A Houston teacher has been fired from her position at a school for special education students after she was caught on video viciously beating a 13-year-old student.
Sherri Davis, 40, was terminated after school officials viewed the cell phone video of the assault which took place at Jamie’s House Charter School in Houston.
The boy, who has a history of disciplinary problems, had allegedly punched a female student in the class. Other teachers stood by and watched while Davis dished out punishment to the teenager by slapping, punching, kicking and slamming his head against a wall.
But there’s a fine line between discipline and an all out assault, and this teacher should have known better.
While I understand the pressures teachers endure everyday with children, especially children with behavioral problems, this is crazy. She snapped. If it gets to this point, it’s time to hang in up and go into another professional. This is uncalled for and I’m sure that child’s parents are going to sue.

One of my classmates was a former teacher and he was fired in DC because he “touched” a student after they swung on him twice and missed. He said the third swing he caught the students arm and the student said you are in trouble now cause you touched me and sure enough he said he was fired the same day cause the policy is you can’t touch students. He worked at a private school go figure

What kind of teacher was/is she? A Teachers Aide a Classroom Teacher for the day? She looks nothing like a teacher with her (backing him into a corner)wrestling moves.
Behavorial issues or not, there is nothing a child can possibly do to warrant this type of treatment. Honestly, there isn’t any logical explanation for this type of behavior from a special needs teacher. This is beyond ridiculous!!!

That’s crazy. Some people shouldn’t be teachers. Are you sure she’s a teacher because she was dressed so unproffessional, like a student (jeans, t-shirt, pants hanging almost on the ground). On the other hand I bet he won’t be a discipline problem for no other teacher in the future.

teaching as a profession isn’t for everybody. im not saying she’s right or wrong, considering we didn’t see everything that lead up to his ass whoopin. you’ve got to have patience and tolerance like no other when teaching because ur dealing with the students, and the parents. I have many friends that teach and all say the parents are worse than the kids.

Teachers are the most underpaid group of people next to police officers and military personnel (as far as I’m concerned). Teachers have to put up with parents who send their children to school ill prepared for learning. Parents who show absolutely no interest in their children. Parents who don’t assist with homework. Parents that don’t show up for the parent/teacher conferences or PTA meetings, etc. But let those same kids say the teacher put their hands on them and the parents are ready to come up to the school acting a damn fool, trying to fight someone. It’s ridiculous!
If this child has behavorial issues before, why wasn’t he moved to someone’s class you was better equipped to deal with him? Why were other adults just standing there watching the teacher get in that butt? Who watching the other teachers’ class while they are witnessing this tomfoolery? Soooo many questions?
@yvonne yep he grabbed her wrist/arm on her third swing and that’s all she wrote. I guess private schools have their own rules and that was one of them no touching a student period. I know in high school they changed the rule that even if you were defending yourself both students wld be suspended for fighting even if you had a witness prove that Pookie hit you 2-3x before u finally hit them back. They had zero tolerance when it came to fighting which wasn’t fair to me.
I agree about some parents being as bad as their kids at times sadly.

I reviewed it again. It may have gone to far from a parent perspective. But I don’t get from the video that she intended anything more than to humorsly dish out a lesson on Boy’s hitting Girls. That would prob answer why other teachers didn’t intervien. It does not look like a beat down

I definitely don’t think she should have hit him that’s why I said that it was crazy but being a teacher isn’t a joke these days with so many kids that have issues and he allegedly punched a girl in the face. I’m not even sure I believe the video is of the teacher because she is dressed like a teenager and she’s supposed to be 40. This video needs more people. Hello All. I’m with Daisy! Another shout out to teachers, social workers, police officers, fireman and all other social service jobs! Many of our children act like heathens and are off the chain. Someone needs to reel ’em in. When I was in the 2nd grade, ions ago, my mean-ass teacher used a thick paddle to hit us with in our palms. If you snatch yo hand back, you got another lick. Well, I got ONE lick and childddddddddddd, it lasted me til I was a senior in high school. Didn’t EVER give any other teacher a problem. And if I remember correctly, I got it again when I got home. My Momma, God rest her soul, didn’t play that crap. She had 5 children to raise and a mean husband to deal with, and you act up in school, yo ass was hers! That is all. Peaceeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee.

