According to Hot Air, a dissenter at Barack Obama’s Town Hall meeting yesterday dissed Obama in a room full of Kool aid drinkers and she wasn’t booed or tackled to the floor and dragged out of the room!

The woman, who identified herself as a wife, a mother, and the Chief Financial Officer of a veteran’s service organization, told Obama that she’s tired of defending him and his administration.

As she talked, Obama squirmed and shifted in his seat. It was an amazing display of audacity not normally seen at an Obama Town Hall meeting where attendees are usually hand picked in advance from Kool aid drinkers who are passionately loyal to Obama.

Times have changed.

Here’s an excerpt of what she said to Obama:

“I’m an American veteran, and I’m one of your middle class Americans. And quite frankly, I’m exhausted. Exhausted of defending you, defending your administration, defending the mantle of change that I voted for. And deeply disappointed with where we are right now.

I have been told that I voted for a man who said that he was going to change things in a meaningful way for the middle class. I’m one of those people and I’m waiting, sir. I’m waiting. I don’t feel it yet. And I thought, while it wouldn’t be in great measure, I would feel it in some small measure.

I have 2 children in private school, and the financial recession has taken an enormous toll on my family.

“My husband and I have joked for years that we thought we were well beyond the hot dogs and beans era of our lives, but, quite frankly, it’s starting to knock on our door and ring true that that might be where we’re headed again, and, quite frankly, Mr. President, I need you to answer this honestly. Is this my new reality?

He didn’t dodge the question there simply isn’t an answer he could give to resolve her complaints. She has a husband, two kids that she can AFFORD to send to private school, a TWO income household she is doing better than most! More than likely her struggles have NOTHING to do with the election of Obama and probably EVERYTHING to do with her family’s spending habits. I’m struggling hard yet I’m not blaming the President. The recession began before him, it probably won’t be over until after his term is complete. The financial problems in this country began 9 years ago. Clinton left Bush with little to no national debt. Bush ran this country into the ground financially and it took 8 years for it to crash why in the hell would it recover in less than 2. People are living in a dreamland. Wake up and stop complaining. Shyt if anybody has cause to complain its me yet I got off my ass and am doing what I need to do to see change in my own life, I’m not blaming a politician who doesn’t know anything about me. This country has turned into a bunch of spineless losers who rather cry then do something. This man can do NOTHING without congress, our current congress is sorry and can’t agree on anything, so its not HIS fault. When I see the President I see a man with great ideas who unfortunately can’t see those ideas to fruition because he has yet to have enough time and because things were so messy prior to his election that he has to play fix it man before he can even put an idea in motion. Broads like this need to shutup, thank GOD for the blessings they do have and be happy with what they have in light of the countrys current predicament. And if that still doesn’t make her happy then she needs to shutup and do something about HER problems cause the President can’t help her. Unless she thought he’d pull out his checkbook and write her a check to cover her bills so she can save her own money for a rainy day and some shopping. She’s complaining about what may happen, when she has the power to keep it from happening and people have the nerve to cosign that ish? Wth. I can’t stand a grown ass person crying all damn day and pointing fingers

Times are definitely hard but the main ones complaining are the ones who’ve yet to see a real struggle. Complaining about eating hot dogs while you got kids in private school? GTFOH with that shit. Talk to me when you got kids in public school and can’t afford the hot dogs.

  • peanutbuttercup

This woman was eloquent in presenting her question/concerns. I didn’t vote for Obama, cause I knew it was all hot air just to get elected. While he was focusing on that d*mn healthcare bill (which could have waited and I might add has done nothing for the public thus far and it’s already Sept.), he should have been focusing on building this country, community by community. What has he been successful in? Nothing! And please don’t repeat that BS he spilled over to this woman. THIS woman is a CFO and people are complaining that she has two children in private school? I’m sure she’s earned the right to have 3 children in private school, but at the rate this country is going, she can’t afford it because of BS bureaucracy and the greed of corporate crooks. He bailed them out ASAP, but left the Americans gathering crumbs.

