Local News: Riverdale woman crushed by her Cadillac

A Riverdale woman is in serious condition in Grady hospital this morning after her Cadillac fell on her and dragged her the length of a football field down a busy Clayton County road.
The incident occurred on Wednesday afternoon when 20-year-old Dana Jones crawled under her car at a Shell station on Jonesboro Road.
Media reports say she was changing her tire at the time when the vintage Cadillac suddenly fell on her, crushing her. Witnesses say they heard Jones screaming for help as the Cadillac — with Jones pinned underneath it — slowly rolled down Hwy 138 toward a busy intersection.
Raquel Hernandez, 27, whose sister Letta Hernandez took these chilling pictures while Jones was still trapped under the car, told the Atlanta Journal she heard Jones screaming. Hernandez caught up with the car and put it in park before retrieving the car’s jack out of the trunk and attempting to lift the car off of Jones.
But lifting the car with the jack only caused Jones’ leg to become more entangled in the car’s chassis.
Letta Hernandez told the AJC she grabbed Jones’ 8-month-old baby out of the back seat along with jones’ cell phone which she used to call 911 and Jones’ sister. “She kept asking how her baby was doing,” said Hernandez.
When police and paramedics arrived, bystanders helped put the car up on 4x4s to stabilize it. Police blocked off the busy intersection so an air ambulance could land. Jones’s leg was freed from under the car and she was airlifted to Grady Memorial Hospital.

I goggled the name. A report said that she is fine and in stable condition. She has a broken rib, her leg is okay.

Sidenote but semi-related. My father was just involved in a car accident while on his way to my house. An SUV from the opposing traffic side, spun out of control went into the air, hit one car and landed on my father’s hood. It was Not his time to go, that car was seconds away from landing on the top of his car and crushing him underneath it…

no this isnt right, i use to have a car like that back in the day and she didnt crawl under the car to change a tire. i dont even think the jack for that car goes high enough for a person to crawl under it because it such a heavy big car. thats part is a lie. there is a reason why she is under the car , and they need to find out why. !!!

Maybe she dropped a lugnut, I think that’s what it’s called, and it rolled under the car. I tell you one thing, I admire her for changing her own tire because I am not getting out the car period! I have Hero, AAA and Roadside Rescue on speed dial. Someone WILL BE changing my tire or looking at my whip in the event it breaks down.

Well you gon’ on den gurl with ya bad self….I have to pay shyt off, I hate people hands in my pockets…I would rather spend my money on LIVING in luxury and worry about driving in luxury later. So my money is set on my house for now….my car is paid off, and I probably won’t buy another until I can buy it straight off the lot for about $10 – $15 grand. Im sorry but I just can’t do it folks.

About 10 yrs. ago I convinced myself that I would always have a car payment. Well if I quit selling my car or giving it away when I am done with it I wouldn’t have to have a car payment. I have had the same car for 6+yrs. It’s paid for and the body is rust free. It doesn’t run but it’s mine. LOL.
yea i used to think i’d drive my 1998 hyundai til the wheels fall off too..til i could never find parts for it in auto zone. i refuse to take my car to the dealership to pay overpriced mechanics..shooot lil jj down the street is just as good. now when i get my lex **eyeing the GS** i cant half step wit my baby! ill enjoy no car payments when i hit the lotto!
When I hit the lotto I’ll enjoy not having any mortgage payments and AGAIN I will buy a new car off the LOT and keep my money for investments…..that is after a couple of shopping sprees and trips LOL!

Some things are still a buyers market.( a house or car from a private owner). Dairy went down, meat went down. Gas once again is rising due to the cost of a barrel of oil. My daughter looked at a $250,000 house that is now reduced to $150K. Not sure why they chose to look at it being they are still in college. LOL. It’s ok to dream I guess. The taxes on the home was more than the mtg. pmt.
