President Barack Obama called for the nation to honor Martin Luther King with a day of service to others.
Reporting from Washington— President Obama used the Martin Luther King Jr. holiday to make a call for public service Monday, saying it was particularly important for Americans to "pull together" at a time of economic hardship.
In brief remarks at a public school in Northeast Washington, Obama also addressed some "controversy" over a quote chiseled into the new memorial for the slain civil rights leader.
On the side of the stone monument reads this quote from King: "I was a drum major for justice, peace and righteousness." But critics said the abbreviated quote misrepresented King's intent, a point Obama acknowledged today.
"If you look at that speech talking about Dr. King as a drum major, what he really said was that all of us can be a drum major for service, all of us can be a drum major for justice. There's nobody who can’t serve. Nobody who can’t help somebody else," the president said. Source
Remember the rowdy lesbian couple who attempted to assault a McDonald's cashier but they caught a savage beat down instead? The NY Daily News reports that the two lovers pleaded not guilty to criminal trespassing for jumping the counter.
According to the NY Daily News, Denise Darbeau (above left) and Rachel Edwards (who looks like a cleaned up Trina), were already fighting mad -- with each other -- before they entered the West Village McDonald’s on Oct. 12, 2011.
The pair had gone drinking, then got into a wild fracas with McDonald’s employee Rayon McIntosh, an ex-con, who was caught on video beating the women after they entered an employees-only area.
According to unsealed court records, Edwards (the Trina look-a-like) is alleged to have said to Darbeau: "Why did this happen? Why don’t you love me the way I love you?"
Both women entered "not guilty" pleas in a Manhattan court on Wednesday. They were both offered probation in return for pleading guilty. But Darbeau and Edwards declined through their attorney. They face up to seven years in prison if found guilty.
Their lawyer, Harold Baker, said outside court his clients would not cop to a felony. Baker said his clients are the real victims.
In last night's episode of Bravo's Real Housewives of Atlanta, NeNe Leakes and her business partner, John, meet again to discuss a lounge she's planning on opening in Atlanta. After the meeting, John presents NeNe with another expensive pair of Christian Louboutin pumps. In return, NeNe quickly pecks John on the cheek.
As a former stripper, NeNe knows that a quick peck on the cheek does not suffice -- especially when she have just received a very expensive gift. A peck on the lips would have been a more appropriate response for such an expensive gift.
When a baller gives a woman an expensive gift in public, he is doing it for show (to get attention). So he's looking for a response that is equally as showy as the gift. (In his mind) a quick peck on the lips is a worthy response.

Rihanna was seen smoking a hand rolled joint while vacationing in Hawaii on Sunday. Later that same day, she sent out a tweet to her 12 million followers on Twitter.com glorifying her alcohol and drug use:
"Kush rolled, glass full...I prefer the better things!"
The 23-year-old singer has been spiraling out of control since last Summer when word leaked out of her camp that she was an out of control alcoholic and substance abuser. Sandrarose.com broke the story first about Rihanna's drinking problem.

A Jan. 8 telephone poll conducted by Pollposition.com (as reported by USA Today) found that 59.9% of African Americans believed that God helped Denver Boncos quarterback Tim Tebow win football games.
That same poll showed that a whopping 81% of Hispanics also believed that God ordered Tebow's steps on the football field. White people, who are the least to believe in magic or superstition, ranked last with just 31% of them believing that God would influence the outcome of a football game in favor of one individual.
Magical thinking is the belief that thinking about something can cause it to occur.
According to Psychology Today, "Magical thinking is defined as believing that one event happens as a result of another without a plausible link of causation."

Luxury brand Louis Vuitton is quick to sue anyone who misuses their brand. LVMH legal department has filed lawsuits against major corporations such as Hyundai (for infringing on its brand in a car commercial); and Warner Brothers (for using a fake bag in the movie Hangover 2).
Now LV has set their sights on celebrities such as Justin Bieber and Jaden Smith for wearing clothing using the fake Louis Vuitton monogram.
Celebrities are known for hiring tailors to construct clothing using famous, but fake brand names. Now Louis Vuitton is cracking down on the brand thieves.
This week, Bieber, 18, wore a jacket to the Consumer Electronics show (CES) in Las Vegas that caught the eye of fashionistas who thought the jacket was custom made by the iconic brand. But a rep in the LV corporate office told us exclusively: "The jacket Bieber is wearing is a cheap knockoff of the Louis Vuitton brand." The rep pointed out the red LEVI's tag on the jacket pocket as proof that the jacket is a counterfeit.
In an exclusive statement Sandrarose.com, the LV rep said:
"Anything unauthentic, whether worn by a famous individual or not, is seriously frowned upon."
Calls to Justin and Jaden's reps were not immediately returned.

