UPDATE:
My apologies to Russell Simmons. I just heard the full story behind Al B. Sure's relationship with his son. They were born on the same day and you would think that man could pick up the phone and call his own son on his own birthday! Al has 4 other kids, but only Quincy is his twin!

Quincy was right to write this letter in order to heal his emotional wounds. This is something Albert needs to read!

And let this be a lesson to other dead beat dads who sling seed but aren't man enough to take responsibility for their children.

I could say a LOT more, but I promised someone I wouldn't.

Quincy Brown, Al B. Sure's son with Kim Porter, wrote an emotional open letter to his father on Russell Simmons' Global Grind web portal. The letter describes Quincy's yearnings to be closer to his biological father while growing up.

Albert Brown, also known as "Al B Sure!" is my biological father, but Sean Combs, also known as "Diddy" has been a father figure in my life for as long as I can remember. Sean Combs is the person whom I look up to and appreciate as a father. He is the one who help mold me into the person I am today and will always try to live up to his expectations. He has always been supportive of me and I will forever love and respect him. As far as my biological father goes, the "spitting image" is all I have taken from him. Throughout my life, I've always wondered about him; Where he was? What was he doing? and most importantly, Was he even thinking about me? The absence of my father has given me a better understanding of what type of man I am going to be. I am grateful for my mom's love, support, guidance, and for her strength. READ MORE...

    "Anyone who’s been around Quincy knows that his father didn’t just abandon him."
    ~~~~~~~~
    Sadndra since you seem to know the story can you explain to the rest of us?
  • masonmom
    gotta get off on ur own girrrl got get off on ur own-WOO!
  • masonmom
    that "letter" is a sham! diddy wouldnt let him put his business out there like that. i dont believe u, u need more peoples!!
  • Shauny
    Yeah I'm confused too. Is Al B. participating in the parenting of Quincy or not? Quincy doesn't seem to think so.
    I did however see an interview on BET J where Al B. seem to make reference to everything not being what it seemed with his son.
  • pointhimout
    welcome to the club lil man. welcome to the club. those are the same words thousands and thousands of black men utter when it comes to our fathers. you almost wanna ask 'why you hate me or what did I do to make you walk out on me?' men really dont know the affects this has on lil dudes.
    i dont know the story of why AL B wasn't "in his life" but if the son is reaching out, u gotta give him something. sure puffy prolly a good role model yada yada yada, but that's justin's daddy, not mine. that's christian's dad, not mine.
    man, I feel ur pain lil dude. to have everything in the world except that connection with ur father. i dont russell's exploiting it to save hits on his website. hopefully it will get attn from the person the letter's addressed to.
    TEAM QUINCY
  • http://myspace.com/necee518 yvonne79
    I really pray there isn't any truth to the lyrics of his song. Quincy says he and his father have the same birthday and dude doesn't call. That's not cool....
  • pointhimout
    ***I dont think Russell's****
  • http://myspace.com/necee518 yvonne79
    @pointhimout...If Quincy NEVER had Al's attention he has it now. Al meet Quincy halfway. It's never too late.Aw, I hate these kinds of stories. My heart can't take it...
  • chat bout
    looks to me like big-teeth diddy is not that much of a man himself.being in and out of quincy's mother life and showering quincy with material shit does not make one a father.children love "things". evil ass diddy may have use "things" to win over his(quincy) love for him(diddy)as dad.ppl there are TWO sides to every story.
  • http://myspace.com/latituded400 H-Town Shan
    It is tacky of Global Grind to publish what I believe is personal family business.
  • Daisy
    I saw this on another site and found it to be suspect at best. There are 3 sides to every story. I just find it odd that he would go public with this now if this is truly how he feels. Stranger things have happened but I am not convinced just yet. Al I will give you the benefit of the doubt for now. Anybody who has seen Puffy and Q interact know they are close though which isn't a bad thing.
  • omina-homina
    Damn, not only do they look alike; but they share the same birthday? WOW!
    But didn't he do a reality show with his dad? They've taken pictures in the media over the years, no? what was that about?
  • Daisy
    Didn't Russell also post that Matthew was Kellys biological father just last week? He must really be trying to save global grind from going down the drain.
