Here I was defending newcomer and star of ‘Precious’ Gabby Sidibe from heartless readers who mocked her personal style — and then she does this? Everything is wrong with these pics. The dress, the lacefront, the fish oil makeup — all wrong! How does this happen to a woman who is so sweet? Obviously her stylist (if she has one) has it in for her.

Sandra, is obvious that she is Big Boned and will sweat more under heat. She is not used to fame or being out in the public either so please bloggers need to cut her some slack. The poor girl is trying…yes that WIG might be from the 50’s or probably her mum’s closet but she is not Paris hilton that can afford a stylist…I honestly feel sorry for this girl..she seems sweet

Now as of this look Gabby is sporting. I think it is awful. Sweet girl, but I must go in. This dress does nothing for her at all. Stylist or not ….there are mirrors. God bless her for having confidence in wearing some of these dresses.
The red dress she was first seen in for the premieres was a very good look for her. Keep them arms covered and the face less greasy and you will be fine!

It could be a combination od the lights and the wig. I’ve worn a wig once and it did make me sweat but it could have been because my was a cheaper one.

She’s a big girl that just got thrusted into Hollywood. I’m skinny and would probably be sweating because I’m nervous. Now add 200 lbs, a wig/weave, (shrugs shoulders)a tight gown, and 50 cameras. Good luck to her. Hopefully she loses some weight. Oprah is rich and can’t seem to keep the weight off!

She just needs to get a new stylist and they need to dress her accordingly, being that she is a big girl and all.
Some women are ok being a little heavier than others and I have seen some sisters that wear the weight well. Gabby is young but at some point she will probably start working on slimming down a bit. (I am not going in on anybody thats a little larger..so please do not blast me fam).
She really could stand to lose a little weight!! It just doesn’t “look” healthy. And someone did try to coordinate the makeup colors with the dress, so that’s a plus for effort. A kind heart & nice personality trumps everything else (physically, IMO), but she still should lose some weight for health reasons.
There’s no such thing as being “big-boned”. Overweight and obese people have the same bone mass/size as other people…..I saw it on the Discovery Channel

That dress is a beautiful color. Wow, she needs to drop some poundage she’s a beautiful woman though. But her health concerns me and I can’t say anything about somebody sweating, if I breathe hard I sweat and I’m skinny, it’s a genetic thing for some people.

From the interviews I’ve seen she seems like a sensible, sweet, lady.
But I’d be lying if I said she isn’t hard to look at. Even 50 lbs would help. And some industrial spanx, and… sleeves. Bless her heart.

Precious will probably be her last movie because she has a lot going against her she’s obese, she’s African-American not only that but a dark-skinned African-American (and we are very low on Hollywood’s totem pole), and oh yeah again she’s fat. Hollywood is too image conscious for her. I’m sure she’s a nice person though or at least I hope she is. Because if she’s a ****, she has no room to be one (no pun intended)

I don’t care Tyler Perry has Cora in his movies and plays and she never looks like this. She is representing herself and the movie and Monique should know how to give this girl a hand. No such thing as big bone. Example Oprah and Star Jones. Big then small then big again. Now, there are body types that carry weight differently Beyonce carries her weight on her lower body and it looks good. Curvy women who carry weight on their lower body (thighs, hips and butt) can carry a few more extra pounds than women who carry weight on their upper body i.e. neck, back, arms, stomach ect. And it still looks good. Unfortunately, many of the curvy women are 200plus and that size is generally too big for any woman unless she’s over 6 ft.

I also had the same opinion, however, I saw her in an interview on the today show. Her personality is so beautiful that to a certain extent you overlook her appearance. If you closed your eyes and just listened, you would think that she’s a well spoken white girl.
I am obese. But I am working on it for real. When my nutritionist told me that my azz measured 52 inches, I went into shock. Now I know that 52 inches is perfect to a ho or video vixen, but to me that is fat.

I like Gabby. I saw her on Mo’Nique last night along with other cast and crew, and she’s such a sweet lady, very intelligent, and seems very down-to-earth, and she looked she looked great.
As far as the weight is concerned, I’m sure she knows she needs to lose the weight, and maybe she’s working on it now. No shade from me.

@Missy True story about Sylvia Liken (sp?)Her parents left her and her sister with a woman from church (a mentally unstable woman) who had kids their age. This woman tortured and killed Sylvia. The reason it was such a newsworthy story was because her children and their friends participated in the abuse and none of them said that she kept that girl in her basement, and that includes her own sister.

As for Gabby – she’s new and needs a stylist. I’ve seen questionable outfits AND makeup on some more known – and skinnier – industry folks and they are no better with it just because they can hula-hoop w/ a Cheerio.
She was AWESOME in Precious and yes there is abuse in it – but she gets redemption in the end, so ya’ll please go see it and support.

It’s exhausting thinking about why people in the world are so evil and sick and twisted.
Gabby needs a stylist, yes but “Hollywood” doesn’t have a lot of stylist capable of properly styling plus sized people and finding designers that carry her size will be a problem as well. Especially high end designers. I think that as time goes on and she becomes accustomed to Hollywood and she gets a great team (PR, stylist, etc.) with her she will be just fine. Also she needs a great makeup artist she seems like “regular” makeup was used on her and I think she needs a heavier makeup for the lights and heat from the flashing bulbs….

& in regards to her losing weight, if she’s comfortable with what weight she is and is most importantly HEALTHY, she just needs to learn how to better dress herself for the size she is. Now, if there are health problems…she needs to fix that.

I’m not on here to talk about folks but I just want to say that she need to get that sweating thing checked out. I’m concerned about her health, it’s not cool. Have yall seen Dr. Oz? He spoke about sweating and all that stuff. Maybe she should get at him.
I think Gabby is a beautiful young lady and seems as though she has a very sweet spirit…I hope people don’t actually think just because they are saying mean things about her that her life is going to crumble she has probably heard it all but in the end God will take that same “fat, ugly, too dark to be on TV, what did she have on person” and turn them into something great…(Biggie,black and ugly as ever however)I wish nothing but the best for Gabby and I hope she is a beacon of light for other little girls that want to pursue acting but feel they are too dark or too fat to do so and only see the images of video models with big azz. Gabby might not know it yet but she is an inspiration to someone.

I’ve been told that I’m morbid & perhaps I am cause I LOVED Eve’s Bayou, Beloved, Bastard Out of Carolina & Precious! I never heard of An american Crime… but I just put it in my netflix queue. I recently saw a movie called the The Gray Man which is based on true story. Its disturbing as well; about a man who kidnapps & little girl (although, her family let her go willingly – to be fair) & kills her.

i agree about this dress – her ams need to be covered more. i am fat too and i never wear anything sleeveless or cap sleeved unless i have a jacket or something over it. also the dress should be just a bit more loose. it’s not good when us fatties wear fitted clothing.

Ppl started treating Monica, Tiny and Toya differently when we had a live chat in here. Maybe Sandra should put the breaks on the Atlanta women and extend a olive branch to Gabby. Gabby says that she does not like urban blogs because we say mean things about her, why not clear up some myths and join us. I am sure Sandra would give her a special “open registration”.

I was talkin’ about Gabby S. She’s new to this. She wasn’t an aspiring actress (from what I’ve heard). Unlike Bey who dreamt of it ever since she was in the womb and watched Sparkle/Dreamgirls/read the the Diana Ross handbook of how to keep ALL the shine & make yo fellow band mates fall on the their face (literally) – from front to back. As Gabby puts her team together her image will improve. she gon mess around & be the Oprah on yall.
