A prominent Buffalo, NY trauma surgeon who was suspected of gunning down his ex-girlfriend was found dead, according to news reports.

Dr. Timothy Jorden’s body was found in the woods along 18 Mile Creek behind his home in Lake View, according to WGRZ.

Authorities searched the cliffs near Jorden’s home for two days after receiving a report of a single gunshot at 9 a.m. near Jorden’s home.

Dr. Jorden was a person of interest in the shooting death of Jacqueline Wizniewski at ECMC hospital earlier this week. Dr. Jorden saw patients at the hospital where the victim was a receptionist.

Wizniewski’s boss at the ECMC Adolescent Psychiatry unit said the victim told her she was in an abusive situation with a physician but she didn’t name him. Wizniewski worked as a receptionist on the unit.

According to a friend, Jorden installed a GPS device on Wizniewski’s car to track her whereabouts. “She was afraid of him. She was deathly afraid of him,” Heather Shipley told the Buffalo News.

Jorden and Wizniewski reportedly dated for several years, and she lived with him for a year. Wizniewski moved out earlier this year because she suspected he was cheating on her.

Friends say Jorden refused to move on after the break up. He stalked her and once held her captive at knifepoint in her home.

Wizniewski, who had a young son, told friends Jorden threatened to kill her multiple times.

Jorden is married with one son. He was investigated for 2 other domestic abuse incidents in 2003. He was certified in advanced-trauma life support, and he received numerous awards and recognition for his teaching skills and his involvement in the community.
