Chris Brown (Or His Publicist) Says “Sorry”

Notorious woman beater, Chris Brown, finally released a prepared statement through his publicist. We know he didn’t write this statement (the publicist did) so the words are meaningless. But this is a blog and we do aim to entertain. So here it is for what it’s worth:

“Words cannot begin to express how sorry and saddened I am over what transpired. I am seeking the counseling of my pastor, my mother and other loved ones and I am committed, with God’s help, to emerging a better person. Much of what has been speculated or reported on blogs and/or reported in the media is wrong. While I would like to be able to talk about this more, until the legal issues are resolved, this is all I can say except that I have not written any messages or made any posts to Facebook, on blogs or any place else. Those posts or writing under my name are frauds.” [LINK]

Meanwhile, industry insiders are scratching their heads and asking how did Rihanna go from a man (Jay Z) to a geeky, silly, immature boy?

I know Jordin Sparks is counting her blessings that CB hooked up with RiRi instead of her!

Jay Z refused to be pulled into the middle of the drama surrounding his protégé RiRi. He told HollyScoop.com,

“It’s not a soundbite, this is a real situation. You have to have compassion for others. Just imagine it being your sister or mom and then think about how we should talk about that.”
But he added, “I just think we should all support her. She’s going through a tough time. You have to realize she’s a young girl, as well. She’s very young.”

Sandra you’re being messy as per usual! But who is his publicist? Why wait so long to release a statement? I see the usual “Jesus be my strength” strategy has been employed… maybe it will work the same magic it did for R. Kelly.

Stay up C Breezy! Seek God, counseling and anything else you need to get through this. We are all sinners acknowledge your mistake and accept responsiblity, learn your lesson and move forward. None of us were in that car that night. I do NOT condone a man hitting a woman in any shape or form. They are teens and teens make mistakes. Her father didnt seem to upset in his statement. I pray she makes a full recovery and she needs help as well if she stayed in an abusive relationship.

Thanks CB for clearing that up, Im sorry you can’t say more either, but you go ahead and handle that legal business and lets see if the DA don’t end up dropping that petty charge over nothing.

I don’t care if it did come from his publicist. That is what they are there for and this is a legal matter. All it takes is one mistake in your wording and a lawyer will use that to bring you down.

I agree Will and Jada definitely made the most sense. Its funny though how every celeb they talked to was completely shocked by how this situation could’ve come about. Everyone says he is super sweet and silly. I really feel bad about this situation and I hope everything works out for the best. Everyone makes mistakes and I do believe the media hyped it up beyond belief.

The industry insiders must have never been young adults or the must be clueless. Rihanna is a young lady no matter how mature she acts she is still young. Why wouldn’t she be attracted to a young man her age who seems to have a great personality. Plus I don’t remember Jay Z ever claiming her so….

My response to this situation got so long that I’m going to have to just write a blog on it. To sum it up, this statement is ridiculous and his handlers appear to be playing tiddly winks with his career. They need to jump on this problem better than this. This is a sad situation all around.

Rihanna is not unaffected either. Her image has been tarnished as well. Luckily for her, she is a bigger star than Chris to begin with and she had already made the transformation from wholesome adolescent to edgy young woman. This situation adds to her edge. Sure she got a serious beat down, but I don’t think anyone believes Chris just hauled off and beat and choked her to unconciousness out of the clear blue sky.

I just hope the couple’s high priced handlers start dealing with this situation properly. The media is not going to let them just ignore it.

@Bird I don’t see anything wrong with the statement. I find it funny that people(some) went on and on begging for a statement and then when he releases one jumpes all over it. He can’t catch a break right now to save his life. I wish them both the best and pray they both get the help they need. I feel he will say more when he can and deal with his “demons” then publicly. I am ready to see what she has to say.

That is the most unfeeling. pathetic attempt at an apology I’ve ever read. I hope when he finally faces her he will be more sincere with one. This is just a media PR statement to shut people up.

@ Daisy Exactly and look how many rumors jay and b had going because one was ready to settle down and the other wasn’t. If Rihanna and Jay did have anything going it would’ve never lasted anyway. Chris/rihanna seemed to compliment each other. I hope they get past it too.

@Bird I don’t think anybody believes that either. We were talking about this situation at work and I said the same thing. People tried to jump down my throat as if I was condoning him hitting her. Its definitely not that I was just saying I find it hard to believe he just snapped like that. To me it had to be more or some type of buildup. Oh well.

Rihanna’s cousin Yvonne Fenty is playing down Rihanna’s injuries. Here’s what Rihanna’s cousin reportedly said:

Rihanna is holding up well. Everyone is looking after her–she is just trying to catch herself and get her life back on track. None of this is as bad as everyone makes it sound. Her injuries weren’t near as bad as people make them sound.”