I agree, Choco. The woman’s name is Velma R. Hart. You can google her and find that she has since been on other news shows since this display. I wouldnt mind spending my money on something I really want. But I would have to need it as well. Like some people I noticed would spend all their money on name brand shoes and clothes they cant afford because a celebrity is doing it, but they cannot afford to pay their rent and bills the following week after that. What has Obama done…
    let’s see…
    ended combat mission in Iraq
gave a tax credit for first time home buyers
tax breaks for environmentally sounds purchases ie solar panels on your home
daggone near universal healthcare – Pres. Carter had a health care bill in the works in 1976!! Clinton presented a comprehensive health care plan in 1994. In less than 2 years Obama has completed something that has been in the works longer than my lifetime!
signed an arms control treaty with USSR (our relationship was getting frostier every day!)

He’s not perfect, but he getting things done much faster than most would have given him credit for. I believe there will be missteps along the way, but I do think in the end we will be better for the struggles of today.

Peanutbuttercup.. sure she has earned the right to have 3 kids in private school IF she can afford it but if she can’t then don’t complain about it do something. If private school is that important to her but is that much of a financial burden then she can find a job that pays more or get a second one like so many in this country are forced to do each day just to make ends meet let alone send children to private school when there are many many good even great public schools available that will provide an excellent education minus the various social accolades that come with sending your kids to certain overpriced private institutions. Private school is a want not a need and therefore its insensitive, tacky and pointless to complain about not being able to meet ends meet while you can afford to pay for private school in a public forum designed to tackle real issues. Healthcare reform may not be a real issue to you but you should be on your knees thanking God that its not because to miilions in this country including myself, healthcare reform is major. Its a choice between paying for rxs that are needed and putting food on the table or paying rent and seeing a dr for more than just an annual checkup. And yes, changes have been made already BUT for more change Congress needs to pass a bill that will adequately reflect the needs of the people vs the wants of the iinsurance, prescription and healthcare beaurocracies (yes I spelled that wrong)… again NOT the Presidents fault, he didn’t vote those worthless rejects and corporate pawns into office. Thank God you can type that healthcare reform wasn’t needed, be happy its not needed in your life but don’t discount and disregard the miilions of us who do NEED it! People got used to living above their means which I can attest to was great while it lasted but now when times are tough too many are crying, ready to give up over having to make the smallest sacrifices when there are people in this country who work just as hard as you, who lost their job due to no fault of their own or who just can no longer afford to make ends meet who are literally living in poverty, homeless, starving and worse yet are working to do better whiile those who are doing better want to complain about their hard times cause they can no longer do or have everything they want (key word is WANT) when in actuality having all that you want is the main thing that got us into this mess in the first place. Where were all these people when Bush was getting us into this mess? If McCain had won do you think he would’ve done better? He couldn’t even pick a decent VP. He would’ve been the biggest pawn of them all. Hilary would’ve continued promoting her own agenda and found herself with the same deadlocked worthless Congress as Obama has. Neither could’ve done any different but I bet both would’ve been met with less hostility and resistance. Change can’t be made by 1 person. If you have a home you can pay for whether you’re paying rent or mortgage, a job, at least one working car, can pay your bills and provide food and clothes for your family then consider yourself blessed and don’t complain about not being able to have the things you want cause you have all that you need.

Yeah I’m definitely not going off brand with certain products. There’s a big difference in quality and taste for some things.

The recession started in 2007, I think Obama first came to office in 2009, correct me if I am wrong.

Also I am exhausted that if I am paying something late once, that my credit score goes down and takes forever to go back up and that late payments & delinquencies stay on your credit for 7 – 10 years, also I am exhausted that Hard Inquiries stay on your credit report 2 years and can damage my credit score. Especially when creditors make money of the late payments so why should I be punished twice? Either report me to the credit bureau or take my late fees but doing both is not fair.

Also I don’t understand why I am not stinky wealthy rich, I work, I pay taxes and I save money. Whats the problem?

