When I think of the Jackson family, the word normalcy doesn’t come to mind. The Jacksons aren’t like you and me: most of us wouldn’t be able to function if our family member passed away under suspicious circumstances.
Here’s what the Jackson family did over the weekend while the body of their son and brother lay in a morgue:
Mama Katherine Jackson went shopping at target (doesn’t she have staff to do that?) It appears she stocked up on sleeping bags — most likely for Jackson’s adopted children who might be moving in with her permanently.
Papa Joe Jackson laughed it up with Jesse Jackson and friends outside the Encino, CA mansion where Michael and his siblings grew up.
And both Janet Jackson and Joe attended the BET Awards, where Joe made sure to promote his new record label while walking the red carpet (!)

IMO I think they knew this was going to happen, it was just a matter of time. Mike weighed 112 lbs.

I have lost both a brother and my mother prematurely and both times I reminisced with friends and family where laughter was involved. When my brother died at the tender age of 30 my friends asked how I could be with them laughing and I let them know that they know me better than anyone and they kept me sane. How dare you judge these people. If Katherine is shopping at Target then obviously she doesn’t have a staff. Maybe she needed to get away. To do something other than sit around and cry for her baby. Are you questioning their love for him?
Joe is a lunatic. He always has been, but you know what? I know he loves his children. He raised all 9 of them from birth to adulthood which is more than I can say for most black fathers. He has issues. He doesn’t appear to be a very nice man, but his older kids were damn near grown by the time they made it. Before then he struggled to keep food on the table and a roof over their heads. I’m not going to fault him for his foolish actions right now.
You forgot to add that Joe was on CNN pluging some company he has out. Smiling like the blanket Micheal had them under has now been lifted. Its as if he created this world and they all had to live under it. OR ELSE.
Katherine I give a pass to because she may have just needed to get out. To get away from everything.
Seriously Joe. When was the last time we’ve seen you out doing interviews. He came across very Ike Turner like to me.

As for Janet I was so appreciative of her thinking about us. They could have disregarded us, but the family decided that someone needed to reach out to the fans no matter how hard it was. We were his family too. It was clearly very difficult for her.
Your response to death may be to ball up in the fetal position in a corner somewhere and completely shut down, but personally I have NEVER seen anyone do that before. People make funeral arrangements, receive many many guests, go to the store, even make beer runs. There is nothing odd about any of this, other than crazy Joe, but that is nothing new.

Hello All. RIP Michael. Janet has always been in Michael’s corner. As for the rest, he was their meal ticket for sure. Crazy looking and acting Latoya will probably cash in on his death and raise Mike from the dead by saying SHE’s Michael. (Wouldn’t put nothin’ past this Jackson.) She looks so much like him now. They were such a beautiful young family, all of them. I loved their huge, natural afros. Such a tragedy. Peace.

yeah Janet i ave no prob with mind you, the jackson kids grew up in the spotlight so thier grieving is gonna be in the spotlight as well…janet said it best, to us he was a icon but to them he is family and he is gone, im glad she was there….Joe can sit down…katherine is trying….
I thought it was very interesting that Janet said the family voted her as the spokesperson for the night - just as I’m sure the voted for Jermaine on the day of. I truly appreciate this family and the respect they have for the fans. They don’t have to include us but the do.

I don’t think it’s strange and agree with most of the comments so far.
Life has to go on. And, I think the only people taken totally by surprise at his death are his fans. And … After reading how tormented Micheal was … it may have been a relief that he is at peace now.
We don’t know what they are thinking and/or feeling as a family unit. I appreciated Janet’s remarks as well.

Joe is a loon but I have never heard that there were problems betweem MJ and his mother or his baby sister Janet.

Granted, you may not grieve that way, but guess what? They do. We all are different. If Im not mistaken, they are a very religous family…thefore, they prob accept death as a part of life…which it is. Just because you grieve one way and someone else grieves another, doesnt make netiher right or wrong…
And people keep sensationalizing this relationship Joe and Michael had….they made up people….Joe has been at Michael’s side numerous times recently…I just read that the first family member they called was when Michael passed out was Joe….
@karaz.. I think they did and somehow think it was Joe’s idea.. I think he made the entire jackson family feel bad about who they were/how they looked.

I feel so sorry for Katherine. She reminds me of my mother, I wish I could give her the biggest hug. The grief in her face is undeniable. The family had to know that this day was coming, Katherine deep down always knew they were going to get her son. I don’t think it is strange for her to be shopping after such a horrific thing. In such grief we do things to allow our minds to process what has happened. Katherine probably accepted the death quickly. Her real mourning isn’t gone to begin until after the funerals, and tributes.
In addition she probably didn’t want to face going home, because at home the reality that Michael wasn’t ever going to call again would have been too real.
i read somewhere that it is thought that joe has his eyebrows and his mustache tatted on……

Can we remember that the Jacksons are Jehovah Witnesses adn they don’t grieve as we do. They do not believe in death. When my mother dies she was a Witness and her friends did not want us to have a funeral they had a meeting and read from their books, no one was really allowed to get up and speak but the head elder. So the Jacksons are doing what they believe is right. But Joe going and promoting and partying at the awards to me is still a disgrace.

you know, Katherine is the matriarch, always moving forward. She probably has so much to do in so little time to secure her son’s estate and the custody/safety of her grandkids. she probably cares more about her children/grandchildren than they do about each other. So, maybe she figures she has to step up and take care of things because no one else will do it right.
she sure is something for a woman her age. like, wow…go mama. and this is a woman who suffered and was physically affected by polio as a child. she doesn’t miss a beat. I just hope that when the time calls, someone will step-up to take as good of care of her as she’s done for everyone else all these years.

I have to agree with Bird. My brother was murdered at 13 months at his daycare and it was the hardest time in the world for my entire family more so my mother, myself and my grandmother. We all grieved in our way and there were times we laughed and times we needed to get away and did nothing more than went to a store and shopped ALONE… Katherine was probably clearing her own head and often shopping does that….
