LA Coroner: Teena Marie’s cause of death unclear

Teena Marie’s autopsy was completed yesterday, but Los Angeles County Coroner Ed Winter says her cause of death remains unclear.

According to the Atlanta Journal, investigators say the 54-year-old R&B singer’s autopsy results revealed no signs of trauma. This conflicts with rumors that Marie suffered several fractured ribs from a fall during a seizure she had weeks before she died.

Marie’s daughter, Alia Rose, found her mother’s body in their Pasadena home one day after they celebrated Rose’s 19th birthday.

There were reports that Marie died in her sleep after suffering a grand mal seizure. But there are people who experience seizures every day and they don’t die.

Also unclear is why Marie had seizures in the first place. Did she have epilepsy or were the seizures drug induced?

Winter said no illegal drugs were found in the family’s home where Marie died on December 26. But police removed a bottle of Valium from the scene. Valium is often prescribed for people with anxiety, panic attacks and to control seizures.

Marie reportedly stopped taking the drug due to its serious side effects, which include drowsiness, fatigue and constipation.

Teena Marie’s planned concert appearance on New Year’s Day at the Fox Theater in Atlanta will instead be a tribute to honor her career. Scheduled performers include MAZE and Frankie Beverly, along with Johnny Gill and Stephanie Mills.

Tickets can be purchased online or at the Fox Theater box office. Refunds are available at the point of purchase.

Celebrity Seed: Jamie Foxx

I didn’t know comedian Jamie Foxx had a toddler? Foxx was seen holding the child — who looks to be about 2-years-old — on his hotel balcony in Miami today. The 43-year-old singer/actor has another daughter, Corinne Bishop, 16, from a previous relationship.

Despite receiving generally poor reviews, Foxx’s sophomore album, Best Night of My Life debuted at #6 on the charts last week with 144,000 copies sold.

When Twitter Goes Horribly Wrong

Troubled singer chris brown once again showed his immaturity and lack of class by throwing another of his infamous twitter tantrums today.

It seems brown heard a rumor that teh Ghey singer Raz B was about to release another lame home video outing him on World Star Hip Hop.

So, instead of calling the man on the phone and discussing the issue privately, brown unleashed a series of angry tweets calling Raz B a homo, among other things.

That boy is so pathetic.

chris brown just retweeted this pic:

Sean Combs is a bad influence on his son Justin

According to the Daily Mail newspaper in London, music mogul Sean Combs partied the night away last night at Club Nikke in St. Barts with his baby mama, Kim Porter — and his 16-year-old son Justin.

The boy, who is not of legal age to drink, mingled with the monied St. Barts jet set while his parents got their party on. Clearly, there are no laws in St. Barts to protect minors from parental overindulgence.

Kim Porter kept a close eye on Combs, but no one was watching teenager Justin who has seen too much for a child his age. Justin’s mom is New York socialite Misa Hylton-Brim.

Dressed casually in a grey sweatshirt and a white hat, Combs was joined for several bottles of champange by Porter and Justin, as well as Jimmy Choo millionairess Tamara Mellon and musician Nelle Hooper.

41-year-old Combs is a regular visitor to St Barths and had been taking it easy on board a rented yacht, playing doting dad to his twin daughters, D’Lila Star and Jessie James, 4, son Christian Combs, 12, son Justin, and Kim’s son Quincy, 17 (with musician Al B Sure).

Although Combs seems to be a good father to his daughters, the same can’t be said about his child-rearing skills when it comes to his sons, who are given free reign to do whatever they wish.

Celebrity Seed: Keyshia Cole

R&B singer Keyshia Cole took her son, Daniel “Stinky” Gibson Jr., to watch his daddy, Boobie play against the Minnesota Timberwolves.

The Cleveland Cavaliers lost the game 98-97 in Cleveland. Keyshia tweeted throughout the game, and was disappointed when the Cavs coach benched her man.

Keyshia’s album, Calling All Hearts, debuted last week with 128k in first week sales.

Source: Rihanna gave Melissa a diamond ring for Christmas

This Christmas, it wasn’t the thought that counted, it was the diamonds!

Pop star Rihanna reportedly gave her best friend Melissa a sparkly diamond ring for Christmas!

Judging from these pics taken last night at the ‘Models & Bottles’ party at the Ship Inn Club in Barbados, it’s obvious that Melissa is thrilled to have Rihanna back in her life! Rihanna is spending the Christmas holidays in Barbados with her family and friends.

The besties dressed alike and rarely left each other’s side as the crowd sang along with every song on Rihanna’s LOUD album.

“They’re not lesbian lovers,” said my source via phone. “They have the same kind of relationship as Gayle [King] and Oprah.”

Yesterday, US Weekly magazine confirmed the split between Rihanna and Dodgers star Matt Kemp.

Word is that the insecure baseball star felt threatened by the close bond between the two women. As you know, Rihanna and Mel frequently shared beds hotel rooms while on the road — and Matt wasn’t having that.

Eventually, Rihanna got tired of Matt’s whining and she sent Melissa back home to their native Barbados.

Many of Rihanna’s fans wondered what happened to the ever-present Mel who was a staple in paparazzi pics with RiRi. Friends say Rihanna missed Melissa terribly while she traveled on tour with the moody Kemp.

Though Mel was out of the picture temporarily, she still received a weekly stipend from Rihanna as her personal assistant. Meanwhile, RiRi hired another personal assistant to travel with her and Matt.

Pau Gasol: Kobe Byant is selfish

The hapless LA Lakers (21-10) continue to spiral out of control after being routed by the San Antonio Spurs 97-82 last night.

Fingers immediately began pointing at conceited Lakers star guard Kobe Bryant who fired up 27 desperation shots at the basket. Center Pau Gasol, who only made nine field goal attempts during the game, couldn’t hold his tongue any longer.

“We didn’t play a smart game, put it that way,” Gasol said. ” … We have to recognize what’s going on and understand what our strengths are against certain opponents, and try to exploit them.”

“It can’t be an individual effort from nobody,” Gasol added. “It has to be altogether on a string, like a family.” Source