To me Obama is all talk. I know change doesnt happen overnight, But really what has he done. Of course I dont everything to be easy but show something. People also need to realize when these elections are going on they are going to say things in order to win.

    THEN Secret says:

Look Obama is just a puppet in the governments game. They control the strings. They will allow him to do certain things, but they will not let him do all.

QUESTION IS: Whose fault is it? In one post you said he hasn’t done anything. In the next you said he’s a puppet in the government’s game! Can you say….contradiction? :coffee:

Ms Everything, interesting observation regarding Hillary Clinton. I often wonder if she would have been able to get a better healthcare bill simply because she’s so hard-nosed. I think she would have initially TRIED to work with the Repubs like Barack did, but when they started backstabbing like they did, I think she would have steam-rolled over them and with the Dems pushed through a bill with a public option. I think there would have possibly been more back door deals and steamrolling behind the scenes and it might have been uglier, but I think in the end she would have simply played the b-tch role and gotten some kind of public option done. I love Barack and support him, but I hate the way the Repubs screwed healthcare and then STILL didn’t vote for it when it had THEIR stuff in it.

    @ allwrightyden

No its not a contradiction. I said he hasnt done anything. And that he is a puppet in the governments game. What part didnt u get? You know very well they will not give him full reigns on anything.

Lourie, you make a good point in regards to Hilary although I don’t think the repubs would have given her as much of a problem as they’re doing with Obama. I agree that she would’ve gotten it done in the long run but at the same time I see her rejecting anything that isn’t according to her ideas or agenda. I’ve never been a huge Hilary fan and had Obama not won the primary and McCain not picked Palin, I would’ve voted McCain over Hilary. Thank God Obama won lol

    To: Ms. Everything

Sorry, If I didn’t make myself clear. I didn’t mean attention to healthcare isn’t needed, because it is. But in terms of prioritization, we could have waited and Obama should have focused on issues that need immediate attention, like the downturn of the economy and investing in small businesses. And let’s not forget, investing in incentives to get America back working. F Cash for Clunkers, how about “Cash for Jobs”. Obama is the CEO of our country and I wanna see progression.

Sandra really hates Obama…LOL …WOW…

My former employer, a Medicare insurance company, wanted to increase their profits because of imminent decreases in their Medicare reimbursements (health care reform bill). So, they laid off my department a few months ago. By God’s grace, I am not struggling financially, have a roof on my head, and DON’T eat hot dogs and beans by force (only when I want to – yummy). My daughter also attends private school (scholarship).

So why blame Obama when God has the final say?

a.. The U.S. Post Service was established in 1775. You have had 234 years to get it right and it is broke.
b.. Social Security was established in 1935. You have had 74 years to get it right and it is broke.
c.. Fannie Mae was established in 1938. You have had 71 years to get it right and it is broke.
d.. War on Poverty started in 1964. You have had 45 years to get it right; $1 trillion of our money is confiscated each year and transferred to “the poor” and they only want more.
e.. Medicare and Medicaid were established in 1965. You have had 44 years to get it right and they are broke.
f.. Freddie Mac was established in 1970. You have had 39 years to get it right and it is broke.
g.. The Department of Energy was created in 1977 to lessen our dependence on foreign oil. It has ballooned to 16,000 employees with a budget of $24 billion a year and we import more oil than ever before. You had 32 years to get it right and it is an abysmal failure.

Everything is NOT President Obama’s fault
Everyone has to make lifestyles adjustments and she is no different
How soon do we forget the inflated gas prices…why hasn’t Bin Laden released any tapes like he did so frequently when Bush was in office….Bush vacationed and no on said anything…..Most people voted for change…but realistically how fast can change take place…..I voted for Obama and cant wait to do it again

Even though IMO, Obama’s performance(policy wise) has been disappointing, I still think people expect him to say abracadabra and change things that are really beyond his control. The government(obviously) doesn’t control the economy. They can do things to stimulate it but that’s something that’s really going to have to fix itself.