  • omina-homina
    @Daisy, yes it is strange. MMM, let's see...what label is he on? Is it Bad Boy?
  • http://myspace.com/necee518 yvonne79
    Don't get caught up in the letter. Click on the link and go listen to the track. Quincy is hurting
  • flyqtnva
    Well I do remember Diddy treating him like his own son during his SWEET special. I thought it was great and I wondered where his father was. You dont even her AL B SURE talk about his son (he has a radio show).....Anyhow I just got the vibe from Qunicy that Diddy did step up to the bat so y clown DIDDY....You guys know if you had the money you would shower your kids with things. He also referred to Diddy as his father,,kids know when your being phone. Qunicy stay up and I commend diddy this time anyway. The jury is still out on Diddy and the women in HIS LIFE.
  • flyqtnva
    MTV sweet 16 special...watch it
  • Sal72
    I wonder if Chance is wondering about her "Dad" yet? Will she come out with a little ditty about Diddy in 15 years?
    SMH at black men laying their seed everywhere and SMH at my sisters for putting up with it.
  • http://smokiesays.blogspot.com/ Smokie
    I don't know how anyone could think this letter is anything other real. This boy is hurting. Don't act like y'all don't have kids who could write the same letter to their father. Happens all the time. Black men need to OWN UP!
  • http://smokiesays.blogspot.com/ Smokie
    other "than" real.
  • omina-homina
    ...they needed a good marketing angle, they know there are a lot of people out here with negligent/absent dads (or a parent).
    I'm inclined to think that Al B was indeed part of Quincy's life.
    they tryna sell records FGS! lol
  • omina-homina
    @Sal72, exactly!
  • mizzdallas
    I know that young Q is growing into a man, so he is going to form his own opinions and whatnot, but putting your father on blast is disrespectful. My father didn’t do ish for me but I never talk bad about him because I had the love and support from my mother and my grandparents.
    I bet Kim had something to do with Al not able to see his son Q, just like she doesn’t want the twins to get to know there half sister chance... Smdh @ phuckin loser, diddy is not anybody to be looked up too he has been shacking with yo momma and sticking everything in site...
  • brwnsugga4you
    i'm not buying this. i'm sure kim had something to do with the interference of AL B not being able to be a father to his child. woman do it all the time....i think she yearned for the dream of her and diddy being married and living a happyily ever after together. unfortunately, that never happened.
  • http://myspace.com/msjaxson1920 smurfette1920
    I think Quincy is closer to Diddy because that's who his mom was with most of his life. My son's dad is in his life and they are close but his dad lives in another state so they don't see each other as much as they would like to, so it happens that my son is closer to my daughter's father because that's who is with him every day and interacts with his physically daily. Younger kids don't always understand why a parent can't be there physically (due to work or whatever). It just appears that they're not there and it is the parents' responsibility to explain as I have done with my son so he just knows he's blessed to have 2 dads. If Kim wouldn't have shuffled him from pilar to post behind Diddy, maybe him and his dad would be closer (just my speculation). But who knows..
  • iscream
    @ Daisy Miss Jones posted that Matthew was Kelly father via that web site.
    @ Topic... hmmm. I remember a few years back when Misa was going thru the child support drama. She said its was hard for her to "compete" with Puffy bc he had millions. So her son would go there live the life & then come home to real life.
    I think a lot of this Puffy is the better father has to do with Puffy has the deeper pockets. Not to take anything away from Puff bc he did step into the shoes and held it down. But how many tears has this boy saw his mother shed over this man.
    I think if he had an issue with his dad he should've taken that up with his dad.
    But Puffy has an album coming out and this could be part of his promotion.
  • kwallace577
    idk what to make of this. i need more people telling me that albert has not been a father to this child. i sense a little brainwashing. i could be wrong but the whole thing sounds programmed.
  • http://myspace.com/bettathaniwasb4 2bme
    hmm i understand he wasn't there as much but it seems like alot of gloating for Diddy, the sma eman who has dogged his mother several times including having a child only a few moths older than his twin sisters..yeah way to praise him for the man he is..sounds like b.s to me. Al may have not been great but i'm not buying the whole not in my life story..i second guess anything that has Diddy involved
  • brwnsugga4you
    #25 i feel you. but, my daughter's father lives in another state as well...and it's just like he's here. i make her accessible to at all times. meaning, answering his calls. keeping him in the loop with school etc...and she has a realtionship with my man as well. but, she knows she only has one father..and that's the way i'm keeping it.