“Yes, she is going through a rough time and is upset, but she is thinking positive and resting. She will be fine.”

I will continue to wait to hear from both him and her via their people..I am still not ready to throw him out with the bath water if he is serious about getting help. Right is right and wrong is wrong and it is very WRONG to hit a woman but he is young and I feel deserves a 2nd chance cause I wasnt in the car that night and now her cuz is saying her injuries are minor (yes I know she shouldnt have any I get all that).

I’m definately not against Chris. I’m for both of them. I’m just thinking about Chris’ career and that statement is not enough. Bloggers are still overwhelmingly against him because of that statement. What it should have said is Chris is in anger management AND spiritual counselling. Then at some point he needs to come out with a tearful press release like Kobe and Michael Vick. Now he doesn’t have to do all that if he doesn’t want to, but he has to do it if he wants to maintain his superstardom. That’s all I’m saying. I’m not against the boy.

Chris can seek anger mangement help if thats what he needs but I dont need that in a public statement. Phelps didnt say he was going to get drug counseling? I am fine with what he has said at this point. He will say more and may get to the anger part later on down the road when things have cooled off a bit. All these so called ppl mad on the blogs are they really hardcore C breezy fans? I like his music but I dont have either of his cds. I think if it comes out that this fight/dispute/altercation/laying of hands etc is NOT nearly as bad as the media made it out to be he wont have to do much damage control at all. I think they both laid hands on each other but that did not give him the right to attack/hit/assualt her in the manner that he allegedly did.

Exactly ,,,ALLEGEDLY DID…so if we don’t know WTF allegedly attacked condition she is in, then we can’t say that he allegedly fukked her up….We just need to leave what we don’t know out of the equation. And yes I have both CDs and I brought them both—no bootlegs. However that has nothing to do with me remaining a fan. You don’t have to be a die hard fan of someone NOT TO BELIEVE WHAT AN INSIDER, SOURCE, OR BLOG SAYS ABOUT A SITUATION only 2 people witnessed…and those 2 people have yet to tell us what happened.

@Krysi J..lol Thanks for keeping me laughing during this entire ordeal. Now I may not own a C Brown cd but like I said I do enjoy his music and dancing. He is a pretty decent actor as well. On the flipside I have been on team RiRi as well from the beg. pon da replay days. I really do hate this happened for the both of them.

Hello Sandra Rose family, I own both of Chris’ CDs, in fact my family has 2 copies of each of his 2 CDs because each was re-released. We also own Rihanna’s CD. My kids and I are HUGE fans of both. I love Chris as a fan and almost as much as he was my little brother or son. This incident has hurt my heart so much it put me in depression and tears for a couple days after the news broke. I could never imagine that anything like this would happen. So I am definitely not a Chris hater.

However, as I have said before, I cannot imagine what Rihanna did to deserve the beating she received. So all the Rihanna bashers will be quieted for good, and sadly that is mostly black women as we, in our own self hating way, compulsively do to one another (unlike any other group), I cannot wait for the pictures to come out, so there is no longer any doubt on anyone’s part of what has “transpired.”

As much as I love Chris, he beat Rihanna and there must be and will be consequences for his actions.

I do hope that, in due time, he can get past this as appropriate and reach his full potential in the world, and Rihanna will as well.

The police charged Chris with threats because that carried a longer jail sentence than DV. If they can’t get their case together for criminal threats, he will be charged with DV and they don’t need Rihanna to press charges.

God bless both these young people and their families. To parapharase Jay Z, they’re young, really young…such a sad situation

Honey there is no such thing as a Domestic Violence charge…there is assault and battery, domestic violence is a description of the crime….Criminal threat sounds petty compared to that. So obviously more evidence was needed for GOOD reason! But I will let the facts tell you hun

FIRST DEGREE ASSAULT is a class three felony, as well as an extraordinary risk crime, which means the presumptive sentencing range is from 4 to 16 years in prison. Because the judge must sentence a defendant to at least as high as the midpoint of this range, the judge must impose at least 10 years. There are exceptions based on “Heat of Passion” being a part of the factual circumstances of the offense. In other words, if the person charged with assault was provoked by another person, this may remove the case from a mandatory sentence, and the judge can decide not to send the person to prison.

Second degree assault is treated the same
and THIRD degree assault is a misdemeanor and only carries a maximum of 2 year sentencing.

Criminal Threats only carry a maximum sentence of 3 years.

SO WHAT DA FUKK ARE YOU TALKING ABOUT???
