NY Chef Serves Cheese Made From Breast Milk
Yuck. A NYC chef caused a stir in NYC today after he blogged about converting his wife’s breast milk into cheese.
Chef Daniel Angerer, owner of Klee Brasserie restaurant in Chelsea, serves diners his wife’s breast milk in cheese appetizers — and they love it. “The phone was ringing off the hook,” the chef said. “So I prepared a little canapé of breast-milk cheese with figs and Hungarian pepper.”
“It tastes like cow’s-milk cheese, kind of sweet,” he told The NY Post.
The flavor depends on what the cheese is served with — Angerer recommends a Riesling — and “what the mother eats,” said Angerer, who once bested Bobby Flay on TV’s “Iron Chef.”
Breast milk doesn’t curdle well due to its low protein content, so a little moo juice has to be added to round out the texture, Angerer said.
At least he’s honest about what he’s putting in his cheese. You don’t know what “extra” ingredients are being slipped into your food when you eat out.
After the NY Post brought the natural dairy cheese to the attention of the NY public health board, Angerer was told to refrain from serving any more human breast milk cheese to his diners — even though there’s no ordinance against it.
“The restaurant knows that cheese made from breast milk is not for public consumption, whether sold or given away,” a spokeswoman for the city Department of Health said.

Not that i’d drink anyone elses breast milk. But to all those saying yuck, think of this. Babies drink it, so its not “nasty”. And it makes them very very healthy. Also, the fact that ppl think it’s “good” to drink a dirty cow’s milk, who has been roaming outside all day, being fed God knows what, while pissing and pooping on themselves. Then the milk is sent to a refrigeration tank—-may or may no be clean—then pumped into milk trucks—-may or may not be clean—-which is then shipped off to be “processed”. Hmmm breast milk don’t sound so terrible to me.

Anna, my point is that it is milk. He didn’t make it from feces, or urine, or vomit. It’s not bodily waste. He didn’t invite people to come suck it straight out of his wife’s breasts, he made cheese with it… not a big deal to me.
The point of my #14 reply was that people will swallow semen, vajayjay juice or even “toss a salad”, but see using human milk to make cheese as disgusting.

Oh yea? not healthy? Hmm interesting. My daughter was premature. Even when she was in the hospital i pumped the milk out and fed it to her. Within a couple weeks she doubled her birth weight. In the 2 yrs she was breastfed, she hardly ever got sick. And when she did it lasted all of a day. It also makes them smart. At 4 yrs old, she knows how to dial my phone number and my moms. Recite the alphabets all her numbers, can write and spell her name and also several others, including mine. Can also log into a computer (using a password) and navigate to her favorite website (nick jr). So Breastmilk > than formula ANY day of the week.
oh and may I add for the first 4-5 months of my daughters life she was EXCLUSIVELY fed breastmilk. Didnt start on jar food and cereals until she was older. This child is healthy as a horse.

Breastfed babies can get vitamin D drops, mine did and not one of my FOUR that I BREASTFED have a soft head or any sort of vitamin deficiencies.
Rickets is not only from a vitamin D deficiency but also from a calcium and/or phosphate deficiencies.
Moderate exposure to sunlight is also a good source of Vitamin D as well as some fish. Also, not everything companies CLAIM they do in order the ensure cleanliness and sterilization actually gets done or to the degree that they claim. That’s part of the reason there’s always so e-coli or salmonella outbreak.

That’s because while you were sleeping, the nurses were feeding that baby formula from a bottle with vitamins and nutrients that breast milk doesn’t have, The nurses just don’t tell you that.

That’s exactly what it is, good parenting w/out limits, I breastfed my kids but my son still isn’t the sharpest knife in the drawer, they do get less sick and of couse less ear aches due to absense of a bottle.

Breast milk is not nasty… however there’s a reason women only produce milk after birth. It’s nourishment for the baby. As far as cows producing milk for human consumption, well they’re here to feed/clothe us (PETA in the wise words of Tiny the hood queen- eat a dyck), so its now acceptable. I eat chittlins’ It’s just our culture that makes us grossed out by things, there is no right or wrong reasoning, it’s a choice. I commend women who express their milk to donate to the NICU for the struggling newborns.

Breastmilk is being sold as the perfect food for babies when in reality RICKETS is on the comeback trail because of it. Look it up. Health care providers are not being honest with new mothers and even going as far as making new moms feel inadequate if they cant or wont breastfeed.

I dip. skype is a video chat. It must be hard for you to hear that your hubby hates his new J O B, especially since he is in charge of soilders. I have a GF who deprograms them when they come back to the States. She does love her J O B and reuniting them with their loved ones.