  • mizzdallas
    @brwns
    Exactly woman do it all the time and Kim got with Al and once his money ranned out she got with Puffy and hopes and becoming his wife...
  • omina-homina
    Ok, i gotta come back and say this...this is a GOOD SONG, compared to what a lot of other rap music has been about over the years...the message is good, simple and inspirational! The song does serves a POSITIVE purpose and I hope a helps a lot of youth navigate through their personal storms.
    Even though the real story/circumstances behind the artist singing it may be contrived; and I don't think that Sean Combs is THAT GREAT of a person, I think the song is worthy of praise.
  • http://myspace.com/msjaxson1920 smurfette1920
    @brwn..he knows dad is dad and his sister's dad is not his "dad" but he doesnt treat him any different. He talks to his dad all the time, almost everyday, but when he is playing football or hitting a homerun and looks to the sideline for cheers and support it's me and and my daughter's dad there. Those are times his dad won't be able to get back. So for him to say he has 2 dads is a blessing because a child can never get too much love but I'm not shuffling my baby all over behind no damn man-especially not sperm donating diddy. He may have been a dad to him but he's fathering many more and I'm not sure if that's the example for a young man to want to be when he grows up unless he's donating sperm for money or to help those who can't reproduce naturally.
  • Shauny
    um yeah I saw Sweet 16 and Puff was in the forefront more than Kim. I don't know if that would be a good example of being a good parent, not to say tha Puffy isn't but throwing a 100k or more party isn't a requirement to be a good parent.
  • iscream
    & Amen to everybody that recognize that the relationship btw Q & Al likely has a lot to do with Kim.
    I agree. She was so busy chasing behind Puff trying to get that ring that she probably made it impossible for him to want to come around. I don't know the full story & now that Q has tried to throw his pops to the wolves I hope Al speaks out on this. He probably was trying to take the high road & not shyt on Kim.
    Again Puff has an album coming out. Perfect timing. *rolls eyes*
  • brwnsugga4you
    #32 i understand your point.
    i just think we as woman need to do a better job with keeping the relationships together and not interferring in the bond between a father and his child. so many woman do this and then the child grows up thinking the father didnt' give a d*mn about them. when in fact the mother blocked any effort he could of having a relationship with is child. very sad.
  • http://myspace.com/msjaxson1920 smurfette1920
    Amen brwn. Cheers to good dads because I am thankful my son and daughter have their own dads respectively and each other's dads.
  • Shauny
    Whose words are those in the update? Are those Sandra's words because she seemed to already know that Al was in Quincy's life before.
    Dang, folks be checking for SR post. That was a quick "update"
  • Kat
    damn al b....step your game up dawg!
  • http://myspace.com/necee518 yvonne79
    @brwnsugga4you...you are so right! There are a LOT of women out there who make it hard for the father to be there for their child. Kudos to those who are in the picture making thangs happen
  • Krysi J
    Its unfortunately Kim's curse for being the type of woman she is. Instead of being with a man because of his wealth and placing herself and her son in that situation...she should have put more thought into dating a celebrity. I mean really you never know when a celeb will fall off, you never know when they will go broke so all these golddiggers running up behind one are jokes. If you are going to be that type of woman, please just get your money and keep it moving don't bring children into your selfishness, because they always get the short end of the stick. Now he has Diddy, but he respects a man that openly cheats on his mom and even has the nerve to get in a magazine on front street to tell the world he doesn't want to marry her.....however "he will always live up to his expectations"..............and we wonder why the value of black families have reduced to 0..........its every man for himself. NO ONE CARES ANYMORE.
  • KaraZ
    @brownsug/iscream, I agree.
    Kim more likely than not, has just some blame in the strained relationship between her son and his father. I know my relationship with my father is strained largely due to the anger and bitterness that my mother held on to for years. Maybe she kept us from him because she believed he might have hurt, disappointed and fail us the way he failed her as a husband, I don't know... but the older I get the less I place 100% blame on my father for the way things turned out.
