Tyler Responds To ‘Boondocks’ Episode… Kinda
Celebrity blogger ATLien sat down with Teh Ghey actor/playwright Tyler Perry at the Essence Music Festival this past weekend. And while she didn’t ask him any pressing questions (such as why he refuses to kick open that closet door), she did ask him about the controversial ‘Boondocks’ episode starring a hilarious gay caricature of him!
Just like the Spike Lee situation, I feel that “no response” is the best response. I’m just gonna leave it at that…
But I will tell you this… there is absolutely no truth to the rumor that I’m suing The Boondocks. Those are all lies. I’m not suing anybody over that.

I wish I would have been there while Tyler was being interviewed. I would have yelled “PAUSE!” every time he opened his mouth! PAUSE TYLER! 
By the way, I had no clue that Regina King was the voice of both Huey and Riley on the Boondocks. She’s so multifaceted in addition to being sexy!

Why don’t people leave Tyler alone and let him do him. He’s making the money he needs to make and is giving his core audience what they want. If he’s gay, so be it. I don’t care about what he or anyone else does in their bedroom. Sheesh!

No, Sandra – quit the opposite. Morals and ethics means a tremendous about to me, but I’m not in a position to set someone else’s morals or standards. Also, my standards are very high when it comes to men I’M with, but as far as Tyler’s sexual preference and his “obligation” of making it known, I don’t believe it’s anyone’s business. I’ve never seen pictures of him having sex with men, so it’s only speculation. Whether he’s gay or not, I’m not going to be with him. If he’s gay or if he lied, that’s between him and his Maker.

I watch the Boondocks. That episode didn’t make me want to watch it anymore because he called himself “putting Mr. Perry on blast.” I support both men doing thier best to stay successful. I think it was a tad bit low for McGruder (sp) to take tht route but it’s entertainment.

Lmao @ Sandra’s comment. But anyways I believe that hen a person is in the spotlight the should either keep quiet about their sexuality or come out of the closet. Don’t go on a daytime television show pretending to be something your not! In my opinion that’s part of the reason young black men have a hard time coming out. They see an obviously gay man claiming to be straight and they assume that it’s something to keep quiet. I hate when people lie about themselves especially when most of the people know the truth.
Just because u are in the spotlight doesn’t mean every aspect of your life should be under scrunity.

I like both Spike and Tyler and was a little disappointed when Spike felt the need to come for Tyler and now Aaron. Glad Tyler took the high road and had no comment. I don’t watch the boondocks and didnt see this ep. As much as I want Tylers movies/scripts/cast to improve he has a fan base and is a self made man who came from nothing so for that I can’t knock him.

@Jazi…yeah she was approached to be on the show and said she did it because of how much her son loves the show. I think its cool when they have celebrities on children’s show (like on Sesame Street). It makes it even better for the parent and the child!

@therapist1911 that is soooo true but if you look at it this way. every celebrity should know what theyre getting into by becoming famous and well known around the world. they should know that there are going to be millions of fans all around the world thats going to want to know all about them. and um, sexuality has something to do with that. your fans are going to want to know what is your sexual preference, what ur favorite food is, what size shoe you are…etc. but in this case if you feel your favorite celebrity has something to hide or you think theyre lying about some part of their life youre going to want to look into it more.
and i think a part of tyler perry KNOWS that its wrong for him to be repsresenting christ and talking about God but yet is homosexual. so he knows that theres a line and hes DEFINITELY not tryin to cross it.

Well Sandra, I don’t think he is lying about his sexuality. Not telling the world you are gay is NOT lying. Some people don’t feel comfortable disclosing their sexuality for whatever reason they might have and that is fine. Maybe at the time on Oprah he wasn’t lying about looking for a good woman…maybe he really was. No one knows what he is going through with that aspect of his life. People struggle with homosexuality all the time and they do many things to try to “get over it” like dating women etc. Now what is morally or ethically wrong is when a man is dating a women and not telling her he messes with men and vice-versa. Sexual orientation is something that people should be able to choose to disclose or not to disclose without people being judgemental about it. If he is gay and he don’t want y’all to know about it, there is nothing wrong with that

Take the higher ground and not address them haters at all. If he’s gay, so friggin what. George Michael preached about how he loved women, etc., etc., and later professed that he was gay and no one hated him for that. It’s his perogative.

What difference does it make if he comes out the closet or what? Why do people ALWAYS focus on people’s sexuality. I don’t go around blasting to everyone I meet that I am heterosexual, so why would someone that is homosexual have to speak on their sexuality. It is their sexuality! I don’t think anyone can speak on if someone is gay or not just becuase they assume from their mannerism that they are gay. People use to think I was alot of things because of my mannerism, but it couldn’t be further from the truth. Thank Jesus that you are not like man and you look at my heart and not at what the world sees. If you aren’t God, then why are you judging?
