Is anyone else tired of reading about this Beyonce/Kelly Clarkson story? If you’re like me, you don’t care if one wack song sounds like another wack song. Don’t they all sound the same nowadays anyway?
They’re saying Clive Davis is about to kick the American Idol winner to the curb for running her mouth off about her song, “Already Gone”, being recorded over the same track as Bey’s track “Halo.” It seems that Kelly is pissed at a songwriter for pawning off the same track on both singers. I’m thinking that maybe Kelly never head Beyonce’s “Halo” until she recorded over the track herself and then she said, “Hey, that lame Beyonce song sounds a lot like mine!”
Songwriter Ryan Tedder took to his Myspace blog yesterday to respond to the media gossip that Kelly threw him under the bus for basically reusing the same track and pawning it off on both singers.
Today he released an official statement denying he used the same track. He claimed that “Already Gone” — the track he co-wrote with Kelly, and “Halo,” the song he gave Bey, are two “entirely different songs conceptually, melodically, & lyrically.” He goes on to deny trying to rip off the two singers with the same corny track.
But Kelly begged to differ. Speaking on Canadian radio yesterday, Kelly complained bitterly about Ryan duping her, and about J Records releasing “Already Gone” as a single against her wishes once she realized it was the same wack track. Now word is, an angry Clive Davis retaliated by threatening to cut the budget for her new album. The last time Kelly butt heads with Davis, sales of her last CD My December suffered big time.
So what’s poor Kelly to do? Well, there’s always iTunes and ringtones.