I get the craziest emails from my devoted readers, but none stranger than the one I received today. It was sent in by a loyal reader who claimed to be a "close family relation" to actress Nia Long.
She asked that I not post the email or mention specific details contained within the email. But she wanted Sandrarose.com readers to know that the race of Nia Long's baby is Caucasian -- not black or mixed.
She wrote that the baby was the result of an in vitro fertilisation. An IVF procedure involves the egg cells being fertilised by the sperm outside of the body and then implanted in the uterus.
The email writer goes on to say that neither Nia nor her boyfriend, former NBA player Ime Udoka, are the biological parents of the 2-month-old child.
But why would Nia go to such lengths to have a white baby? My loyal reader said Nia visited a fertility clinic to undergo the in vitro fertilization because there is a waiting list for white babies through U.S. adoption agencies.
Will this be a new fad among urban celebs since white celebrities have been adopting black babies as accessories for years?
Take a look at the pics and you decide. Is the baby white or black?
VH1's 'Mob Wives' is a huge hit, mostly due to the surgically altered permanent pout of Angela “Big Ang” Raiola. Whether she's really a biological female is up for debate. But Big Ang tells VH1 what she wants in her ideal Goodfella -- even if he is dead.
VH1: We’ve all seen the clip of you talking about finding a nice wise guy to take care of you. If you could create your dream wise guy, who’s your ideal man? What qualities does he have?
Big Ang: Oh, John Gotti. I thought he was the most handsomest, classiest, and I personally knew him. That’s…the kinda guy I like. [Laughs] That’s definitely the guy. He was so handsome, and the way he used to carry himself and walk into places, I’d be like “Hi, John!!” I knew him, and that’s the kind of guy I’m talking about. I knew John before he became who he was and he was handsome from the day he was…I used to work in a big wise guy bar in Brooklyn called The Nineteenth Hole and he used to come, and he wasn’t even “John Gotti” like he was when he died, he was nobody at the time. Matter of fact, I think he had just come home from jail, he wasn’t even a wise guy then. He was just so handsome, I used to stare at him all the time. READ MORE

The Chinese take their professional basketball just as seriously as we do on the other side of the Pacific. So when former Denver Nuggets J.R. Smith was fouled in the paint, his sister took matters into her own hands -- literally.
Smith, who jumped ship for China during the NBA lockout is stuck in Beijing until the Chinese basketball season is over in March. That's when he can be reactivated in a NBA uniform, according to the Chinese rules that he agreed to when he signed that fat $3 million contract.
Smith's current team, the Zhejiang Golden Bulls, faced the Bayi Rockets, who aren't strangers to playing dirty (this is the Chinese military team who famously brawled with Georgetown on the court).
According to Deadspin.com, after Smith drew contact without a foul call, his sister allegedly threw a bottle on the court, then went on a rampage—choking out a woman and shoving an 80-year-old man out of her way.

'Braxton Family Values' stars Trina and Tamar Braxton sat down with celebrity blogger Karen Civil to discuss infidelity, gossip blogs and negativity vs the positive.
Trina opened about her husband Gabe Solis' online voyeurism, and she revealed that they have been legally separated for a year because of it.
"We didn't put this out there for the show," said Trina, "but Gabe and I are legally separated. So Gabe has the right to do whatever he chooses and with whom..."
The pain and the hurt are palpable in Trina's voice as she makes conflicting statements about her "relationship" with Gabe.
"We are talking and we are praying about different things... we don't know where we are... where we're going to be. Nobody's relationship is perfect, and ours definitely not!," says Trina.
The shade being thrown by Tamar as Trina talks about Gabe indicates that she doesn't believe her sister's words either.
We won't comment on what Trina and Tamar had to say about gossip blogs and negative comments because we know that they are new to the blogs and they need time to process the fact that negativity and criticism comes with the territory when you seek fame.