I’m not a teacher but always wanted to be. Now I’m scared because these kids have lost their mind. We are all teachers though. Parents need to start being teachers and examples towards their kids. I saw a few articles (googled this incident) and the girls who taped this video said that her sister was teaching another girl some dance moves and the boy got up mocking the moves dancing with them. She said the teacher came in the room and said, “You wanna hit on girls” and went to town on him. The other kids said they didn’t know what she was talking about because he hadn’t hit anyone and thought she was joking at first until she starting fvcking him up. So who’s telling the truth? Even the yt superintendent and principle said that he didn’t hit anyone on tv.
She looks like she could be best friends with Snoop from The Wire and is a damn teacher. Don’t excuse this shyt.

You are right, if parents don’t start taking control of their kids you really don’t want the cops to do your job. They are over worked and underpaid.

These kids have been off the hook for some time now. I know someone who was a hall monitor. These kids would argue and you can’t hit them but you can say things to them. Some kids turned into “stalkers” and knew where this person lived. This person had to put retraining orders on some of them. It’s ok this person got the last laugh, and turned in to a police officer and worked in the same schools with the bad azz kids had to take to court.
The key word here is PARENT. I’m with PAHairston. Back in the day, kids were paddled in the principal’s office. Schools didn’t take any mess out of kids, and we dare not act up in school because we all knew once we got home there was going to be hell to pay; however, the way this teacher was fighting this child was dead wrong. If you can’t deal with bad kids, don’t become a teacher. Many parents are really failing their children.
This woman needs to go straight to jail. No sympathy. This is not her child and beating him the way she did was just wrong. Okay, if he hit a girl…send his ass to the office and contact his mother. She has NO right as an adult to treat someone elses child like this. She is just pure trash.

In my day teachers would paddle kids right in the room, no need to send them to the principal’s office. I knew long ago that I did not want to be paddled in front of my peers. I saw many kids get paddled and I did not go to Catholic School.

Some of these kids behavioral problems don’t have real behavioral problems, some of them just needed discipline and structure in their home/family lives from a young age.
I feel sorry for most teachers these days because they’re the ones forced to deal with these demonic children, while trying to teach the other normal kids for how many hours in a day… psssh couldn’t be me! I’d demand (and use) a stun gun in the classroom if I were a teacher.

I got a spanking/paddling the 1st day of school cause I told the teacher I didnt have to stand where she told me to in line. My elementary school was right across the street from my gmas house so she beat me again once I came home with a note from the teacher saying what happened
I never hit a teacher or thought about doing such but I was the type to speak my mind and tell them to call my mama and would ask if they needed me to dial

Y’all probably all gone by now but I just read all the comments and I went to a school where they could pop you on the butt or hand with a ruler if you got out of line and I agree that a lot of these kids today are like walking demons but there’s a difference between discipline and beating. I can’t see the video but from the way y’all are describing it that sounds like she beat him like he was a regular dude off the street and that’s just not right. I won’t beat my own kids like that. I also agree that a lot of parents are letting tv, society and the streets raise their kids and not teaching them to respect other kids, adults, authority or themselves and the parents are also setting bad examples by letting their children see them act a fool but still she took it too far and those teachers standing around should’ve intervened from the beginning. @Redeemed777 preach! My mom is a principal and so many parents come to the school cutting up worse than the students. She’s had to call the police on one mother for trying to jump on a student. Two students have falsely accused a coach of molesting them. SMH. My mom has to play counselor to the parents and the students most days. Anyways, teachers really deserve medals for the nonsense that they put up with on a daily basis. They’re underpaid and unappreciated in most school districts. I’m not saying there aren’t any bad teachers because there are and you find that in any profession but most teachers are hardworking, compassionate people who do their job because they love making a difference in a child’s life.

unfortunately, she has lost her job and will probably go to jail for it, ruining her teaching career. she was wrong; it was not her place but we can’t review this angel’s disciplinary history because it’s private. some of these teachers lose their jobs just for defending themselves. i thank God for the few teachers we have left because i could never be one.

Well I am a teacher so I feel free to comment. Until one walks in a teachers shoes, please reserve your comment. Teachers are human and when they hand out certifications they don’t give super powers with them. Teachers get very little respect from kids and even less from parents. No one knows how many times that kid was reported to administration and nothing was done about it. Teachers don’t have the support they should. I have a student that I am fighting to have removed from my class. He said he hates me and wishes I was dead. What happens when he decides to make his wish come true? Why should I have to fight to have him removed? I’ve said I don’t feel safe that should be enough. But it’s not. People don’t see that side of teaching. People think, “oh, they are kids.” Well they forget that they are kids and try to get in a teacher’s face as an adult, but when they are treated like the adult they are acting like, teachers are wrong.
