Another Dumb Rapper Gets Himself Arrested: Wiz Khalifa

Yesterday, I had no clue who rapper Wiz Khalifa was until he came through my city and performed live at Masquerade on saturday.

That’s when I asked celebrity photographer Prince Williams about him. Prince explained everything: how he’s considered the next Snoop Dogg (because of his affinity for weed); and how he has a large underground cult following (mostly white college kids).

This morning I awakened to the news that Khalifa was arrested in Greenville, North Carolina for what else: drug possession.

According to MTV.com, a Pitt County Detention Center spokesman confirmed that Khalifa (born Cameron Thomaz), 22, was booked into the jail at around 1:30 a.m. He posted $300,000 bail and was released this morning around 8 a.m.

A bail that huge means he was caught with a ton of weed that he was possibly growing — not your average carry around joints for personal use.

The rapper was charged with a felony count of trafficking in marijuana, a felony count of maintaining a dwelling/vehicle/place for sale or storage of marijuana and one misdemeanor charge of possession of drug paraphernalia.

Khalifa obviously failed to take heed to Bow Wow’s warning — that the cops are monitoring the Internet.

Khalifa’s last tweet before he was arrested was: “smoke outs in greenville nc tonite. fall thru wit ur finest plant life”

The weed heads weren’t the only ones who fell through last night.

According to MTV News, Khalifa recently boasted about having a $10,000-a-month weed habit and he launched his own brand of rolling papers last month.

Hopefully, Khalifa can still monitor his business ventures from behind bars where he will be for the next couple of years after he’s sentenced.

He was caught with 30lbs that’s why his bail was $300,000. If he get’s a good lawyer ( not Phaedra Parks) and checks into rehab, he’ll get probation.

but sandra wiz is a self made artist he was booking and getting more money than artist on major labels. the record labels came to him because the movement was so strong. to me good music is good music i take it for what its worth. i dont smoke weed and never have but i still enjoy his music even though thats a major topic of his. and chase curen$$y would fall under the same category as wiz so if you dont want him listening to one then u probably dont want him listening to the other. even though if u take it off the ipod im sure he will find a way to still listen as i did as a youth lol.

This is the crazy thing, I love Wiz Khalifa and I’m not a pot smoker. His music is better that what has came out the past couple of years.. I mean think about it, you have these grown men and little boys talking about killing and shooting and selling drugs and your child is listening to it.. You even hear the music with disrespecting women calling them all types of names.. In his music It’s about his lifestyle and what he likes to do.. He has not one time said he sells crack or even sells weed, if anything he’s buying… LIGHTEN UP…

Though I’ve been known to with the best of them. I love Wiz! His music is different…and I respect that he came up independently. I’ve been rocking with him since “Ink My Whole Body”….and ain’t nothing wrong with smoking weed IMO….it’s natural

I agree! I been listening to Wale for YEARS!!!! When he was just a local DMV artist. He really is talented and can make a decent album without talking cursing or talking crazy. I still like “Paint a Picture”. #DMV

His song “Black and Yellow” is actually really good. It reminds me of 90’s rap, which is a good thing. He not only smokes weed like Snoop but he also looks like him and coincidentally Snoop loves to wear Pittsburgh sports gear (which is where Wiz is from) mmmm….. I agree about needing positive role models in rap. At least there is B.O.B, Lupe Fiasco, Talib Kwele and others.