A home video showing Chris Brown's girlfriend Karrueche Tran clowning Rihanna is quickly making the rounds of social networking websites.
Using a mock Chinese accent, Tran and 2 of her friends taunt Rihanna as her music video for "Hard" plays in the background.
Tran perfectly describes Rihanna's persona ("sexy, but ugly"), and she sticks the knife in and twists slowly by asking Rihanna "why you no have boyfriend?"
If you recall, Rihanna and Chris Brown surreptitiously tweeted each other on Dec. 29, expressing their undying love for one another.

Former talk show host Montel Williams has weighed in on the controversy surrounding a viral video that shows four U.S. soldiers in full military uniform relieving themselves on the dead bodies of Muslim Taliban members.
The Taliban, which was ousted from power in Dec. 2001, were responsible for the September 11, 2001 terroristic attacks on U.S. soil.
In a satellite call to TMZ.com this morning, Williams, a retired Naval officer and former Marine, said stress from a "heavy workload" might help explain the soldiers' behavior.
Williams said the stress on soldiers currently serving in the armed forces could be alleviated if President Obama reinstated mandatory military enlistment.
"The stresses must be getting to the point that it caused some of this ... why don't we spread out that stress and start making more people put on the uniform and defend this democracy?"
Williams claims only .25% of the U.S. population is serving in the military ... and says, "Maybe it's about time that this country wake up and understand that we can't put the pressure of defending our democracy on less than .25% of this entire population." Source

Newcomer Erica Mena tells VIBE magazine why she knocked Kimbella's wig askew in their first meeting: “I decided to become a Bronx b—h and snuff her.” VIBE asks Erica why she jumped off in Kimbella's mug in the first place. “I think I mentioned that she was a joke and even her man laughs at her, probably with the next b—h,” said Erica.

'Braxton Family Values' star Tamar Braxton and her husband Vince Herbert are featured on the cover of this week's JET magazine.
Tamar, having been bitten by the fame bug, is doing a full court press in the studio recording tracks for her upcoming album. She said the studio brings out the hidden 'Sasha Fierce' in her -- referring to the alter ego of pseudo-singer Beyonce.
"I have to do this,” she said. “I wake up in the morning and want to go to the studio, because if I don’t go, ‘her’ is going to be upset." When asked about her musical style, Tamar replied "I don’t want to put it in a category because when you do that you limit yourself. It’s just going to be hot music. Great songs that appeal to everybody.”
The 34-year-old former backup singer for sibling Toni Braxton, clearly believes reality show fame will translate into album sales. Maybe she should consult with RHOA star Kandi Burruss?
Tamar's husband Vince, who is recovering from a near-fatal blood clot in his lungs, responded to criticism that his wife is using him for his money and his connections (Vince once managed Lady Gaga and other stars).
“I love my wife. This girl is so far from being a gold digger. I wouldn’t be with someone like that for nine years,” he said.
Tamar chimes in: “When I met Vince I had my own house. I had my own car. I was independent.”
Vince said the secret to his happy marriage is to be friends first: "Tamar is the greatest," said Vince. "Like, we’d just drive to Disneyland, then go to the movies and fall asleep. Because we are friends and you can’t stress that enough in a relationship. We have our arguments and disagreements, but that’s life.”
Khloe Kardashian lashed out at her late father's two ex-wives on Twitter.com for alleging that she was not a full fledged Kardashian.
Khloe was steamed at the 2 ex-wives for blabbing to celebrity gossip websites that Robert Kardashian, who died of cancer in 2003, told each of them that Khloe was not his kid.
"The audacity you have to mention my father’s name like this!," she tweeted yesterday. She added: "Should be ashamed of urself! I let a lot of things slide but this one is really low… YOU ARE DISGUSTING! (yes you know who YOU are)"
But TMZ.com did a little digging around and unearthed an old court document that seems to suggest that Khloe might have sprang from Kardashian's loins after all.
Robert Kardashian swore that Khloe IS his biological daughter ... torpedoing claims by his ex-wives that Khloe was fathered by another man.
When Robert was seeking to have his 2nd marriage annulled from Jan Ashley in 1999, he submitted a declaration to the judge stating that the marriage did not work because Jan wanted to have his child ... but he did not.
In the declaration, Robert says, "I decided that since I already had four biological children, I did not wish to have any more."
Jan just told a tabloid that Robert had privately confessed to her he was NOT Khloe's biological dad -- but that seems to fly in the face of Robert's own declaration.
Great work, TMZ! I'm sure this will make Robert rest easier.
The unorthodox teaching methods of teachers at a Norcross elementary school have caused a national uproar. The teachers gave 3rd grade students at Beaver Ridge Elementary a math lesson featuring slavery questions such as figuring out how many beatings a slave would get if he was whipped twice a day for 2 weeks.
Over 100 students were sent home with the math lesson, which featured about 20 questions on slavery. Some parents reacted with fury, accusing the teachers of blatant racism. But education leaders dismiss the allegations of racism.
According to the AJC, Calvine Rollins, president of the Georgia Association of Educators said "the slave math lesson created by a teacher to reinforce a lesson on Frederick Douglass may have used poor judgment, but it shouldn’t lead to the termination of those who wrote or handed it out without reviewing it."
“This is an unfortunate incident,” Rollins said. “I don’t believe the teacher wanted to expose those kids to anything offensive. Gwinnett County teachers are dedicated. They work hard and try on a daily basis to do the right thing.”

