In Memory of Michael Jackson (1958-2009)
Michael Jackson fans all over the world are stunned at the news of pop legend Michael Jackson’s death at the age of 50. I am not ashamed to admit I was a huge Michael Jackson fan for as long as I can remember.
As kids in 1974, my youngest brother and me were lucky enough to meet the legend up close and even dance with him in Miami, Florida.
I had a feeling Michael would die young because of all the abuse he put his body through and the drugs he ingested over the years. Still, the news of Michael’s untimely death came as a shock.
After the break, I posted my favorite photos of Michael Jackson, the way I want to remember him, before the surgeries and eccentric behavior.

This is so sad. I have had a rough day all day. I can only imagine what the family is feeling. I have had a Michael Jackson concert today. Sandra, thanks so much for all the pictures of Michael. He will be missed.
As far as his kids, they have no mother…..she gave them away and turned over her parental rights.
Sandra thank you for all of these great pics!!! I started crying when I saw footage of “I want you back”. I am 38 so I remember J5 and sweet young Michael. Off the Wall still one of my favorite albumns… My husband had the pleasure of meeting him as well (Nupes taught him to step for a HBO special). Now I know how some felt when Elvis died… I can’t watch CNN anymore…

In watching these tributes I’m starting to wonder.. maybe he wasn’t the person most people thought he was ( a pedophile) I think he really had a compassion for kids and possibly some kind of.. I am not going to front MJ was one of my idols, what this man did in music and entertainment will NEVER EVER be again!!!! He represented so much more than music from having people all over the world losing their mind by his present, from having kids in the hood wearing parachute pants, he leather jackets, jheri curls, one glove, moonwalking. The countless hits he put out, his shows. This man embodied what NO OTHER artist today ever will. No R. Kelly, Jagged Edge, Ginuwine, Jeremih, Beyonce, Keri Hilson not one of these artists can carry that torch. Mike was an international icon.
I see a lot of people just put RIP but I don’t care too much about artists anymore because of that reason because they simply hold no substance. Mike lived for entertainment. That is why he was half crazy because his entire life was dedicated to please others, he never had a chance to be just Mike. I think we all would be crazy, we can say that we were lucky that he didn’t shoot up a place and killed some people with that pressure he had on him.
I was in Munich Germany when he was on his Bad Tour, I didn’t get to go but he concert you could see the lights and sound all over the city. The city of Munich is over twice as big as Atlanta. The man had even dudes fall out going crazy. The Russian Army March for him. I don’t know any other artist ever to do that, he had Sheiks wanting him to come to their countries.
MJ is a true Legend and Icon. It so sad that he had to die before people recognized what he has done over 4 decades. Hopefully now he can rest in peace since no one would give him his peace when he was alive.

Thank you for these wonderful pictures. I fell in love with Michael around 1972 so those pics were a real treat. He was so gorgeous. But even after his transformation his spirit was still beautiful.
Watching Anderson Cooper 360 made me sad with all the talk of how lonely Michael was and how he was surrounded by people who didn’t really have a personal relationship with him. No wonder he had no interest in adults. They all treated him like a pay check since he was a small child. The saddest of all was how his attorney said he new after 20 minutes with Mike that he knew he would not live to a ripe old age because he was so amazingly frail. I just wish I could have hugged him and convinced him that not all grownups are bad.
God bless my baby. He’s at peace now.
I was on another site that had a link to people going at Perez Hilton about talking chit about Michael Jackson. I go to his site and people are blasting him for saying it was a publicity stunt and he wanted to steal FF’s thunder. Then when it was confirmed he was dead he just posted Michael Jackson is here with a click here link.

i was always hoping that he didn’t do anything to those kids. i couldn’t really say whether he did or he didn’t do it . i just know that those parents were effing shady . no way in h*ll would i send my kids to a grown man’s home to spend the night when he was accused once of touching kids. that never sat right with me. after he was acquitted i just put all that mess in the hands of god. if he did do it , he might have been innocent in the eyes of the law , but he couldn’t run from god. if he didn’t do it , i feel sorry that he had to endure all that drama . all in all though i never stopped loving his music .

Someone with his talent comes once in a lifetime. Thanks for the positivity Sandra. I hate seeing all of the negativity about this man in the white media. When someone is gone we should always try to focus on the positive. What he gave us was the best of him and that was his undeniable talent. He will surely be missed. There will never be another.

All in all people we are taking this so hard because some of us take life for granted. It is a most precious and delicate thing. You are shocked when something happens unexpected like death. This was a person who the media treated like **it with its accusations. There would be no Ne-yo, Usher, Ginuwine, Chris Brown, Rihanna, Beyonce, 50% of R & B and Pop is due to this man here. I will greatly miss him and his talent and the United States should be ashamed the way that they treated him, He had to go overseas to get the true love that he deserved to get here at home. RIP Michael,now you can have your peace and you don’t have to hide anymore, you can really enjoy your life now. Love always and the rest can just Beat IT.

I think every little kid growing up intimadated Michael. It was hillarious. Even some of the biggest wanna be thugs/gangsta’s wanted to be Michael as a kid. Looking back now, I dont this generation or any future generations have anyone that comes close to being the megastar that he was. I am truly saddened!!!!!!!!!! I remember the first time I saw “Remember the Time” and countless others. He was loving and yet had so much swag before anyone knew what the term endured. I’d love to see someone try to recreate Thriller. As a kid I always hoped it would be a movie.