  • MissGauzzz
    yeah i'm with some of the rest of ya'...they need more people...diddy need to be somebody his own seed can look up to..i have YET to see a pic of him with baby chance (has anyone else?)...like an earlier poster said, he better hope chance doesn't pen a song about his trifling dick slingin' ways later down the road!
  • http://myspace.com/necee518 yvonne79
    As long as there is breath in your lungs, NO ONE should stop you from being a part of your child's life- period! So, what if you can't stand the mother and she can't stand you. You better learn how to get along for the sake of the children.Don't stop calling. Don't stop sending gift cards, birthday cards, etc in the mail. NO EXCUSES!!!
    Hopping off my soapbox
  • iscream
    Mmmhhhmmm Kara.
    The older you get, the more life you live, the more you can understand.
    Quincy is still growing. Hopefully his dad steps up and helps him work thru this.
    Can't remember who but I agree w. The comment about will this be Chance in the next 15 years. Since Puffy is the new Will Smith. Ooops Will married both the women he fathered children with.
    Will Smith the man.
  • teecee
    LITTLE BOY HAS THE POOREST ROLL MODELS FOR A MAN... BUT MAN HOOD ISNT SOMETHING YOU ARE BORN WITH, ITS SOME YOU DEVELOP THROUGH TRIAL AND ERROR AND THE ABILITY TO SURVIVE.
  • Daisy
    I am still not convinced Al is a deadbeat. I will wait to hear his side of the story. If this letter is real/true I wonder if Al knew that's how Q felt. I sure hope he expressed himself privately before putting him on blast.
    I am so glad I do not have a baby daddy. Thank you Jesus!
  • flyqtnva
    Yall killing me today yo...lets be honest here...ITS KIM FAULT,,,,she allowed to be treated that way..anit nobody force her...POINT BLACK if you saw the show there is a genuine father/son relationship there...how he treats the mom is how she allows to be treated..SAME THING GOES FOR CHANCE MAMA..she allows her child to be ignored if thats the case...DAMN..yall cant blame it all on DIDDY it takes 2....these dumb ass women yo...half ya'll on here have/will spit out a seed for MUCH LESS!! These two HOES did it for the DOUGH...i dont think they care about anything else other than the LIFESTYLE!!
  • pointhimout
    yeah when i saw all the posts, i wondered "who has an album, perfume, or product coming out."
    i sympathize if it's real. if it's for publicity, oh well. whatever.
  • MUNCHOSGIRL
    YVONNE I SO AGREE WITH WHAT YOU SAID. THERE REALLY IS NO EXCUSE, I USED TO STAN VERY HARD FOR AL, GOD KNOWS I DIDN'T EVEN KNOW HE HAD A SON, MORE A LESS CHILDREN. IF THE PARENT WANTS TO BE IN THEIR CHILDS LIFE, I DON'T THINK ANYTHING CAN STAND IN THEIR WAY. PEOPLE MAKE THINGS HAPPEN EVERY DAY. SAD TO SAY I THINK KIM MAY HAVE HAD A HAND IN THIS SITUATION.
  • Krysi J
    I agree fly.
  • flyqtnva
    To me it seems like all his BABY MAMA's are for the DOUGH,,,why...who NEEDS forty grand to support 1 child..GOD SAYS TAKE NO MORE THAN WHAT YOU NEED!!!,,, I cant wait til these kids get older,,,we will definately see what values they were rasied with..BUT OUT THE BOX they all go PARENTS MAKING BAD CHOICES,,,,WHEN I WAS 15 everyone I knew had babies,,i was like I'LL BE DAMNED if I let a BOY run up in me...I'LL BE DAMNED a nigga have me on medicaid..foodstamps..strugglin while he chillin with another chick..You want me..so you say...prove IT..IM WORTH IT..YOU GOTTA DROP TO THEM KNEES & GIVE ME MY RING...T dropped babies only after I was MARRIED.
  • flyqtnva
    @Krysi J
    I dont know y we always on the same page..i just posted some where people dont care no more...lol
  • anti-PC
    That is a shame. But I am inclined to agree with those who say that Kim may have had something to do with Al B. Sure not seeing his son.