Usher Raymond's ex-wife, Tameka Raymond continues her quest to gain public sympathy. She recently sat down for an interview with Uptown magazine to talk about why she thinks User is fighting her for full custody of their sons, Usher Raymond IV, aka Cinco, 4, and Daviyd, 3.
“He is a man very accustomed to having his way,” Raymond says. “This has nothing to do with how I parent. Trust me, I never will have a desire to keep a man away from his kids. I am not June Cleaver or head of the PTA, but I know I am a good mother.”
The above photo from the interview shows Tameka with her oldest son, Darrin, 21 (far right), whom she had when she was 19 and roughing it in Oakland, CA.
The other boys are Daviyd play fighting with his half brother (whom Tameka had with Atlanta clothier Ryan Glover). Glover's other son is the boy sitting 2nd from left with Cinco.
Darrin is a mystery to many Tameka observers who thought she only had 4 boys.
As Uptown Editor-in-chief Isoul Harris explains: Darrin's father was murdered before he was born. During the photo shoot, Darrin noticed Isoul snapping a pic with his cell phone and he immediately signaled to Tameka, whom he is "?ercely protective" of.
“Because I had him at such a young age, he and I basically grew up together and we are extremely close. But I am very conscious not to be an overbearing mother,” says Tameka.
Rev. Run's daughter Angela Simmons didn't care how she looked when she took her dog for a walk in Beverly Hills, on Monday. The 24-year-old entrepreneur struggles to stay relevant after her reality TV show was cancelled.
Now that TV mogul Raven-Symoné, 26, has dropped all that weight she doesn't care how she dresses either. The former child star who is worth millions wore red satin shorts with a black jacket and black hooker boots while on a stroll in Beverly Hills. That's her mother, Lydia Pearman in the green khakis. I don't know who the distinguished gentleman is with them, but he looks like a throwback from the psychedelic sixties. By the way, Lydia and Raven-Symoné's dad, Chris, divorced while Raven was in her teens.