I not saying I believe the National Enquirer, but I said yesterday that Micheal may have feared the end was close and wanted a last hurrah. He threw that world tour together real fast and was having difficulties getting it together. Sometimes people can sense it even if a doctor doesn’t tell us.
I didn’t realize until this morning how much Micheal is ingrained into our culture and daily lives. Whether a fan or not, he had some influence on us all.
I was reminded that I had a red leather jacket for a long time. Also, I played his music at many of my parties … good dancing music … many of his songs are classics and will be played forever.
I am actually sickened by this.
Sandra thank you for posting these timeless photos. Michael was such a handsome young man. Never understood what caused him to alter hislooks so drastically.
I grew up on this man in the eighties. I am sad by this.

I don’t know if I could name one favorite song but This Place Hotel aka Heartbreak Hotel is the one that has been in heavy rotation on my mixtapes and now iPod every since it came out. It has been on my iPod since I purchased it. But that is not a Michael Jackson song. I was a huge fan of The Jackson 5 and The Jacksons. At some point in my youth I “quit” Michael and started “going with” Randy for a short period then I “quit” Randy for Marlon. In recent years I’ve lusted for Jackie who I think has aged wonderfully. I’m a Jackson ho of the highest order.

No doubt. Michael’s passing has just raised the awards show’s ratings probably 10 times what it was going to be. I certainly wasn’t pressed to watch it before. Now I plan to record it and keep it for life. Big stars that may not have planned on attending will now be there. BET better do him proud. Hopefully someone they couldn’t originally afford will step in to help them to insure it goes off without a hitch. And I just know my black folks are going to be on their best behavior.

I said last night BET needs to get with it and do right by the MJ tribute that I am sure they started working on yesterday. Usher is in Paris per his call to the radio station so he needs to be back in LA and on stage at the BET awards paying homage(sp) along with C Breezy and Ne yo and anybody else they can think of. BET is known to JACK up something so I pray they get this right with such short notice…lol I was going to watch anyway.
People can take shots at BET all day long but they do right by the BET awards..lol They have been good every year thus far!

You know what? Even the media had to step back from Chris’ current struggles due to the fact that he is the current artist who is most like Mike. I hope BET is brave enough to let him perform. Only he could do a Mike tribute justice when it comes to the dancing. I will be severely disappointed if he doesn’t perform.
Also, if I see one reality show hoochie on the red carpet I’m gonna hunt down any BET employee I can find and shake them to death. I know A-Listers are clamoring to be there now so save the garbage for next year.

I feel sad for the world today, a true natural-born star is gone. I don’t think anyone will ever come close to creating the same feelings that Michael’s music gave people through the decades, in different generations and in different cultures. I don’t even think people come like that anymore. What an incredible loss, he’s really irreplaceable.

I don’t know if people have been checking TMZ, but they are basically reporting that the doctor, who lived with Michael (side eye), killed him. They say he gave Mike a shot of Demoral and his heart stopped very shortly thereafter. Now that high priced drug dealer is missing. I know Mike needs to be held accountable for his addiction and no doubt he has been, but all of these doctors that happily leached off of him should be taken down. If this man fed him Demoral on the regular I want him in jail right along with Mike’s opportunistic plastic surgeon. He was truly surrounded by parasites.

The mess the jumped off after James Brown’s death will pale in comparison. You’re just gonna have to try to ignore it. At least right now we can mourn before the storm. God bless those kids!

I was really tripped out yesterday. I was tripped out because I was so emotional over Michael Jacksons death. I mean I had a headache I was crying. I think the suddeness of his death freaks me out. I felt like I lost an old friend that I hadn’t really seen or thought about in a really long time.
I wonder how long will it take for the madness to begin. Between his estate and those kids there is gonna be some trouble. Do the real parents come back and try to claim their babies for a profit?? I personally hope he left everything to his mother.

My heart is deeply saddened for Katherine Jackson. I cannot stop thinking about her. I hate for any mother to have to bury a child.
During MJ’s career, she had to watch him experience the extremes of life - love and pain. She had to watch her son - the most talented man to ever grace the planet Earth – self destruct right before her eyes because even with all that talent he never took the opportunity to love himself or fully accept himself.
He spent his time wanting to go back to a place in his life that was never to be again – childhood. Once it is over, it is over. And no amount of money or plastic surgery can bring it back.
The stage is where he felt the most comfortable. However, you cannot live your life on stage at all times. He was off stage more than he was on stage. While off stage, it is hard for him to ignore his pain and self hatred. And Katherine had to stand in the wings and quietly (sometimes crying) watch her beautiful and gifted baby destroy himself.
Depression and mental illness should be taken more seriously within our society and the healthcare community. Medical professional have to do more than just write a prescription. The church, medical profession and holistic practitioners have to come together and create more holistic approaches to mental illness and depression and make it more assessable to the general public.
Attorneymom will now get off her soapbox and wipe the tears from her eyes. Increase the peace within.

They said Paul told him about the catalogs and that they would be worth a lot of money and he brought them from Apple or something. My question is why in the hell didn’t Paul already own them. Hubby has always told me that. MJ was his super hero.(hubby) did grow up in a two parent home and his parents are still married. He just said that he wished he could have seen him in concert. We go to Prince concerts and NBL games., Hubby has always appreciated Michaels music and talent. He had me convinced that MJ was “the man”. I can’t convince him that Whitney will have a come back. We love who we love. Celebs are in our homes if you turn on the tv or get online.

Daisy - I saw Prince and Morris Day and The Time a few years ago and it still stands as the BEST concert I’ve seen in my life. He sang EVERYTHING and with a live band. I was hoarse feet hurt from dancing and stomping. He didn’t disappoint.

I have never heard that Joe and Katherine were divorced. I knew they were seperated and that he lives with his illegitimate daughter in Vegas. But I was shocked even when I read that because I had no idea him and Katherine had seperated so it’s no surprise they got divorced under the radar.