    Ladies-- even if you hate your ex-man's guts, you should not step between him/her and his child. Even if they don't have a dime to their name, if they are willing to at least walk around the park with the offspring or just sit and talk, that means LOADS more than sending them a child-support check or a pair of sneakers here and there.
    And menfolk-- get it together! There are no more Virgin Mary's!!! It takes TWO to conceive!!!
  • Daisy
    @Fly I always speak up for Diddy. He ain't do nothing the women didnt allow. He claims Chance she knows and will know thats her daddy. If Sarah wanted Chance to be "seen" with Diddy she would make sure it happened. So if Chances mother is cool then who am I to rant and rave about her not being treated like his others kids and what not. If Kim wants to follow Puffy to west hell thats her choice as well.
    I have always looked Puffy as a personality
  • http://sandrarose.com Sandra Rose
    anti-PC Says:
    That is a shame. But I am inclined to agree with those who say that Kim may have had something to do with Al B. Sure not seeing his son.
    *******************************************************
    That's an incorrect assumption that I also made. The truth is, Kim tried to shame Albert into seeing his son many times.
  • http://myspace.com/dannyblaq dblaq
    As a single father, I don't comprehend how anybody can just live with themselves knowing they have a child out here, leaving it to fend for itself. Out of the whole deal, the kid has absolutely nothing to do with the decision both parents or more like f%%ckers made.
    Didn't we just have another post where the women said that they control who gets up in there and who don't so obviously yall need to readjust your radar because if you allow a ni99a to skeet up in you raw dawg like that and he winds up to be a dead beat most likely, he was a dumbass to begin with. No real man would not step up to his responsibility no matter what the circumstance is. That is just my opinion. Don't blame the fathers, the mothers are just as much to blame.
    Then again these dudes know how to strap up and if you can't deal with the woman as a baby mama then don't smash it. I try to choose my women wisely, because everything that feels good to you is not necesarily good for you! Ask a crack head
  • flyqtnva
    Yeah I dont think she is to blame for AL B SURE not seeing his son...but people making it seem like Diddy treated her wrong so how can he take care of her SON...WTF
  • starr
    If this is how Quincy feels, then he has a right to express himself. As far as it being Kim's fault....I"m over the whole "she won't let him be apart of my kid's life story". Thats not good enuff for me....sry
  • anti-PC
    @Auntie,
    I stand corrected. Then Al is a deadbeat and that is heartbreaking because I have always loved him ever since 'Nite & Day'.
  • anti-PC
    AMEN @dblaq!
    You spoke the truth.
  • Daisy
    Until I hear Kim on record saying Al is a deadbeat and then I hear Als side I will continue to give him the benefit of the doubt. I don't believe sources w/o names...
  • pointhimout
    SKEET UP IN IT .....that was hot.
  • Mspeng
    I guess I'll put my story out there. I used to think my dad wanted nothing to do with me. The only thing I have for him is his name. I used to carry a lot of resentment towards him but now, not so much. As an adult now I can see how it's possible for my mom to have been a factor in my dad having nothing to do with me. He died when I was 15 and I was at the funeral thinking, I don't even know this man. Now that I can understand, I don't have him to explain what really went on. And I mourn over a relationship that could have been. I don't miss my dad because I never knew him to miss him. But I miss the potential. So hopefully Al and Quincy can mend before something unfortunate happens to either of them. And for all you women out there, please make sure that you don't keep your children from their fathers. It causes so much hurt and feelings of neglect...and it may never be able to be repaired. It's not worth it.
  • terika83
    You guys are right....I mean we really don't know, but he seems to have a good relationship with Quincy's older brother who was on that singing show with AL there to watch and for support. (Can't rem. the name) But Idk why he would be so close to him and not Quincy...he can't deny him as his child so that can't be it either. I'm thinking it has something to do with Kim. Maybe not that she kept him away but she is def. involved somehow.
  • miamore73
    I also was raised without my father in my life. I also am the spitting female image of him. I've since forgiven my father for his absence and he's passed on. Quincy is going to have a way to deal with whatever pain or resentment he's dealing with towards his biological father and move on. It's only going to hurt him in the long run.
