problems, but at the same time some of you act like she was on drugs, was on the streets and things like that. she isn’t Mary J Blige, Keisha Cole or Alicia Keys. She doesn’t have a story to tell like them. I respect these ladies too, but these women aren’t Beyonce. Everyone brings something different to the table.

To answer your question…I think the “pop” audience connects with B, the residual Destiny’s child fans, and women/girls/females that like all the hoopla that surrounds Beyonce (weaves, eye lashes, make-up…blah blah blah) Not to mention…she’s TALENTED.
ALL OF MY FRIENDS LOVE THE HELL OUT OF SOME BEYONCE. What do we have in common? Quite frankly, we’re all girly girls. They like Rhianna…I’m on the fence. But, I think Rhi and B have tapped into that same audience.

ok so i really don’t care for this woman , but i do like some of her songs and before i say anything bad about her music i do listen first . i try to give her a chance. if she puts out something worth praise , she gets all my respect. if not then she gets nothing. this goes for any other singers as well.
as for her wedding and relationship, i can totally understand her wanting to keep her wedding pictures and her relationship private. we don’t have the right to know everything about her , but i see nothing wrong with her just giving a simple yes or no on whether she’s married. i see nothing wrong with her having those happy bride moments where she walks around in her wedding ring with a big kool aid smile because she’s happy. not the fake i’m gonna give the world a part of me for my album promotion crap.
as for her music , i just want to hear some kind of growth. maybe when the album comes out i will find something that proves she really has grown, but right now these two songs just don’t do it for me.

These celebrities lie, cheat, and will do anything to sell a cd…basically lying with a straight face to their fan. I can’t stand these type of celebrities, and we should collectively let them know we are aware of the bullsh(*, and refuse to support these celebrities, whether you like them or not. It’s just ridiculous how we reward these lying azz celebrities with new homes, new cars, new trucks, fame, grammies, expensive jewelry, bags, etc. for the big azz lies they tell. We have the power, and we can chose to not participate in their marketing ploys…stop falling for that shyt. I refuse to, and never will.
But anyways, i knew something was up with all of a sudden she stopped wearing the wigs, stopped running around with her glam team, all to get the dollars out of your pocket and once again sell you a lie. Everything she does and don’t do is to further her career. Fake, fake, fake….I don’t think anyone knows the true beyonce.

A lot of Beyonce’s songs have a lot of depth, whether she wrote them or not. Each and every song that she makes does not have to have a moral to it. That is why we have gospel music. Music can be fun people! Calm down! If she wrote about sad situations and sorry azz men, we would be talking about her being depressed. As someone said everyone is not ghetto and did not grow up with a hard life. I like Keisha Cole, can I relate to having a crack addicted mother and being adopted? No. I LOOOVVVEE MJB. Can I relate to being abused by my boyfriend? No. Is that what all of Keisha’s and MJB’s songs are about? No. So you cannot sum up a person by the songs they sing (or write) or how they tell us that they lived. We don’t know either of these women personally and should not judge them.
