One blogger shares my sentiments that singer Willow Smith is crying out for attention from her superstar parents.
Crushable.com is convinced that the 11-year-old’s bizarre outfits and nonconformist hairstyles are actually a desperate plea for attention.
While I give her major props for her unique fashion choices and her determination not to blend in with the crowd, I can’t help but wonder if this latest extreme outfit is actually a plea for her attention from her parents.
According to the Lucy Daniels Center, kids who cry out for attention usually suppress intense feelings of anxiety, depression, sadness and frustration.
Over-indulged children such as Willow, who are given the autonomy and freedom to raise themselves, do not develop age-appropriate skills and they tend to feel emotionally overwhelmed, and/or detached emotionally.
This leads to acting out behavior which is intended to trigger a negative response from the parents.
According to the Lucy Daniels Center, children “generally seek so-called inappropriate attention when they feel unable to manage their emotions or behavior.”
The center says it is key for parents with attention-seeking children to “feel with their child and see the world through their eyes.”
That’s not likely to happen with parents who are Scientologists.