    Diddy appears to be a self centered egotistical butt hole BUT when it comes to this situation he's just the best. Whether he was there all the time or not whether he just provided financial support whether he was only there on birthdays...HE WAS THERE!!! We don't know the extent of the relationship between Diddy and Quincy but what we do know is that he was there.
  • MIZZ.I_REP_ATL
    I couldn't continue reading the remainder of the letter 'cuz for some reason the page would not appear. That's was very heartfelt what Quincy expressed, but why now, when Diddy been that father figure from the beginning. (And I guess this is what Quincy wants).
    Anyhoo, my opinion: I could careless for reaching out to someone who hasn't been in my life majority of the times. I was raised by my mom. I knew of my sperm donor (ok, father) but I just never cared to get to know him/tell him how I feel, 'cause whenever he came around/saw him, he rarely expressed any interest towards me. So I consider my mom as my father figure plus, I have a older brother as well so I was good.
    But for Quincy, I applaud him for doing what you did (quite sure it took alot of guts) and you made a valuable point when u mentioned:"The absence of my father has given me a better understanding of what type of man I am going to be." - That's it right there and life goes on.
  • intensemocha
    IT'S FUNNY THE LENGTHS THAT PEOPLE WILL GO TO, TO EXPLAIN AWAY THE ABSCENCE OF A FATHER-THE UNFORSEEN JUSTIIFICATIONS OR ENDLESS POSSIBILITIES AS TO WHY HE'S NOT IN HIS CHILD'S LIFE
    BUT AS A PARENT MORESO AS A MOTHER; THERE IS NOTHING IN THIS WORLD OTHER THAN IMPRISONMENT AND DEATH THAT WOULD KEEP ME FROM MY FLESH AND BLOOD CHILD OR ADULT CHILD AND THERE IS NO ACCEPTABLE EXCUSE FOR NOT BEING THERE FOR YOUR OWN FLESH AND BLOOD, JUST EXCUSES FOR NOT ACCEPTING YOUR OWN RESPONSIBILITY
  • intensemocha
    MOST OF US CAN'T FATHOM THE HARD, CRUEL, REALITY THAT THERE ARE MEN ON THIS EARTH WHO VERY MUCH SO DESERVED TO THE TITLE DOG-THEIR BEHAVIOR TO PROCREATING IS QUITE SIMILAR TO DOGS WALKING AROUND PISSING ON TREES WITHOUT A CARE IN THE WORLD WITHOUT LOOKING BACK
    I KNOW WOMAN CARRY THE CHILD AND HAVE IT AND YADA, YADA-BUT EVERYDAY A WOMAN WAKES UP AND IS PHYSICALLY PRESENT IN THAT CHILD'S LIFE SHE'S TAKING FULL RESPONSIBILITY FOR HAVING THAT CHILD-THAT ABSENT FATHER IS NOT
  • mjoylaw
    Quincy is hurting badly and ABS should be highly ashamed of himself. No matter who is at fault and who did what to whom, Albert had a responsibility to ENSURE that he was present and accountable in every way for Quincy and he gets a BIG FAT FAIL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
    But you can retake the class and get your grade changed Al..
    IT IS TIME TO MAAAAN UUUUUPP!!!!!!!!!! The door is wide open and ain't.nobody.stopping.you.from.being.a.father.NOW
  • mjoylaw
    God please help this boy, this does not make any sense and I feel his pain. Amen
  • http://myspace.com/thegameoncw Bird
    I get where Quincey is coming from. Like millions of others, our stories are pretty similar. Obviously the time Al has carved out for Quincey lately is not enough. He needs to have that conversation with his child, but if Al B. is like my dad it won't change things. I can't just tell him to get over it. The fact is his father is an idiot. As for Diddy I don't know how lucky the boy and future women in his life are because of that association. Diddy is an absentee partent for his own kids and not the best example of manhood. But at least he has someone to look up to and he has had a priveledged life.
  • dakotab
    I understand and am on the same page with Quincy JR. but what about SARAH CHAPMAN's baby and Puffy.
    Can a man play both sides of the fence. Take care of one seed that's not his and attempt to hide another.