In a blockbuster confession, Kim and Khloe Kardashian's late father, Robert Kardashian confirmed to a friend that he knew Khloe was not his seed!
Khloe is not a Kardashian - yes, Robert Kardashian's ex-wife and widow have come forward in a Star magazine exclusive in which they both claim that the late attorney had his doubts about the paternity of Khloe. "Khloe is not his kid -- he told me that after we got married," Jan Ashley, 63, the woman who married Robert after Kris Jenner, revealed to Star exclusively. "He just kind of looked at me and said [it] like it was a matter of fact. He said, 'Well, you know that Khloe's not really a Kardashian, don't you?' And I said, 'OK,' and that was it."
Ellen Kardashian, 63, married Robert in 2003 just two months before his death, after dating for nearly six years -- and she has also come forward after eight years of silence to "tell the truth" about the Kardashian family. For more on this exclusive story, go to RadarOnline.com.
Update: Earlier today, Khloe lashed out at one of her father's ex-wives for alleging that she is not a Kardashian.
We feel Khloe's pain, but the evidence is overwhelming that she's not her father's seed. Not one, but two of Robert Kardashian's ex-wives say he told them Khloe was not his kid. I'm surprised that Kris Jenner hasn't worked the paternity test into a reality show.
It looks like the anti-Kim Kardashian petitions have worked.
The self-centered reality star was dealt another blow in the aftermath of her disastrous divorce from Nets basketball player Kris Humphries.
Now comes word that fitness apparel giant Skechers has replaced Kim with a dog in its Super Bowl ad after declining to renew her lucrative sponsorship contract.
According to PEOPLE:
The other shoe has dropped on Kim Kardashian: She's out, and the dogs are in.
Skechers, which featured the reality star in a sexy ad for Shape-Ups during last year's Super Bowl, will instead air a spot that features a French bulldog wearing Skechers' GOrun shoes, according to USA Today. The new kicks are part of Skechers' new high-tech line.
"Kim got us more attention than we ever dreamed," Skechers Fitness president Leonard Armato says. "We have to establish Skechers as more than a lifestyle company."
According to TMZ.com, a North Carolina church sign was defaced by vandals over the weekend. The sign's message -- which was not authorized by the church as a message from God -- read: BEYONCE HAD HER BABY. SATAN IS ON EARTH.
The pastor at Beulah Hill Baptist Church in West End, NC tells TMZ, he discovered the vandalism yesterday after receiving numerous complaints from locals asking who this Beyonce was. The sign was removed immediately.
The pastor may or may not have authorized the message, but someone in his congregation did. The sign's lettering cannot be changed by outsiders without a key to open the display case.
Amid all the hoopla over the "birth" of The Chosen One, Solange Knowles, the sister of the new mom, whose name shall not be mentioned, went on a Twitter rant yesterday deploring the insensitivity towards her sister.
"It has really gotten out of hand. I've been doing my best at keeping my mouth shut....but the ignorance is really sad and upsetting," she wrote in one of a series of tweets on her verified Twitter page.
We are supposed to be super human and watch people we love get slandered, lied on, and ridiculed. It is one of THE hardest things to accept. In any other workplace...if someone directly tells your mother or sister is a liar and a fake ect...you would naturally express yourself. However, the pure happiness and joy I've witnessed and experienced helps me to keep my mouth shut.
We hear that Solo's anger was misdirected at her sister and brother-in-law, who refused to allow Solo to live tweet her niece's birth -- and who had the audacity to give fame whore Gwyneth Paltrow the honor of announcing the baby's name to the world via a tweet!
Our very credible sources tell us Solange is "mad as hell" at her sister and brother-in-law for not giving her the privilege of announcing the baby's name. But her sister reportedly told her she'll get over it.
What kind of girl would want to look like Canadian rapper Drake? Answer: a feminine, girly girl, of course!
This Asian chick takes the makeup video tutorials to a new level by teaching you how to transform yourself into the Emo rapper.
It seems chicks can't get enough of Aubrey Graham -- maybe because he reminds them so much of themselves?
One mentally disturbed woman even went so far as to have Drake's name tattooed, in big block letters, on her forehead so that everyone would know who was constantly on her mind.
We don't understand the physical attraction to Drake who resembles a light-skinned Shrek. But we LOVE his music.

Actors Halle Berry and Olivier Martinez are engaged -- to each other, US Weekly magazine confirms. Rumors swirled at the start of the New Year that Halle was engaged when the 48-year-old twice-divorced mother of one was spotted with a sizable rock on her left hand.
That same day, Halle turned the ring around and made a noticeable effort to hide her left hand from the paparazzi. But why all the secrecy? Shouldn't an engagement be one of the happiest times of a woman's life -- even if it's her third time?
According to US Weekly, Martinez, 46, proposed to Halle over the holidays, with an emerald-and-diamond ring from Gurhan. She met the French actor while working on the film Dark Tide in 2010.
Halle has a daughter, Nahla, 3, with Canadian underwear model Gabe Aubry, 36. Olivier has no children. Halle was previously married to R&B singer Eric Benet (2001), and former Atlanta Braves baseball star David Justice (1993). Each marriage lasted for 4 turbulent years.
Following her divorce from Benet, Halle swore she would NEVER marry again.
We wish we could say that we're happy for Halle, but judging from her past history with men (mostly celebrities), we already know how this marriage will turn out.
It seems that Halle is one of those insecure women who only wants a wedding, not a marriage.
